Below are excerpts from ABC Entertainment President Steve McPherson's press tour last week, as reported by Entertainment Weekly. In particular, the ABC exec responded to criticism from Katherine Heigl about Grey's Anatomy, and how it dealt with T.R. Knight.
2:18 p.m.: “[Grey's Anatomy] is a show that’s evolving,” he says, responding to a question about the departure of T.R. Knight. “We feel like Shonda Rhimes really hit her stride at the end of last year and we’re happy with what we’ve seen so far this season.”
He says we can expect more cast additions, in part to fill the void left by Ellen Pompeo “who is going to have a baby, so that’ll probably take her out for a couple of episodes.”
2:23 p.m.: Steve McPherson goes on to call Katherine Heigl’s latest anti-Grey's Anatomy tirade “unfortunate,” adding diplomatically, “People will behave in a way they choose to behave."
"There are so many people who work unbelievably hard to produce Grey’s Anatomy so I think it’s really hard for them to hear [her complain about working a 17-hour day].”
It wouldn't be Grey's Anatomy without Katherine Heigl controversy.

ABC needs to calm down. She was joking about the 17 hour work day. They take things Heigl says way out of proportion.

And you know she was kidding huh? she is annoying....

She's allowed to say she's exhausted. She didn't say she was more exhausted than anyone else, she just said what she felt.

I'm tired of people taking things Katherine says and making controversy about it. Granted, with what she says it's easy to do that, but give the girl a break.

Thank you, Mandy. My thoughts exactly.

I agree with ya Mandy

I don't know how to word this so I'm clear about what I'm trying to say.
Katherine Heigl has had some amazing opportunities arise from her work with Grey's Anatomy. I don't blame her for being tired after a 17-hour day, and I believe she is entitled to say what she wants, but I also think that now is not the time to be biting the hand that feeds you.
Maybe if she was a little more diplomatic about how she worded things, then things wouldn't be so easily misconstrued as criticism.

Larissa, I can definitely see what you mean. I think she means well, but she tends to say things at the wrong time. I don't think her filter knows timing very well. Like, she doesn't wait till drama has been over to say something or make a comment. She just builds it and builds it. I still admire her for her boldness, though.

OK, is Katherine Heigl seriously a diva?
if she is, that's just disappointing.
I mean, she has to know how lucky she is to be in a show as wonderful as Grey's

i'm sure her comments were misconstrued to let us believe that she was complaining yet again. I hope this is just what the media wants us to believe. But She must remember that without greys nobody would know her name does anyone give her a second thought when she was on that wb show?
