Maybe it was the year's worth of rumors surrounding her leaving the show. Or a year's worth of ghost sex and battles with cancer, culminating in an afterlife scene.
But not everyone is convinced Katherine Heigl is really returning for Season Six of Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Izzie Stevens, who was left in limbo in the season finale.
On that topic, TV Guide says the following in its weekly spoiler Q&A:
Q: Color me shocked that Katherine Heigl isn't leaving Grey's Anatomy. Is it possible we're being duped in some way?
A: I must say that the lack of fanfare surrounding ABC's confirmation of Heigl's status - especially when juxtaposed with the flurry of official statements regarding T.R. Knight's departure - made me raise one of my overgrown eyebrows.
"Sure, she's staying... for just one more episode," I cynically hypothesized.
But one of my best Grey's Anatomy sources insists that this is not a case of clever semantics, and that Heigl's Izzie will have a significant presence in the fall.

If they wanted to let her die, they had their chance with that elevator scene. If she dies anyway in the first half of the new season, I'm gonna be pissed.

Not to be mean or anything, but this chick needs to just die already. its pretty ridiculous if she lives. and as much as i love alex, i know he will be in a lot of pain if she dies, but really i think we have had more than enough of katherine heigl, i mean izzie stevens...

Wait, we're going to have a LOT of Izzie? I mean, I like her and all, but I think she had more than enough scenes last year.
I'm tired of the Izzie show. I wish George had had just a bit of her airtime this year. He had nothing and she was on all the time. Now it looks like the Izzie's show will continue?

TR didn't want to come back or do more episode to give his character proper closure. That's on TR's hands not the writers.
I'm glad to see Izzie will still have a pivotal role to play. We only have four original interns left, and I rather she have screentime as compared to Arizona or Lexie.

katherine heigl is really lucky to have stayed and still be on the show.. i mean she basically said the writing wasnt good enough for her to go for an emmy.. if you insult the writers then if i was a writer i'd be pissed i'd pretty much be like fine whatever we'll kill you.. i'm surprised it wasn't TR that stayed and katherine that left but i guess TR did ask to stay.. i miss george-- he's so lovable and sweet(: but katherine (izzie) would probably get less scenes wouldn't she? Since they are all pretty ticked at her and she's lucky to still be on.. gosh the show has about as much drama as the hospital does lol

Sheesh, just rename the show Steven's Anatomy. Might as well, last season was full of her illness, next season will be full of her recovery. I'm sorry, I know a lot of people really like Izzy, but to me she's always seemed like a selfish character. George was the more likeable character, and if he hadn't been neglected the whole season, TR probably wouldn't have asked to leave the show.

Yes, they should rename it to Izzie's Anatomy. I honestly don't think I can't take any more of this storyline but since EP is going on maternity leave soon...I think we won't get a break. Whatever. They should've killed her and let George live.
I'm not even sure if I want to see the season premiere anymore. I'll probably just DVR it. FF all the Izzie parts.
Sorry, this made me angry.
@Andie, I don't think that Shonda loves Katie, I just think that she wants her to keep her mouth shut so she gives her the material. Maybe the rest of the cast should start whining.
