It's not often that we see behind-the-scenes looks at Grey's Anatomy, given the closed-set nature of the series. But this week, the cast filmed an unusual outdoor scene that appears to be at a cemetery - and we can only assume is Dr. George O'Malley's funeral.

Justin Chambers was on location as Grey's Anatomy filmed outside.
Now that T.R. Knight has confirmed he is not coming back to the show, and Katherine Heigl clearly is back filming, that would be the most logical explanation for what's going on here as Grey's Anatomy begins filming its sixth season: George being laid to rest.

I'm sad it's George's funeral....but obviously Izzie survives and is healthy enough to go to the funeral! That I'm happy about! :)

I wonder why they are being so open about it, like why would they shoot his funeral in a open place, do they want the fans to know? Maybe they are giving us this so that we will focus in it, an be shocked by some other huge thing that is going to happen

Izzie looks very healthy for someone who just almost died... most unrealistic cancer storyline in tv history ever.
And she even had the time and strength to buy a (this season!) trendy dress.

Maybe she had the dress and didnt go out and buy it. And no one said shes healthy they could of taken her to the funeral sick..its her best friend...If i was on my death bed id still go to my best friends funeral.

Casey, I agree with you about this being the "most unrealistic cancer storyline in tv history ever". How could Izzie be well enough to attend George's funeral when she was dying herself just 4 days or so earlier.
I'm sorry but I'm a realist and I'm having a hard time with this storyline. I still say Shonda made a HUGE mistake. HUGE. And I'm afraid she will see it in the ratings this season.
