I don't think it's just Shonda that needs to remember the fans, I think it's the actors too! They seem to forget the fans made them as popular as they are! If it wouldn't be for us, they would be just another actor on a soap or a lifetime movie and nothing more. They wine about emmys and not getting the right story line, but honestly who do they think they are. Without grey's they will be tainted and no one will want to work with them in a seriously big role because of the amount of trouble and hot headedness they show. Give me a break!

Perezhilton is reporting that he is not leaving. And has a statement. I do not know whether to believe it since it is not in Shonda Rhimes tweeter. WHO KNOWS?? I only believe Shonda and the actor saying if they let them out or they still in.
Shonda isn't going to say anything on TR's status until the season premiere airs and by then we'll have her answer to it. All Shonda wants is to keep the show on everybody's mouth and she's doing it well by fueling the rumors.
I read both stories and while half of them are crap, there is truth in it. I'm not sure what to believe exactly. I never heard anything about Shonda hating TR since the IW incident (I believe that it was the opposite). However, due to some of Shonda's statements after the show's SF, somebody is going to die and this made it more likely that it'd be George.
@Christy, word, word, word. This is some of the resons of why I absolutely love Patrick and Ellen. They do seem to know how much their characters mean to all GA fans and try to stay true to them. Ellen credited the success of the show to the fans and Patrick only has nice comments about it, so I really don't know TR or KH's problem by not saying anything or even consider it before they ask to be released of their contracts and the whining part.
anuflas--
I guess, if you wish to complain about the actors whining, you could complain about KH's comment and withdrawal from Emmy consideration after S4 (although I still don't think it justified, but that's MO), but you can not complain about and make accusations about TRK whining, b/c there is nothing official about anything he has said. He has remained respectfully quiet. I agree w/ you that Ellen & Patrick are class acts. But I also think KH and TRK are as well. If you must call them "whiners", have something REAL to back up your claim. That's the problem w/ this article... this isn't real anything... this source IS NOT viable... did you guys see Gwen's post on p.1 of the comments here? This guy from E!Online is the same guy who had reported that TRK was getting married... when that was not true at all. Fine if you want to state your OPINION on whether TRK or KH should go, but don't call TR a whiner when there's nothing to quote on.
I get your point. And I'd like to clarify some things that really didn't come up the way I wanted to.
About the article, like I said, as much lies can come but there is something true to all of it, we just don't know what part. Shonda is not going to say the truth...why should she if this is going to keep the show on the headlines. Neither Mark or Kristin (also from E) or Perez are 100% reliable but something has to come out of all of it.
Now, I didn't mean to call TR a whiner...he never struck to me as one, hence a part of the article I didn't believe. I also read the reports in December about wanting out but he chose the quiet (and more respectful) way to deal with it. I apologize that I didn't make myself clear.
But I'm sorry, Katherine by all means is one. This is MY opinion and unfortunately, I can't change that one. If the Emmy's comment last year (justified or not) isn't enough then season 5 should finish it. Howcome she makes a remark about the writer's where SHE asked for a lighter storyline and then say that? And later, she gets the lead storyline (yep, I'm one of those bitter MerDer fans, but also Cris/Owen and hell, even for George's sake)?
I can speculate and say that this was a chain of events and you could tell me that maybe it's all a coincidence and this was Shonda's plan all along but was it so hard not to say anything? She really didn't need to say anything about her Emmy withrdrawl, I don't see Patrick commenting about dropping to supporting. Maybe the word whiner is wrong to describe her actions, but they seem ungrateful. And about what she said about Knocked Up? Maybe she thought she was defending women but all she did was to say ungrateful things. One of her co-stars (can't remember who exactly) commented about her remarks. Is it really necessary to speak up or complain every time that she doesn't agree about an issue or a storyline or anything at all?
I've seen interviews about Ellen not liking Meredith's actions but never anything like this. Like I said, probably whiner isn't the word but I don't know how to label her actions.
Lauren Says:

Opinionated is probably the word to describe Katherine, in my opinion. However, I don't remember her actually asking for a lighter storyline. Did she do so? I only remember her just taking her name out of the running for the Emmy's and all that.
That being said, while some of the stuff she does say can be uncalled for, who is to say that she can't have an opinion? I'm not defending her, but she can say whatever the hell she wants, and you sort of can commend her for doing so, especially in the profession she's in, where her words are constantly tracked or misconstrued, or what have you. She just doesn't seem to care if people have an issue with what she says.
I also agree that Patrick and Ellen are class acts, and that's one of the reasons I like them, but I also like Katherine and TR, despite what they say outside of the show, however I'm disappointed in their respective characters. Izzie has been a whiner for a few seasons, and not the motivated surgeon she once was. George has just gone nowhere since Season Two, in my opinion. Cristina and Meredith have pretty much stayed the same, except for Meredith becoming not so dark and twisty. And Alex has made a great turnaround in not being such an ass.
I probably went off topic, but the point is the show has definitely not been what it once was, and I think that letting George die would just be one more thing that will not help. Maybe he should have complained. It got Katherine a pretty good storyline :P

O.k. Turns out what blogs were putting were wrong information about what Shonda really had on her twitter account. Go Figure??? This is what she stated (I'am not sure) but want to put it still. from JustJared.com. And I will say it again I only believe Shonda and the actor/actress themselves saying whether they live or stay. Here is her account http://twitter.com/shondarhimes and the comment is not there. I guess we all just have to be patient and enjoy the summer becuase it is going to be a long one. I know... i want to know what will happen with all the actors and their storylines but i guess we have to wait.
Multiple sources confirm to E!’s Marc Malkin that T.R. Knight will not be returning to Grey’s Anatomy next season.
False reports are circulating that the show’s creator Shonda Rimes rebuffed this news, calling it “a hilarious, ridiculous rumor.”
Well, Shonda did in fact tweet those words but she was responding to the ridiculous rumor that Dr. George O’Malley would have facial reconstructive surgery and his role would be re-cast.
Here’s the original tweet: “Heard a rumor about George today. Said that TR would be replaced (by plastic surgery) and we’d still have George.”
Dr. George O’Malley is, in fact, dead. Live with it!
thanks for clarifying :) I get what you are saying now... glad you retracted/clarified that you don't think TR is a whiner... and agree with me that he has been very respectfully quiet.
I agree w/ you too, that the truth probably lies somewhere in between. Shonda says TR didn't appear much b/c she was setting up for the John Doe story in the S5Finale... didn't want us to "notice" he was gone... then there's the other extreme where the entertainment media has gone off the deep end and said over and over that TR is a diva and wants out and that he & Shonda "hate" each other... I don't think either of these are entirely true. I think the truth lies in the middle somewhere. I don't think TR's a diva AT ALL-- doesn't seem his personality type at all-- he's always seemed to be a bit shy, quite respectful and his co-workers all say he is great to work with and is always there working hard. But I also do believe that Shonda had her plan for the finale and did guide things a bit to suit the storyline and set up for shock factor. But at the same time, I think something may have happened behind the scenes to cause tension-- furthering the lack of George for most of the season. idk... I don't think we'll ever get the complete truth on that.
As for Katherine... I respect your opinion. I know many fans have felt that way about her outspoken-ness. Here's my opinion...
Lauren says:

I agree 100% on this-- this explains what I think of KH's outspoken-ness completely. I happen to really respect that she says what she truly thinks and doesn't worry about how it sounds to the world, whether it's "P.C." enough, etc. Yes, sometimes she can sound harsh, but I think she's fabulous for always speaking the truth and laying it out there and being true to herself. Of course, as I said b/f I can understand how you, and other fans, might not like what she's got to say at times. I completely respect your opinion there.
I mostly wanted to clear up the TR stuff-- it seems some of the entertainment media like to paint him as a diva and I think it really influences a lot of people's view of him. It really doesn't make any sense b/c there is so much evidence to the contrary.
Lauren-- I think George's character has grown more than you give him credit for over the past couple of seasons, but I can understand how anyone could miss it b/c it's all in very small moments.
And yes, there is a small part of me that hopes the big happy hope that all this time, Shonda has been giving George some space and all this torture and seeing our brave George suffer was for the purpose of setting up to really launch him forward into some fantastic storyline and reconnection to all of those he is close with.
Look, I'm not taking Katherine's right about having an opinion and being outspoken but if life has taught me anything (and I hope it has) is that there is a time to say it. Her comments about the Emmys came right after the writer's strike and it felt like a slap in the face to them. The comments on Knocked Up came up after the movie became a box office and introduced her officially to the movie industry (true, she had other movies but this was the "it" moment). She had bad timing and I still don't understand what she wanted to achieve with those comments.
Also, there are some comments that you can keep to yourself. I'd kept the Emmy's comment to myself. It didn't do good to anyone, not even herself. She has a right to say it, yes she does but sometimes you gotta know which battles to fight so you can win the war.
That's me. I am also a very outspoken person but I had to deal with the aftermath of it and sometimes it isn't nice. I'm not sure if Katherine knows the repercussions (or in Shonda's words reverberations - I officially hate that word now) that her words can have, but I believe that if she did, she'd learn by now when to be outspoken and when not.
greysaddiction,
Good that that was clarified :D. I did get it that after my post it seemed that I mean that TR was also that way as KH. I like the fact that he chose the quiet respectful way, it says a lot of the person that he is, and for that, I take my hat off at him. Not many people can deal it like that, so my respect to him.
Shonda says that she pitches the last ten minutes of the show at the beginning of the season. This can be good since she has a plan but it lets her be less flexible to how to get there. I do believe that at least the Izzie flatlining part was pitched but I didn't get why George was there.
Shows have been known to give huge storylines to the characters that they are going to get killed off, at least on their last season. ER gave Mark Greene a brilliant storyline with family issues and his cancer. Lost and Julliet? (I still don't believe that she is dead). The O.C. and the decline of Marissa, etc. George was sidelined through the entire season. This is why it'd make more sense if Izzie died than George. I'm fearing that this is going to be come the Grey's version of Mark Greene.
I think that the writer's squeezed all they could out of George in S.3 and S.4. with his marriage to Callie, the death of his father, Gizzie (not a fan but it was a huge storyline), his repeat internship and it suddenly stopped there. I really wanted to see the aftermath to all of it. Having his clean break. I'm with you on the dream that his recuperation could be an incredible storyline. It could be his clean break and do over.
PS - I knew it was George the minute that he stared at Mer after not being able to draw the 007. I was angry that Mer couldn't recognize those eyes! LOL.
I'm with Gracey too. No one should really believe this. We need it from the mouth of Shonda and our own eyes when we see the premiere. :)
hallie Says:

Won't believe it until it's confirmed by Shonda or the premiere.
I think both of them should live. Also for the actors, there maybe was a lot of tension, but in this struggling economy, I personally would be happy to even have a stable, well paying job. But maybe that is just me.
Also Shonda would never replace a character with another actor, she has even said she doesn't believe in that.
I personally think in a perfect world, it would be fun if there were no rumors so we could be totally and completeley surprised by the premiere. And George and Izzie would both live. The original (like from season 1 plus McSteamy), in my opinion, should stick together.
Francois Says:

I think George grew a lot actually.
Look at how great he was in the trauma room. He was calm and collected. When he lost all those patients, it was difficult but he went on with it. He showed he cared but he also was professional.
He also showed how much he had grown with Sadie. Trying to help but reporting her when she proved dangerous to the hospital.
George is also the only character on this show who would be selfless enough to get hit by a bus for a complete stranger. He also showed how mature he was and what a great person he is by never becoming bitter or cold or mean, something most people would have been if they had went heartache after heartache like he did.
I think Izzie pointed that out to him.
I think some people don't give George enough credit, but for the guys like us who watch, George is the guy we can all relate to and all want to be more like.
His only problem is a lack of trust in himself at times, but this doesn't show up when he is doing a surgery. It used to be. He came far far from 007.
I don't think TR hates Shonda. He never said a word against her.
I like patrick and Ellen but I would point out Patrick said one time he would leave if he didn't get big storylines anymore. TR had almost no storyline for two years. He also bashed the season 3 and 4 writing, saying it was awful.
Ellen also said that MerDer was like a trainwreck and criticized several stories.
TR, on the other hand, has never said a word.
I don't know why he should be grateful to a show that gives everyone else but him respect and why he should be thankful to fans who believe completely unfounded rumors about him when he has never said a word.
I am pretty sure most of us would leave if treated the way he has been the last two eyars, bad economy or not.
I am a lawyer, and what Shonda has been doing to him is harrassment.
I also would like to add that my wife and I watched this show for the Gizzie romance and George.
We were waiting for the fallout too, and nothing.
What a waste!
Thank go for great George and Gizzie stories by talented authors, way more talented than Shonda.
I don't have to deal with George's death. I can choose to quit like him, and I am.

Oh I didn,t want TR to complain because I didn't want him to get call a whiner like Katie, but hey it seems he is getting called a whiner when he hasn't said ONE DAMN WORDS.
What's up with this?
Find me one quote of TR where he is whining, just one.
This is making me so mad. TR is the most classiest guy of them all.
I do wonder if some people just like to call him a whiner because he's gay. Why else would they call a diva a guy who has never complained about anything at all or even demanded more money?
And like others have said, people leave jobs all the time if it makes them unhappy.
He's an actor. He wants to act.
Shonda is the one who had made him so unhappy, he wants to leave. Shonda is the one letting her hate for TR make all the fans suffer.
The fans love George and want him to stay, and she doesn't care.
I totally disagree about Izzie. She has been insufferable since she and George broke up. I guess he made her tolerable.
I still love her when I see her with george, but if she sticks with Alex, she can die for all I care.
George is the one I love, and he leaves, and I'm done.

It makes me sick that people are calling TR a whiner when we haven't even heard his side.
Those are all rumors. He has never spoken out. There are also rumors Shonda has made his life hell for two years. She's the bitch here.
She is punishing him for what Isaiah did.
I really wish TR would whine like big mouth whiner Katie did.
He got her the Izzie anatomy show.
Tr chsoe the high road, yet some people still call him a whiner.
Since Shonda rewards whiners like Shonda, I vote TR whines too. After all, KH might have gotten lousy stories but George ahs NO stories.
It might get him a big story too and at least the stupid haters would have a reason to say TR was a whiner.
I for one am gone after this year. Losing Gizzie and now losing George is too much.
Izzie lost me this season too. I liked her rare scenes with George and that was it.
Those Gizzie fanfics Francois mentionned are way better than the show.

I am reading some of these comments on KH having a right to her opinion, but that it was bad timing. It truly makes me laugh. So, yes she has an opinion, and people may not care for what she say's, but truly, what physical and emotional and major damage has she caused by speaking her mind?
This girl got thrown under the bus for stating that she was not going to put her name for Emmy consideration. If Tom Hanks were to say he was not going to put his name in for consideration of an Oscar because the material didn't give his character a "moment" {and he did for Apollo 13} no one said, "that Tom Hanks is one ungratful bastard!" Actor's have done that before, and the male actors are seen as stepping aside to give another actor a chance, becasue there character was not "Oscar worthy". But Katherine Heigel said "she didn't have the materials to give an Emmy worthy performance and does not want to take that away to actresses who did" and she is an ungrateful bitch. I FUCKING HATE THE DOUBLE STANDARD!
You don't have to be a fan of KH, but for God's sake, let her talk if she wants. I hate seeing ignorant people on the board saying, "she should shut up and do her job". WHAT THE FUCK!? Since when did Hollywood become Stalag 17? This is America, and everyone has a right to speak, in addition to doing their job. This makes me so angry.
GIVE THE GIRL A FREAKING BREAK! If she leaves GA, than good ridance for leaving a show where your bosses treat you like absolute shit.
I will refuse to believe any of these spoilers, at least until June 15th -if I'm right, then that's the date where Shonda has to decide what to do with the actors and the contracts etc. And she definitely won't give away anything until then. After that, she might stay quiet, but I'm sure we'll learn the truth during the summer.
So, until June 15th, there cannot be any reliable source in my opinion.
I really wish that both characters and actors would stay, but I also think that George is gone..."Off I go"...aaah.
I am pretty sure that Izzie will survive. The whole "screw the DNR", coming from the Chief...they will save her.
Oh and wicked: I absolutely and totally agree with you.
Dango Says:

Honestly, I think it'll be a little silly if Izzie survives. Not that I don't want her too. But, I mean, if she survives it'll be another of those medical miracles, right? And we already had one of those with Meredith.
@wicked Says: I totally agree with you! I don´t see KH as a b*tch because she took her name out of the Emmy race. If I´m not much mistaken, lots of actors do that, especially when there are other supporting actors on the same show that can enter the race. By doing that she can open up space for Sandra Oh or Chandra Wilson, who are as great actresses as KH, in my opinion. So, im really OK with that.
I guess I am one of the few people who gets George storyline. I don´t remember where I read it, but someone once said that the army storyline was long comming. I guess that to George understand the soldier who wanted to cut his leg of and come back to the war, he had to go through everything he went through. The loss of his father, his rushed marriage, his affair with Izzie, his broken marriage, failing the intern test and so on...
He had to have this feeling that he wasn´t making much difference where he were (although I disagree), because it was that feeling that made him enlist. And to me, this storyline took 2 or 3 seasons in the making. That´s why I think all those rummors where staged, about him wanting out and everything.
I think that if Shonda resented him for getting IW fired, she would have tossed him out at the end of season 3 (or even before that). If TR wanted out of his contract, he wouldn´t remain silent, and he wouldn´t "whine" saying that the writters dont´t give him good storylines. He would just got out...
And because i already wrote waaaay too much, I just want to say that I will go on believing none of them are dead untill I see them dead, in the beggining of season 6. :)

I totally agree w/ this. When originally it was reported, I went back and forth A LOT on what I thought about what she said... but I've ended up here-- I don't think she's a b*tch for it at all. And I very much respect her ability and willingness to speak her mind, as well. And as a celeb, everything she does and says has to be put under a media microscope-- give her a break!
But I also very much respect TR's quiet respectfulness. I truly think that TR is a class act. He has been quiet and respectful through all and some of the things said about him are more than deserving of a heated response-- the rumors are ridiculous! And he has not whined or said anything against the show or Shonda or whatnot. Truly a class act and an extremely talented actor who brought our beloved George to life and made him shine-- gave him all the heart and soul that makes us love George.

Wicked - I love what you said about KH. Just awesome. I agree.
Anuflas - I agree she did have some bad timing with Knocked Up, and I was pretty shocked she had those opinions on it, but as far as the Emmy's, it wasn't her fault that it was around the writer's strike. She would have said those words had it been or not, and she was still picketing with the writers as well. She can support them but be unhappy with what she was given. It happens.
Grey's Addiction: George DID grow as a character, but he really didn't get a lot of time to showcase it, like you mentioned. We saw bits and pieces instead of just one whole thing. I do love his character, and I love his friendship with Izzie.
Also, since someone mentioned how Mer could not recognize George's eyes .. how could she not recognize the face? He wasn't that disfigured. Or the hands or any part that was showing. Not only was he a roomie to her, but she slept with him! Not that she enjoyed it, but she did! lol She should have recognized something!
Thanks for the support, greysaddiction! It´s good to know that I´m not the only one who believes it! \o/
I'm kinda new to this website, and I'm kinda of not new... I read it for a loooooong time, but I was kind of shy to express my oppinion... But season 5 wouldn´t let me be quiet abou it! ;)
Here in Brazil we are a bit late... last episode on TV was "I will follow you into the dark". So I'm enjoying these last episodes. And knowing what will happend (and seeing it online, sometimes, cause I´m not made of iron...) makes you look at it differently! You kind of get the things that were betwen the lines, see things you wouldn´t normally pay attention the 1st time you watch the episode. :)
OK here is how it will go. George will not die. The magic of Dr. McSteamy will give him a new face and if TR wants to leave the show we love him and wish him all the best. No one should be unhappy in a place where they 75% of their waking hours but George will come back with a new face (job opening).
Izzy is on the elevator for the grand exit (George did not get on the elevator).
Katherine should have taken a cue from "Joey" in Friends, say something bad about the writers they put you down the elevator (reference Joey's interview regarding his "Days of Our Lives" interview not giving the writers the credit).
I still cry when I watch that episode. Who ever leaves will be missed.

It makes me mad people expect TR to stay at a place where his boss hates him for something someone did to him.

@greysaddiction,
I get your point.

Live with it!

anuflas--
thanks for clarifying :) I get what you are saying now... glad you retracted/clarified that you don't think TR is a whiner... and agree with me that he has been very respectfully quiet.
"That being said, while some of the stuff she does say can be uncalled for, who is to say that she can't have an opinion? I'm not defending her, but she can say whatever the hell she wants, and you sort of can commend her for doing so, especially in the profession she's in, where her words are constantly tracked or misconstrued, or what have you. She just doesn't seem to care if people have an issue with what she says."
A girl can dream, can't she? ;)
May 29th, 2009 12:03 AM
Lauren,
Opinionated! Thanks for that.
LOL.
May 29th, 2009 12:36 AM
I'm with Gracey too. No one should really believe this. We need it from the mouth of Shonda and our own eyes when we see the premiere. :)
May 29th, 2009 12:46 AM
May 29th, 2009 2:02 AM
May 29th, 2009 2:07 AM
May 29th, 2009 3:11 AM
May 29th, 2009 3:39 AM
May 29th, 2009 3:54 AM
May 29th, 2009 4:02 AM
Oh and wicked: I absolutely and totally agree with you.
May 29th, 2009 5:33 AM
Honestly, I think it'll be a little silly if Izzie survives. Not that I don't want her too. But, I mean, if she survives it'll be another of those medical miracles, right? And we already had one of those with Meredith.
May 29th, 2009 8:04 AM

I get it too, carolina-- you are not alone at all! And I really, truly hope and believe that Shonda could be setting him up for a big storyline next season... :)

WORD. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Not that she enjoyed it, but she did! lol She should have recognized something!

he's not leaving.

May 29th, 2009 11:01 AM
May 29th, 2009 11:50 AM
Oh I respect TR so much for staying quiet. I can't tell you how mad I get that he gets called a whiner by some people when the guy has never said a bad word against the show or anyone really.
It makes me mad people expect TR to stay at a place where his boss hates him for something someone did to him.
I love TR completely. He's the one who gave me my wonderful Geeorge. He's the one who gave me my wonderful Gizzie relationship.
So if someone attacks him unfairly, I will defend him.
I want him happy so if he leaves, I'll respect that but I won't watch Grey without him and I will never accept a new George.
