"For some reason the last espisode seemed too predictable to me? Once the patient with the leg injury began talking about the army infront of George I immdiately assumed he'd be going off to the army. And sometime between the Chief talking about George visiting his mother and the woman he saved talking about him, I figured out it was George who was hit by the bus. Very upsetting."

Totally agree! My friends and I got together to watch at and we have to whole thing figured out, with still a half hour left. The second Izzie said 'get it off your chest, I'll forget in a few seconds', we knew she'd get her memory back. I said it was George the second he came in (and then the girl said he was plain looking, and there was no effort to find family or medical history like there has been in the past, so we knew they were hiding who he was). And George was so into trauma, and seeing the recruitment office immediately made sense (because Hunt was given a discharge, so it isn't like he could just walk back up and go there again).
My friends and I were SO disappointed! I thought it was really predictable. The episode before really got me, whne Izzie started falling and George helped her down the aisle.

I cannot believe that the bus victim was George. I was hoping they would let him go to war, be the hero everyone thought he would be, the poor guy can't catch a break on this show! Now, he never made it to Iraq to earn the uniform he was wearing in the elevator scene or any of the stripes for that matter! I was not impressed with this season at all. I am, however, happy to see MerDer finally have a happy ending! It's about time!!

  3. Dr Riley Says:

Ok guys this is just a thought but all those rumours of Katherine Heigl and TR Knight are they or are they not leaving the show, would they have been leaked by one of Shondra's team? Shondra is the show's creator so the show is her baby, she has a plan, a map of what the season would hold, so she knew what was in store for Izzie so rumours of Katherine Heigl leaving would help if she/if she didn't die. TR Knight not being happy, well if George doesn't have alot of air time each episode then that just paves the rumours and leads perfectly to the

  4. Dr Riley Says:

ooops sorry, and leads perfectly to his part in the finale.... just a thought, and really if Shondra and her team of very talented writers did leak the unhappy rumours then...genius! And all the on/offs with MerDer season 5 just made it worth it. Our gal is all healed and whole! And McDreamy cut his hair....ahhhhhh

  5. Elizabeth Says:

PLEASE, I have just one request!

If George is dead, PLEASE let him die! DO NOT change his face and let another actor play him!

  6. greydefender Says:

The season ending was more like the ending of "Dynasty"..wherein the cast was killed...it never made a comeback..so shonda should learn from "others" mistakes..
Grey's is a good show...a breathe of fresh air..i would hate to see it loose its ratings..without George and Izzy..the five of them are the main characters of the show..irrespective of any new additions it will never take off without the original liked cast..

  7. yikes Says:

    Some of the best moments:

Beginning of 2nd half: the original 5 interns asleep together (including KH) waiting for Izzy to wake up. Wonderful.

Meredith's reaction to the writing on her hand: Wrenching

    Cristina's "I can't breathe without you"

Dynamite acting. Completely heartbreaking. Beautiful universal monologue at the end.

Cruel writers for creating such horrible suspense. EVIL.

  8. *rachel Says:

wow, so they didn't just not write him a storyline; they wrote him a storyline without writing him a storyline. now, i really doubt he dies, they werent nudging him out at all. idk i could be horrible dead, but i hope not.

  9. Al(136) Says:

Fantastic! This finale was superb, just a great end to a great season. Everyone on the show was fantastic, their acting was flawless. The cliffhanger is a bit of bummer but that is only because i'm incredibly impatient and NEED to know what happens. Shonda has created such a brilliant show, these characters feel like friends and as much as i'd hate to see even one of them go, after this season i trust Shonda to absolutely make the right decision for the show. Brillant, just brilliant.

  10. DS Says:

If George or Izzie Dies, the show will be a greater disapointment than the latest seasons had been until now. The first season was so damned good, then started to decay.

  11. Sabrina Says:

I'm sorry, but she sidelined an amazing actor all season to kill him offand have us shocked?

  12. Ally Says:

I really hope that we don's have to watch season 6 without T.R. The writers might not believe this, but fans do consider the characters as real individuals at one point. It was heart breaking to watch George in such a condition. When it came to Izzy we were all prepared in some way, but George... please bring him back next season. I hope we don't have to witness another ER show where main characters leave or die slowly.

  13. Larissa Says:

I need to apologize to the person who posted as "someone". My bad, seriously. His arm was still attached to his body. After watching the episode again, it just looked like George's arm was ripped off because the insides of his arm were on the outside. I'm still not seeing much of a future with him as surgeon. I mean look at Burke! He had tons of problems with his single GSW, let alone being hit by a bus and dragged along for half a block. :(

With Izzie, I sat and watched, and waited, for her to die for the last few weeks, and nothing happened. Then during the entire two hours, she was recovering, and then she's gone. Even expecting her to die, I was completely taken aback and I'm not sure whose "death" hit me harder ... Izzie because I adored her or George because that came out of nowhere.

  14. jmlz Says:

Oh god !Oh god ! this season finale really made me cry out from the bottom of my heart...i just wish i had seen this episode at home and not in my office at my lunchbreak...i live in sothamerica-peru-and we have this series in cable tv, but with one season delay, so i have to download ut on the web...i literally wait at my computer when a new episode is shown, until its online, and download it desperately, then i take it to watch it at my lunchbreak at work...but this time i came back to my cubicle completely heartbroken, sad, desperate and red-eyed 'cause of su much crying...( everyone thought i had a personal problem, or else...) wow! i dont know..what a finale! please let time go forward to september!! i cant wait to see season6...

  15. mmmmMcSteamy Says:

Shonda did a great job!!!! Very unexpected and great cliffhangers.
    I want more!!!!

  16. greysfan Says:

OMG OMG OMG OMG.. THE BEST SEASON FANALE EVER.. HONESTLY I CANT WAIT TILL SEPTEMBER!!!.. WOW AMAZING.. WORDS CANT DESCRIBE HOW I FEEL RIGHT NOW.. THAT WAS THE BEST.. THE MEREDETH AND GEOGRE PART WAS SOO UNEXPECTED :o:o .. A WORK OF ART SHONDA YOUR AMAZING.

  17. Sabrina Says:

well,i'm really exciting about what happens with izzie and george.
i like this show because you never know what is going to happen.
i really want that izzie and george will survive they are really great characters both but izzie is my favourite.
i am sure that te next season will be a great season the 6 whatever happens but i really want them to live.

  18. Guestie Guest Says:

Been a fan since episode one but I do feel they've become predictable. I knew the second "John Doe" opened his eye in the ER + the music swelled that it was George. And, if I, a humble financial analyst figured it out, that's pretty bad.

  19. Belgian Grey Says:

This was supposed to be a discussion about Shonda's interview and everyone went back to discuss the finale!!!!

  20. Kayla Says:

First off, grey's is the best show ever and I don't think I've ever been so heartbroken watching tv. Everyone involved in this show does such a great job at character development, it's hard for me to believe that these actors are not actually their characters. With that even with such a cliffhanger I have confidence that the show will triumph no matter who comes and goes. And I respect Shonda for not actually answering those questions. Embrace the element of surprise and if you want to read about season 6, you might as well pick up a book because watching it is so much better. But seriously when George spelled 007 on Meridiths hand I LOST it!! Amazing finale that I didn't see coming great job and can't wait until September.

  21. Beth Says:

As soon as they brought the bus victim in, and I saw his eyes, I knew it was George. I was yelling at the TV, "It's George!!" I really like what they've done with George's character. I felt like he was going to end up the best surgeon, out of all the residents. Remember, he failed his exam because he was watching Meredith just sit there in a daze and ignore her exam. If he hadn't been so concerned about her, he would have passed. I loved how Owen recognized that he would make a great trama surgeon because George is so good under pressure. Remember, he preformed heart surgery in an elevator. I'm glad that the absence of a George story line was intentional. I always hoped that he would have a big role at the end of the season, possible involving Issy. I hope George lives, but I had the feeling that in the elevator, Issy would see George, but then the elevator doors would close. George will die, but Issy will live.

  22. vstewart Says:

    LOVED the finale. Loved 007.

I do have to speak back a little to Susan (who's on the 2nd page) of comments saying that Callie's relationship is "unrealistic" because there are five couples on the show and therefore, percentage-wise, there shouldn't be a lesbian relationship. Actually when you look at the show as a whole and count up ALL the relationships, (George/ Callie, Mer/Der, Tucker/Bailey, Izzie/Alex, Christina/Burke, Sloan/Lexie, Mer/ George, George/Izzie, Chief/Adele, Alex/Olivia, Alex/Eva, Christina/Owen, Addison/Derek, Addison/Alex, Addison/Sloan, Mer/the Vet, I could go on....) you will see that in fact, the percentage of straight to gay relationships is actually, I dunno, about 4%.

I'm loving the Callie/Arizona relationship but I really loved Brooke Smith's character- I'm sad that was cut short. (I'm also sad the George/Izzie relationship was cut short too.)

Loved the post-it notes- I always felt like the Mer/Der marriage should be more unique than a church wedding, glad to see they found a way.

  23. winsor Says:

I love those two characters too. Maybe the show will keep Izzie but replace George with somebody else, now that his face was ruined, they have an excuse to change an actor.

  24. mkld44eva Says:

    Wow! What to say...

First off, kudos to the sound editors for selecting the music. Greg Laswell is a continued favorite of this show, and this song "Off I Go" was so perfect it was downright scary...

I'm a big person for metaphors and such. I also tend to rally to Shonda's defense as an amazing woman of color who has made it in the tv industry! This within itself is amazing, but also it's just hella hard to have a good show running this long with this many actors, storylines, and real life stuff that gets in the way. So this show is definitely a collaboration of great minds (medical and entertainment).

I think the ending couldn't have gone any other way considering the intensity of George's and Izzie's relationship on the show, but even more the relationship of Heigl and Knight. They are best friends off the show, and if this is any relation to what they might be going through in real life. Then damn! Haha. I think either way this show will continue to be great, and I think that whether one of them leaves or both, that is just the business first of all (unfortunately) but two, they have helped to create a show that no one will forget. Everyone put a lot of pressure on Shonda and the other producers/writers to make sure George's storyline if ended goes out with a bang. And I think Shonda delivered!

    Just my two cents

  25. Andie Says:

I found the finale so predictable. It was so obvious that John Doe was George.....why else would they keep going on and on and giving a "John Doe" situation so much air time. Not to mention that George was not in the whole episode. DUH.

I think Ms Shonda is losing her touch. The show used to be good and so full of surprises. This finale was about as cheesy and predictable as a "romantic comedy" movie movie or something.
