Sarah Drew Lands Role on Grey's Anatomy

As we learned on last week's rollercoaster Grey's Anatomy season premiere, cash-strapped Seattle Grace is getting ready to merge with its crosstown rival hospital, Mercy West.

The result will be an influx of new characters, as the series aspires to expand its roster of hot doctors and story lines as it enters what is being called a transitional sixth season.

Sarah Drew is the latest to score a recurring role as one of the new faces at the revamped SGH. The actress, who turns 29 tomorrow, will be playing a doctor named April.

The hospital merger takes place on the October 15 episode, "Invasion," when Drew and fellow Mercy West newcomers Robert Baker, Jesse Williams and Nora Zehetner arrive.

The "Invasion" of fresh faces presumably will compete with Seattle Grace regulars.

Interestingly, Sarah Drew was recently cast on Inside the Box, a new pilot developed by Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice creator Shonda Rhimes that was never picked up.

  2. Jennifer Says:

I agree with Angela. I know they keep saying they have to expand the cast for the longevity of the show, but I for one am not that interested in a whole slew of new people...

Another one. Great. I understand that EP and KH's leave have to be covered but the permanent cast is very large, why can't they focus on them?

    sorry for my english

I'm with the 3 of you, there are quite characters for keep our interest, shonda could center in their stories

more people means less time for our beloved characters, the same way that gang of interns took time last season, and for what?

  5. deme Says:

these new entry i don't want them because they take off scenes to our legendary residents.SO i don't want them

i agree, the cast is so big, and i like the lastest cast members (owen, arizona) but i feel like we dont know much about them. i'd like to see character development and bigger storylines for arizona, mark, and callie. that would make our show so much stronger, whereas all these new people seem to dilute the already developing stories.

  7. Paddisonluvr Says:

Agreed - and it's a good thing the pilot wasn't picked up! Shonda has enough to handle with 2 shows - I can't imagine GA and PrPr competing with a whole new one. Wow.

This girl looks like Chyler leigh sort of.
Yeah i agree, these new doctors should be no more than scene fillers. The cast is big enough so focus on them and show the audience new sides of them cuz i think there's so much you can show with one single character.
Hopefully these doctors wont be annoying..hoepfully no more interns.

  9. julest Says:

GA started out with the fab 5 interns, 2 male attendings and Bailey and the Chief. 9 core characters. Ad arrived, then Callie, Sloan, Lexie and Hunt. We've lost Burke and George now and gained Arizona. So is that eleven main characters, surely enough! Yes, the storylines of our core group are going to be so diluted to accomodate introducing TOO MANY new characters :( We'll soon be hearing these attractive actors will be extending their contracts, so depressing.

Hi -- who is the mom of the schizto guy? I can't place her face. Thanks.
