Ok, I am not saying that KH is a b*tch for her opinions. All I'm saying is that everything that you say has a repercussion and that she should've waited before saying anything. I understand her comments on Knocked Up. Didn't exactly agreed with it (it was only a movie after all) but she did have a point. She could've waited a couple of years before she said anything but she didn't. It's up to her.
About the Emmy's comment. Why did she had to explain her actions? Or better, why did she had to say anything at all? Maybe she really didn't have an Emmy storyline but why say it? Most TV critics to this as a slap in the face to the writers. Maybe she didn't knew that this could feel that way but I don't think that Katherine wasn't smart enough to know that this could be bad for some people.
Somebody asked about her asking a lighter storyline in S.4. I believe it was Ausiello the one that reported that she asked for that storyline so that she could film her movies (I believe it was The Ugly Truth) while on schedule with the show.
To ME, I just feel that there are some things that you need to keep to yourself, if that is going to hurt other people or it's going to backfire to you.
About George, I think that he could have so much more if he had the chance to. We haven't finish seeing the last of him and I do think that his recuperation could be a great dynamic of the Fab. 5, Lexie, Mark (hopefully, break them up) and everyone else.
I do think that unless Izzie gets a little pushed back this season, I don't know how much more I can take about the cancer storyline. It was squeezed until the last minute. Her hallucinations started on Ep. 7 (Rise Up) and the cancer got diagnosed officially in Ep. 17 (I Will Follow You Into The Dark), got her surgery in Ep. 19 (Elevator Love Letter) and another one in Ep. 23 (Here's to Future Days). I put the Ep. number to realize that this storyline has been dragging a little longer. It'd seem more realistic if Izzie died or like I said, pushed back during S.6, if Izzie lives.
If Ellen Pompeo does go on maternity leave, I assume that PD will go absent for a while as well and they could wrap up the cancer storyline or let it rest for some time. With George, they could begin something absolutely new.

As for then KH comments. She never really slammed the writers, and I read she even said she supports the writers and it is not their decision where the storyline goes. She never said, "the writers sucked and gave me crappy material so I will not submit my name for Emmy consideration." She was even asked the question while she was walking down the street if she was putting in for an Emmy. That's how it came about. She didnt' hold this mass press conference. She was asked a question, and she answered truthfully. Nothing ungratful about that. As for the Knocked Up comment, she said she enjoyed doing the movie 99% of the time. I agree with her to a point about the character, but I have acted in the past and believe me, a lot of people express their disapointment on their charcater. It's not that uncommon, and not a big deal. She didn't make a huge stink of it. If she said she was miserable doing the movie because of the character and the writing, than that is different. But she did not say that.

Hey, wicked, I totally agree with you. I never thought ill of KH when I heard about these statements she's made in the past. We all know what the media is able to do. It can create a god out of someone and the next moment just tear that apart. And what makes me most certain that KH is not the b*tch everyone seems to think she is, is that she KNOWS THAT. She knows how this business works. At an Oprah interview, before everything happened, Oprah asked her how did it feel to be this famous actress everyone loves. And KH says it's great but that she knows how easily these things can change. I honestly can't believe that someone that is aware of that could actually make statements that would jeopardize their career. I honestly believe there's a double standard there, like wicked said; and that her words and intentions were twisted to fit some sort of media story. That's how things work, really.
To everyone who keeps saying that the actors and writers are ungrateful to the fans; that without us they are nothing, etc, I have to disagree. We are their fans only because they do an awesome job, and they work hard to do that job. If they were less than extraordinary they would be dead to us, and you know it. I mean, how many people have stopped or are threatening to stop watching the show because they feel the story isn't doing anything for them anymore? Lots of people. How many people now hate Izzie because of some twisted connection they make between Izzie and KH's statements? Not many admit it, but I'm sure there are loads of you out there.
These people, these actors and writers, if they do something we don't agree with; if they don't achieve our expectations; they're dead to us. No one is blindly loyal to anyone here. We are not doing them any favors by watching the show, we are merely admiring a job well done. And when we feel we don't need the show anymore, we'll stop watching, no explanations attached. You think they're ungrateful? Grey's Anatomy is a small part of our lives - an important, very important, small part - but SMALL, nonetheless. For them, however, it's their job. It's a BIG part of their lives. They don't owe us anything. They owe something to themselves, and as human beings, they know that and they're probably doing their best to do a good job.
I know many of us are in fact very loyal to the show and continue to watch it even when it's not doing anything for us anymore. But you have to agree with me that we're a minority, and as a minority, there's nothing we can do to keep the show on if the general public isn't watching anymore. And at some point, our loyalty will fade away and we're just gonna stop caring. We are not doing anyone any favors.

I won't watch if TR leaves. I feel Shonda ripped us George fans all season. I wanted to see him and Izzie clsoe again. I wanted him to find love again. I wanted to see the ramifications of all he went through. If he felt alone and isolated like they hinted at the end, I wanted to see that. TR would have rocked a depressed George story. I wanted George to become the great doctor I always knew he was without it happening over 5 minutes in 2 episodes.
There is so much more they can do with George. It feels like everyone else got to have something, except him. I don't get that. TR is so talented, and George is so loved.
And yes I am a Gizzie fan, both friendship and romantic-wise. I'll always think they belong together, but I would have accepted them as just best friends again if it only allowed TR and Katie to shine together again and I would have accepted someone new with George if it made him happy. I love George.
I have invested five years rooting for him, to get his happy ending, and I get nothing all season and 5 minutes until they kill him off in such a horrible manner.
That's not fair.
I could have lived with George leaving if I had seen him all season, and had been able to say goodbye. I could have done that if he had stayed alive.
Now, I just feel like this character and we have been royally robbed.
So I will leave if he goes.
As for Katie, I don't hate her. I just find it weird some people say Katie is not a whiner when she has complained publicly then go on to say TR is a whiner based on rumors when the man never said anything. Heck the guy didn't even badmouth Isaiaih when isiah kept saying terrible things about him.
I respect him and admire him as a person, and always will.
I wonder if TR wasn't gay. If he was black and IW was gay and ahd made those comments against him, if anyone would be defending TR? I don,t think so. Racism seems inexcusable, as it should be, but homophobia seems perfectly fine.
I think that my point about KH is getting out of context. My only point is that KH may not mean that her comments are ungrateful or a slap in the face but it certainly is perceived that way. True, the press helps a lot in either sense but I don't believe that KH isn't aware of the aftermath of such remarks. Maybe she didn't have bad intentions, maybe she did, however it is, she should at least pick a better timing out of it or don't say anything at all.
I do agree that being a writer for this show is an incredibly difficult job. No fan is ever going to be happy. There wasn't enough MerDer, where was George?, Cris/Owen didn't have a storyline in X episode. Keeping everyone happy is virtually impossible. There is just no way to do it but I do believe in a balance being made. Episodes like the SK arc and ELL had really good balance in terms of characters (with the obvious exception of George).
And yes, I was one of those persons that made the Izzie/KH connection for her cancer storyline because it's the only way that I can explain myself how Izzie suddenly became front line and other important storylines like Meredith's growth, Derek's depression and Owen's PTSD were pushed for a supporting storyline.
Even back when the Denny/Izzie storyline came out, it wasn't as invasive as this season's cancer storyline. That is the why of my Izzie/KH connection. I don't look for anyone to agree with me on this but to me it's the only explanation I'll settle with.
Season 5 was overall excellent, with the exception of the huge amount of guest stars and to me, the invasive Izzie cancer.
I think that if the writer's had extended Derek's dark period a little bit more, we have had more sessions of Dr. Wyatt and Owen, or George in the screen for once, I'd be a little happier. And with this, I support my statement of being a writer in this show is incredibly difficult.
And this is another report about George. This time, he's not leaving. This is going to be a looooong summer.

I've been going over and over this george/izzie issue in my mind and I can;t decide what I want, or what I'm hoping for,,,
I want them alive-duh
But I'm also looking at the integrity(bad englisch sorry) of the show...the Izzie-cancer storyline had been going on since e07...she had 5% chance of survival-BEFORE the new meds, and the small "inoperable" braintumor-that's BAD. Okay, they removed the braintumor etc but now she's coding...she should die. Can't believe I said that (I watch grey's mainly because of Izzie) but I think that's the best way to go.
If they let her live, and thats very possible given it's a tv show, she still is sick. NASTY SICK. And I can garantiue that there will be backslash because then it will be "why Is Izzie still alive, SERIOUSLY??!!" and they will be right.
Because this wasn't a big storyline off season 5....it was THE storyline off season 5. denny came back to get Izzie-I GET IT NOW. I think it was BRILLIANTLY done: I just watch s05 again and I really like all the Izzie/denny hallicunations because now I look at it differently-knowing that Death was coming for her. And because they took a HUGE leap of faith with the whole saga-it should pay off. With her dying. I'm sorry if this sounds morbid, but if she dies I will be devasteded, but also at peace with it.
If she lives, well, we'll see but if the writers want some realism in the show they should keep her bald and sick and throwing up.
And that will make me even more heartbroken and sad.
Or they can do a time-jump, but I really hate that. Not with this show please.
as for george-I think his story isn't done. I have a feeling he will be the one that lives.
Or they both will.
I DON'T HAVE A F****NG CLUE!!!

Every George scene was always so magic.
I just don't know how Shonda could not realize what an amazing character George was. Sweet, funny, loyal, adorable, hot, and a prince charming with self-esteem issues.
He was complex and wonderful.
He was so lovable.
Now I'm crying again.
I barely forgived her for breaking up George and Izzie. Then she had to neglect their friendship and treat George like some wallpaper.

Ok...so Shonda said that the season opener would link back to the season finale. Derek was hit by a bus while driving and he died in Meredith's dream, so I'm pretty sure that George got hit by a bus and will die because of it...
I completely agree with the first post. I won't believe it until someone official actually confirms it instead of this stupid spoiler/rumor crap.
But I really don't want George or Izzie to go. :(
Facial, good connection to it. Shonda does like symmetry so maybe she basically told us from the beginning and none of us noticed!
Izzie dying makes more sense than George dying. George is unfinished. I still think that we could have a lot more told about George than about Izzie. Like Freddie said, the cancer storyline was THE storyline of S.5 and they squeezed it to the last minute. IF she does live, her cancer story is going to have to be pushed back for a little. However, if George lives, this could be a fronline storyline on his recovery. I'd like to see that.

I think Izzie is gone and George will live. Her heart stopped earlier than George's so he cannot wait for her in heaven or he cannot be dead yet. Izzie really died when she entered the elevator which is taking her to heaven, maybe even to Denny. But on her way there the elevator stopped for George. Since he did not get into the elevator he will survive. Izzie has a sad and confused face because she cannot believe George is dying too. She will stop him from entering the elevator so he can live. Unfortunately I think T.R. Knight is gone, and they will get a new actor who can play George since his face is damaged (just like Eva's was). Izzie and George(played by T.R.) are my favorite characters so this is all very sad. GA will not be the same without Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight. I think I may just watch the beginning of the next season just to see what happened and if they are gone I will not continue.
I don't think they'll let George live because his recovery would take up a major part of the next season and this, to a great extent, would be a bit repetitious to Izzie's storyline this season (of course, there are major differences, but the core is the same- one of the main (?) doctors on the show turns into a patient). Moreover, if they let Izzie live, we would have both characters lying in hospital's beds. I don't think this is going to happen.

She's so boring now and so damn self-centered.

George is way more interesting to me, and he has so much left to do.
Let Katie become the big movie star and give TR his chance to shine.

I'd rather she die, or that George and Izzie died together. That way we Gizzie fans could get our couple.

I can’t believe you people. As Cristina would say, people, people, seriously get a life.
In the original Charlie’s Angel TV series, Farrah Fawcett was the big hype just like Katherine Heigel. Farrah was the least talented of the three, just like Kathryn Heigel, and Jacquelyn Smith and Kate Jackson continued on after Farrah made her big exit. Charlie’s Angel survived without her for a few years with Cheryl Ladd, Shelley Hack, and Tanya Roberts with new characters and story lines.
I might add that George Clooney was very popular on ER and he was missed when he left, however, ER went on for several years without him. Many wonderful actors left ER, even our most beloved Mark Greene-Anthony Edwards, but due to the first rate production staff and writers, it continued to be a first rate drama series with different actors and different story lines.
I for one am ready to move on with Shonda Rhimes without Kathryn Heigel and TR Knight on to the next season as the remaining actors’ roles are expanded and developed. Without all the drama these two have created maybe we can focus the storylines back to Meredith and Derek--Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey, the real stars of the show. Both of this actors have so much depth, watch them closely, both can transition their character from one feeling or state of mind by just the change in their facial expressions and tone of voice.
Let's move on, and hopefully, years from now, fans will be talking about Grey's Anatomy in the same reverie that they do ER.

Watching this show since day one you almost feel like their family and when a family member dies its so hard to get over!

Meh. I got used to the show without George. If he leaves, it's fine by me!

Damn it!

You know. I never realized how much I loved George until the last two seasons when he vanished.
I mean I always liked him, bbut I never realized how much humor and heart and soul he added to the show until he went missing.
I hope it's not too late.
I know this is TV, but George feels like a cherished friend.
He is so sweet and loving, and just lovable.
I want to see him be happy, and to see more of his wonderful smile. It always makes me feel better.

this frustrates me to no end. the scene in the finale where george tells izzie that she knows what to do about her surgery dilemma broke my heart. it was such a good george scene, and probably the last one he will ever have. why couldnt shonda have wrote george into more scenes like that one?? he could have still been here and now the show will never be the same.

It's not fair. I just hate Shonda so much.
At least I'll have an hour free of my life now.
I hope all the George fans stop watching. Let's show Shonda how much George meant to us.

Well said, Freddie. I don't really see how they can keep Izzie alive after everything. It feels like she should die. Don't know about George though, it all seemed pretty sudden.

I always thought O'mally was borring in Grey's. But I truly feel sorry for the fans that loved him.
Selfish enough I hope this is true, cause that means Izzie might stay.

So what? Izzie got her story told. Now it's George's turn. He waited two years for it.
I'm a Gizzie fan, and I used to love Izzie. Not anymore. Alex and the Izzie anatomy show has made me hate her.
She's so boring now and so damn self-centered.
Her story is finished.
George is way more interesting to me, and he has so much left to do.
Let Katie become the big movie star and give TR his chance to shine.
He's the most amazing actor on Grey.
He leaves, I'm gone.
If she kills him, she's going to lose so many fans. Recasting him also won't go well at all.

I'd much rather Izzie leaves. She got to be a surgeon, get married. She had her dreams come true.
What did George have? Nothing.
He has so much left to do, and there's so much more story to tell with him than Izzie.
I'd rather she die, or that George and Izzie died together. That way we Gizzie fans could get our couple.
I don't want to see Izzie live on without George. I'm fine with George living without her, but not the opposite.
