Derek and Meredith's decision to postpone their dream wedding ceremony and instead give it to their ailing friend who planned it, Izzie Stevens, was selfless and wonderful.
But as emotional and poignant as the conclusion of "What a Difference a Day Makes" was, it does beg the follow-up question: Will MerDer still tie the knot, and when?
According to their wedding website on The Knot (check it out if you haven't before), it's all good - the big day has simply been moved back a week to Thursday, May 14!
A screen cap of the site showing the revised wedding date (and a cute picture of the couple!) appears below. So cross your fingers for MerDer season finale nuptials!

I don't think so there is that cliffhanger Shonda is talking about and she loves to be crual with the fans. Did she ever adapt a script to please us? Can't remember but I forget easily.

Shonda also said that in the season finale that MerDer fans are gonna be really happy, and she said that she MEANT it. I hope she really means it, because I was not happy at all during the 100th episode with the limited merder scenes. Happy for izzie to her dream wedding and all but overall was pissed, so whatever shonda has up her sleeves it better be good.

Justin Chambers was on the View Wednesday and he said that there was only going to be one wedding this season. He kept saying that it was MerDer wedding day. Not actually wedding. That's how I knew for sure it was Alex and Izzie who got married. So one wedding this season leaves MerDer out.

that cliffhanger is probably about izzie; especially since the whole friggin season has been. i doubt. they write her off it would hurt the show. i think its possible mer and der will just get a marriage license she only did the wedding for izzie anyway.

Justin Chambers was on the View Wednesday and he said that there was only going to be one wedding this season.
He didn't say that. Elizabeth asked him if Meredith and Derek would be the ONLY wedding this season and he answered that he didn't know with a sly grin. Everyone started laughing (cuz of course he knows) and he said his hands were tied meaning he couldn't give anything away.
So I definitely think MerDer are getting married in Thursday's episode. Justin just couldn't say that Alex and Izzie were getting married too this season but now we all know. ;)

You just know there will be a clifhanger that will make us really mad I bet It will be something like: Izzie will pass out and her pulse reader thing ( I don't know what it's called :P) will `start to go and then the "Grey's Anatomy" logo will go up, then I'll freak out and start screaming :/

I don't know if anyone remembers but in the first episode, Izzie has some sort of flashback or dejavu where she is in her prom dress again and comes out of the elevator and tells denny, "See, I told you I would let u see my dress and he responds with, "you look better than a bride" then they walk through the hallway into the light. I see this coming into play for the cliffhanger with izzie, I think she gets that surgery, but won't wake up she'll have to make a choice leave with denny in her prom/wedding dress or wakeup to be with alex her husband. Then it comes to full circle. What do you guys think.

The cliffhanger is going to involve Izzie or George. I think that MerDer is finally getting a break this season finale (hell, first the wife, then the vet and prom sex, later it's so over and finally candle field)and will get their happy ending despite everything going on. I think that the recent events are going to make Mer want to marry right away.
The only possibility that I see for a cliffhanger for MerDer is either Mer finds out she's pregnant or Derek really is in that accident after all. (PLEASE, let it be the first one).

omg... the first episode of this season where Derek is in an accident. I hope not!!! they deserve a happy ending. Mer has to have her happy endings.

Come on, even if he has an accident, we know he won't die. And we know Izzie won't die, maybe she will loose her memory, but it won't be forever.
But seriously, this series needs less drama and more humor, like it was at the beginning. The creator, writers and/or abc seem to think people will only watch it if they leave a cliffhanger, something that will keep people curious. I think what would make people want to see more is if it leaves them with a good feeling, if they enjoy watching it, if it makes us have a good time.
