Q: So excited for Grey's Anatomy finally returning next week. What can you tell me about Katherine Heigl's character, Dr. Izzie Stevens? She's my absolute fave.
A: Izzie grapples with her cancer throughout the beginning of the season.
In the season premiere, Bailey informs Izzie she's no longer a surgical patient but is still a cancer patient, and we will see Izzie spending a lot of time with a cancer support group.
Makes you wonder if that has a negative affect on her relationship with hubby Alex. Stevens does vanish, after all, for that stretch in the middle of the upcoming season.
Could the newlyweds already be taking a break?

I actually reckon it will be easy for greys to get away with izzie disappearing for 5 episodes.
1. The whole firing thing ..she hasnt practiced medicine in ages & even before she was diagnosed was doing all the intern stuff
2. She will be heartbroken over losing George
3. I'm sure she is going to release she wasnt ready to get married yet
4. To top it all off..the fact that she is still weak from her cancer will just weigh everything down
It seriously wouldnt surprise me if izzie went off the rails for a while from everything she has been going through. Although I do hope it isnt for too long as she is one of my favourite characters and its going to be so weird to have greys without her

izzie leaves from the show, because she goes to do a movie...it's evident ...shonda says that in the show there's who comes and there's who goes and the show become as er..i think that she return after a time

I hope Izzie and Alex don't break up. I'm so happy they're finally together. The writers don't need to make unnecessary relationship drama to accomadate Katherine Heigl's absence. After everything they've been through together, I really can't see them wanting to be apart. I think they need eachother now more than ever.

I think she's just gonna hang in the backburner..like she'll get "let go" to rest from her cancer, and they'll re-hire her once the hospital has gotten back on its feet. but sometimes we just have to wait it out as viewers - not everything can be spoiled, you know?

I doubt they will take a break. There is no reason for it. They will need each other thru the loss of George. I see her maybe going home to visit her mom at some point and possibly needing some r&r from the whole george thing. Other than that Izzie is going to be there to stay. I dont think any of us can make it without her! They cant last without 2 of the originals! George will be missed, especially by Iz.

I wish that it would come out that Izzy only married Alex because she really needed to fill the void of not being able to fully have George. Best Friends usually are the greatest loves of anyones lives and now that he is gone she needs the time to reasses what she has done. She went through to much to fully contemplate the reality of the commitment she has made to Alex.
