Grey's Anatomy Quotes: "Here's to the Future," "Now or Never"

Thursday night's two part season finale of Grey's Anatomy contained a bevy of memorable lines - so many that it took our official quote expert this long to compile them all.

Below are some of the highlights from "Here's to the Future" and "Now or Never," the two episodes that comprised the dramatic fifth season conclusion. Follow the link for the full list of Grey's Anatomy quotes from these and all 102 episodes of the show!

Izz? Izz!

Cristina: Alex. She signed a DNR.
Alex: Shut up Yang!
Cristina: She knew this might happen, that's why she signed it.
Alex: I don't give a crap what she signed.
Cristina: Alex, it's not what she wants.
Alex: (Izzie flatlines) Get a crash cart! (he starts CPR)
Bailey: Karev, if she doesn't...
Alex: Look at her, get a crash cart!
Richard: Screw the DNR. Hand me those paddles.
Bailey: Yang, take over compressions to her back.
Cristina: I got it, I got it.
Richard: 1, 2, 3. Hand down. Ok. Hand down. Charge to 300. | permalink
Owen: We have you O'Malley. You hear me. We have you. We'll fix this. Just stay with us!
Derek: O'Malley. It's Shepherd. You're not going anywhere, you understand me!
Meredith: BP's dropping.
Derek: Alright, lets put him out now! | permalink
Derek: I wanna be with you forever, and you wanna be with me forever. In order to do that we need to make vows. A commitment. A contract. Give me a piece of paper.
Meredith: I don't! I...  I... I don't. I have Post-Its!
Derek: Okay. What do we wanna promise each other?
Meredith: That you'll love me... even when you hate me.
Derek: To love each other, even when we hate each other. (writes it down) No running. Ever! Nobody walks out. No matter what happens.
Meredith: No running.
Derek: (writes it down) What else?
Meredith: That we'll take care of each other, even when we're old, and smelly, and senile. And... if I get Alzheimer's and forget you...
Derek: I will remind you who I am, every day. To take care when old, senile, and smelly. This is forever. (signs it) Sign.
Meredith: This is our wedding. A Post-It? (smiles)
Derek: Mmm. If you sign it.
Meredith: (signs it) Now what?
Derek: Now I kiss the bride. (They kiss)
Meredith: Married.
Derek: Married. | permalink
Lexie: The only reason you're even talking about a house is to make me feel bad. You're trying to prove that you're moving on without me. So then I'll regret my decision and change my mind.
Mark: Okay, is this what women are doing when they say they're moving on?
Lexie: Yeah. They don't usually take out a home loan to do it. But...
Mark: Pathetic. Let me be clear, I'm moving on. I'm a better woman than you! | permalink
Arizona: You asked me who I was. I am a person who thinks that what George is doing is dangerous, and terrifying, and brave. He's going to serve his country. He's going to risk his life to save the men and women who make it possible for you and I to sleep safely in our beds. I'm a person who thinks that, that is brave. And I am a person who stood in an airplane hanger, and watched them unload my brother's body in a coffin. And, all we got was a flag. My brother died over there because there weren't enough doctors Callie. So, for my money, George O'Malley is a patriot. He's a hero, and I am grateful that he exists. So yeah, the word I use is awesome. That's who I am.
Callie: (grabs her hand) I'm sorry. | permalink
Owen: I could use your support.
Cristina: You don't have it. | permalink
George: You know what to do.
Izzie: No, I don't. I don't.
George: Yes, you do. You're just scared to do it. This back and forth is just fear. You've already made the decision. You made it. You made it the second you decided to fight this thing. Just look, look where you started. Look where you are now. I mean, now you're this incredible surgeon, and teacher. You're a doer, remember? You know exactly what you have to do. | permalink

You can't see in photo with quotes, but when I was watching scene of Izzie in Alex's arms, she has a butterfly on her head scarf. Butterflies tend to symbolize coming back to life. I don't think the scarf is coincidental??

Well, I think they should both survive. It's too depressing to just have George killed off.

And wasn't he unbelievably HOT in that uniform? WOOOOW!

I say Izzie survives because at the end she kinda blinked, it would be a complete tragedy if she dies.

  6. Lynne Says:

I think George will get on the elevator and they will both go back. The staff at SGH seem to love elevators (and the on call room) so its only fitting that they come back thru the elevator.

This had nothing to do with who gets killed... but why do you have to enter a password when if you want to go to merder's wedding site? :S
and I think that Izzie will survive, george might die.. but I really hope he doesn't!! but it would be even worse if they would let another actor play georges role!!!
