The sixth (!) season of Grey's Anatomy gets underway Thursday, September 24 at 9 p.m.
Amazing that Grey's Anatomy has been on that long - and we don't know how we're expected to wait that long for the show we love to resume with new episodes again!
The official premiere date for Private Practice has not been announced, however one can safely assume it will follow Grey's Anatomy that same evening at its usual 10 p.m.
Preceding Grey's on that Thursday evening will be ABC's much-hyped sci-fi drama Flash Forward. By the way, it has now been reported that Dominic Monaghan will be starring on that series, and not our beloved Grey's Anatomy, which some had speculated.

Well, if Private Practice will follow Grey's that same night at 10, I guess we can assume there won't be a 2-hour season premiere of Grey's :( Too bad, cause I think we deserve a double dose of Grey's after managing to wait so long.
Btw, why did people even think it was Grey's Dominic Monaghan would appear on? Why jump to that conclusion? I don't see it. There are many shows on ABC.

It just says that the writer assumes PRivate Practice will premiere that same night, but I am betting not. Last year Private Practice premiered a week later than Grey's. I hope we get 2 hours or Grey's on the 24th, we will need it. I can't believe it is still so far away!

September 24th...sigh...seems like a looong time.
@CC - If ABC hasn't released PP's premiere date already may be to a numerous reasons, including one that might be that GA is going to have a two hour premiere. If you remember, PP had its season finale a couple of weeks (or was it just one week?) before the GA finale in order to have the Thursday line up free for the GA two hour finale.
As for Dominic, Ausiello reported that Dominic was on one "established one hour drama" on ABC. As far as established go, Brothers & Sisters, GA and Lost (obviously not since he is dead there) are the top options and given the theory that has been going around about replacing TR but not George, this came as an obvious choice.
FF is set to premiere also on the 24th but this is a new show, not established, so his use of words confused thousands of people, including me.

on e-online it says that Grey's Anatomy will run September 24th from 9-10 pm, I think they would have written it down if it was a two-hour premiere, because it says 8-10pm for Ugly Betty, so we might not get the two hours we want

I am so excited that we now have a date to mark on our calendars!
I'm also excited to hear that the writers went back to work on Monday! That means that our stories are now being written! (yey)!
