why is Sara Ramirez overlooked every year? She should have gotten the nod during the Izzie/George year, but I think this year is very appropriate as well.
Also, if Brooke Smith gets a nomination, its going to be one awkward evening.
@shadx, remember these aren't the official nominations. This are the entries that Grey's submitted for the Emmys. You'll know for sure once the Emmy noms, which btw Chandra is announcing, are announced on July 16th.

I definitley think Ellen should win. She has been nominated ever since Grey's Anatomy has been on but has won nothing! Though, I think Katherine did an excellent job she has won enough. Ellen Ellen Ellen!
Best lead actress (Sorry for Ellen fans, I don't think she can win, she is good, but not great, she is not always good like Sandra Oh, Chandra Wilson, Ellen has her owen moments, but that is just it. )
Best supporting actress (KH, SO and CW all has chance to win, they are all brilliant, but yeah it seems like KH has more chance, but I hope it is Sandra).
Best supporting actor (Kevin Mckidd, this man is pure brilliant, and has already got ton of praises from the media, I do think he has a shot to make it).

Lead actress: Ellen Pompeo (of course) but she has tough competitiors in other shows so it will be hard for her to get a nom
Supporting actress: Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson (both should win an Emmy in my opinion)
Supporting actor: Patrick Dempsey. I prefer to have him in the lead, but since he hasn't gotten much screentime this season (thanks to Heigl and her big ego), he may have a better chance of getting a nom in this category.
Guest actress: Tyne Daly. But I think Sharon Lawrence was great too though.
Guest actor: Eric Stoltz

Patrick Dempsey as a supporting actor??? He seems to have already surrendered if he doesn't consider himself as the lead actor, I bet he gets a lead actors salary. Yes for Ellen, but I think the odds are she will be continually overlooked. The others, why?
I think Ellen Pompeo will be nominated for the lead but won't win.
For Supporting Actress I hope Sandra Oh takes it. Or Chandra Wilson. They're both fantastic.
For Supporting Actor I think Patrick Dempsey could take it. But it would be great to see Eric Dane or Kevin Mckidd take it home.
For guest Actress I'm absolutely pulling for Amy Madigan. She's one heck of a therapist. I need her in my life. If not her then any one of the following: Tyne Daly-hilarious, Faye Dunaway-compelling, Sharon Lawrence-heartbreaking, Samantha Mathis/Jennifer Westfeldt-very real and sympathetic.
For Guest Actor I would absolutely have to give it to Geoffrey Dean Morgan. No other guest has had a greater impact on the show. But some top contenders would be Ben Shenkman and Eric Stoltz. Their stories were definitely the most creative and affecting.
As for the Drama entries- I really like both. they both featured some of mark and lexie's more humorous and tender moments. either won would be worthy of a win. :)
I posted earlier about PD's probable motives for submitting himself as supportive and not lead. I personallly blame KH's big "I'm not giving Emmy worthy material" ego to push back PD. In theory, both PD and EP should be the only ones allowed for Lead. Not really sure how that works since I have no one idea under what conditions the cast was casted as (supportive, lead, etc).
Ellen has the Emmy material but Emmy's have been known for giving awards for popularity or big CV's. Disappointing but true.
As for the salary, both EP and PD recieve Lead salaries. Last time I read, both earned about $250,000 per episode ($6,000,000 a season) and KH didn't. I believe that there were reports surfaced where she wanted to make around the same that EP and PD made but because she was casted as supportive, contract negotiations didn't work out. Next contract negotiations are after season 7, if the show does go on.

For supporting actress...I think Sara, Chandra, and Sandra are all deserving of a nomination...especially the later two.
Guest actress: Faye, Kate, and Melissa all were superb.

Supporting Actor: Patrick Dempsey!!! He made a really great season. I also think he made a great job playing dark & twisty Derek. But I also would be happy if Eric Dane wins.

Ellen has showed repeatedly she is a good actress, just look at range of what she had to show in her storylines. I think the odds are it will be a film star actress who wins the Emmy, the voters seem to be stuck/overawed that a film actress would dain to do a tv series! I am disappointed that Patrick didn't submit himself for the best actor, there must be a hot favorite for the Emmy. Have to say I wasn't convinced by Chandra's acting at times, I do like her though. I did find Eric Stoltz very creepy and deserving of some sort of acknowledgment for sending chills down me every time he was on screen

I actually think it's funny how people think Sara Ramirez or Chyler Leigh should be nominated...Are you guys high? Yes, Sara Ramirez is a good actress, but this season Callie's storylines were just RIDICULOUS. Sort of entertaining, but so, so silly. And Chyler Leigh...she's endearing, but that's all.

I think Katherine, Chandra and Sandra are amazing but I guess with this year's storyline Katherine is most likely to win.
Ellen is also amazing but we didn't see enough of her this year and she couldn't demonstrate enough of her talent compared to her fellow residents + Bailey

If Heigl wins I will be so pissed. That will show if ya wine like a big baby you can win. I think that Dr Bailey should win. For her scene in the OR when she ask Derrick not to save the serial killer. Cause they needed his organs for her little patient. That scene was heart wrenching. As was the scene when Merridith went to the exacution of the SK. When it was over and she was talking to Derrick her acting was never done so well as it was at that moment. Loved it!!!! As much as I love Callie I don't think that she got enough good story lines to be considered. I so think that Erica Hahn should be in the running for her "Glasses" scene and win. That was one of the best scenes I've ever seen on Grey's. I also think that Dr Bailey should be considered for her scene with Callie talking about the sour dough beard. That was to funny. I have to take back what I said about Callie not getting anything this year. The scene with she and Bailey talking about her going on a date with Erica was sooooo funny. That should have been good for something. Didn't think that Derrick had anything this year that put him in the running. I hated dark and twisted Derrick. Alex's acting sucked this year. I think Owen Hunt should head back to the army and get off my tv screen. LOL!!! I so don't like him. Denny D Grrrr!!!! I thought he did a good job as the patient. But when he was brought back as Izzy's visions. I was so done with him and cringed every time I seen him. So I don't think he should be considered for anything. There have been alot of great scenes with him in them this year. And what can ya say about Sloan he is easy on the eyes and is so funny. I really like him. I hope he is considered for something. I like Christina too and she should get considered for something for her choking scene. That was way scary. So who is left Lexie? She didn't do anything that is even note worthy this year.
