When we last saw the doctors of Seattle Grace, Derek and Meredith tied the knot with a Post-It note and gave up their wedding so a dying Izzie could wed Alex instead.
How did that sit with McDreamy?
Patrick Dempsey tells Extra he was shocked when he read the script. "I think the fans are expecting a wedding," the actor said. "I was surprised too, like this is it?"
"This is what it's gonna be?"
Does that mean a bigger Meredith-Derek wedding is still in the works? Don't expect to get any answers to that out of Shonda Rhimes or the Grey's Anatomy cast.
While it is not expected to actually happen, Patrick says that he would have liked to see Ellen Pompeo's pregnancy written into the script for a McDreamy baby!
He added, "I think it would've been interesting to see her juggling a career and baby." Ellen and husband Chris Ivery are expecting their first child this winter.

And they should've done the whole McBaby! If Patrick wants it, they should've done it!

I think it's interesting that Patrick seems to feel the same way a lot of fans felt ... "is that it?" I just keep hoping that they'll have a real wedding sometime later on. (A post-it note isn't going to cut it after 5 seasons of suspense!) Still, I thought that scene was sweet and, on the flip side, I never expected to see Izzie and Alex walking down the aisle. Especially given that George, though he appeared pained, got up and essentially was the one to hand Izzie over to Alex. Very emotional.

Ok...I totally agree. I would have wanted to see a pregnant Meredith and a cute Mcbaby. It would make a good story line. I hope and think (maybe) there still might be a Mcbaby in the future. I just hate Meredith is not going to be on the show until Ellen has the baby. As for the wedding, I really hope there's a bigger one.

Post-it wedding - DOES NOT COUNT. If that's really all it takes to be married, gay and lesbian couples are fighting over nothing, since there are plenty of post-its to go around. Shonda let everyone down BIG TIME. Again.

I'm glad Patrick is speaking up. I have been very disappointed with how Shonda has been doing MerDer. Especially now that Alex and Izzie get to live in Derek's trailer on his land. The MerDer dream house should have went there. Shonda says she is going to do something or at least hint at it then does the opposite.

ok as much as i really want a mcbaby i don't think now would be a great time, lets have a little merder happiness b4 they throw the spanner in the works again..
and i hope they at least go to city hall and legalize the marriage, naw dr Meredith Shepherd...

I insist, this man should be promoted to Exec. Producer. PD really has a clear vision of what the fans want, especially from his character. I really hope that maybe they are storing the McBaby storyline for once EP returns from maternity leave or at least later this season. I'd be so happy to see the interesting dynamic that comes from it.
I was ok with the post it wedding in the sense of its actual meaning. I knew it's not a wedding but I loved hearing from Mer's mouth that she was ready for it. She didn't want to spend another day not being married to Derek and she's excited about the marriage. I am ok with THAT. I realize that it's not a LEGAL marriage but they are already married in spirit. So we just need them to sign the stupid paper and all done! I doubt it'll happen but I hope it eventually does.
And I did saw the Alex/Izzie take over the wedding. I thought it was stupid because they were just getting married since they both thought she was going to die, and robbed. I didn't expect Mer to walk down the aisle but I did expected a grand gesture wedding (not necessarily traditional but SOMETHING) and we got was 30 seconds of post-sex. Nothing else. I felt robbed and the post it wedding didn't make it any better. Ugh. I am mad again.

See this is what I love about Patrick Dempsey! He always knows what the fans expect! He always feels the same way as us!
I really hope the post-it wedding was not the official MerDer marriage. A baby would make an interesting story line for Meredith and Derek, but I am not sure if it would be the best thing to do!
