I just re-watched the ending and George didn't exactly die, Owen says "we're losing him" but that doesn't mean he is dead yet. If they could keep Meredith alive like they did after she drowned then anything is possible and I REFUSE to believe that George dies. Just think what great storylines this would lead to for him to have a very long recovery from all these injuries. It could take all of season 6 so THAT is what I'm going to believe!!!
Also, I LOVED when Christina hugged Meredith. How they have both grown since the beginning!!

When Izzie got into the elevator wasn't she wearing the prom dress she had on when Denny died? I think she expected to see Denny meeting her when the elevator doors opened. When she saw George she was taken aback. I think she is going to go back down and live. Will she have quality of life? She did sign the DNR.
I'm a bit confused about which one may die... The last scenes show George in surgery and outside the elevator, Izzie is the one coding and inside the elevator. Maybe George isn't the one who's death, maybe it's Izzie...
Staying inside the elevator means to cross, to go, to give up. Leaving the elevator maybe means to live and stay with the people she cares and that love her, means to fight, to be a do-er (as George said to her in the episode).
It's ambiguous and can have boths meanings, imo! And that's quite remarkable! The writters did a awsome job with this! Well done Shonda and co :)
And I wished it was September already. We still have all Summer ahead before finding out what's going to happen to them (I hope both live)... arrrrrrrr

How can they expect me to be able to wait 4 months after watching a finale like this? Well, I'm not :( But I'm optimistic, I think both will live. Cause they can't just kill off people who has been there since the biginning, just like that...they wouldn't do that to us...right? :( But if I'm wrong, and they die... well, the show would just not be the same anymore. Not if the whole Fab 5 isn't there.
I have just finished to watch the show here in Spain and I am so sad. I can´t stop crying.
George and Izzie are my favourite characters and I am sure they are going to kill one, or the two of them. I have learnt that when there is a rumor related with the show most of the times is true. I don´t wanna that happens but I remember in the past when They tortured us with the Merder storyline, If currently they´re happy toquether is almost a miracle!!! If they are happy , someone has to have issues, big problems or ruin his/her life ....or die????
and obviously one of our favourite characters.
Sorry , I really hope it is going to be a joke like the pick when Dereck had the fake accident or something like that.
Sorry for my comments i´m just disapointed and as more of you VERY SAD

And then when i saw izzie in that beautiful dress...the tears started pouring. I still thought at this point that Denny was gonna be waiting on her at the top of the elevator and then when those doors opened & it was George, i lost it! Izzie looked sooo beautiful and George(OMG) looked sooo handsome!!! Did anyone notice that Izzie's eyes flickered a little before they showed her gettin on the elevator??? I really do not want either of them to leave the show!! But if i had to guess, i think George will be the one to go....i hope not though!!!
why does one have to go and one have to stay.. they can both go or they can both stay, i dont know why everyone thinks one will live but one will die, only shonda knows for now, until she HAS to make the decision to resign their contracts.

At the end when George wrote 007 the tears started to flow non-stop and and the ugly cry kicked in when I saw George and Izzy face to face. I can't wait till next season. Until then we'll wait and see what happens cuz the way Shonda runs things i bet there will be no leaks which makes it all the more better for those of us who enjoy the element of suprise which is guaranteed with this show.

For some reason I saw straight through that makeup and know it was George the first time they gave us a good look at John Doe's face.
Still, it drove me nuts that none of the other doctors could figure it out. I think it was just as upsetting, since I knew that every time he was trying to write something to Mer, he was trying to tell her it was him. So sad.
This finale was classic grey's in the way that everything crazy happened in the last few moments of the episode.

Izzie was back in the ball gown she had on when Denny died, and there was George in his dress uniform and a haircut that he had not had a chance to get. The writers have it set up to kill either, neither, or both.
I knew John Doe had to be important because they kept coming back to that case, but I never considered George becasue I thought he was in surgery. I did not see that one coming at all. I was in shock.
So is George there to escort Izzie to the other side, and give her away to Denny, just like he helped her down the isle to Alex on their wedding day, then George comes back?
The way the script was written, they have left it open for the George character to live, but be played by another actor. After all, the doctors will have to rebuild his face so another actor could easily play George if they want to keep the character.
I really like both characters. I would like to see what they do with the relationship between Alex and Izzie. With George, I am not sure how they can keep him as a major character, with a new face, since he has a busted up arm (there goes surgery). (They could make him a minor character: he goes into psychiatry and marries Torres again.) Torres seems unsure that she is gay, and she still seems to have a thing for George.

This was the worst season finale of Grey's, along with a horrible 100th episode. That was 40 minutes of bodies being zipped up in a body bag of characters that we didn't even know. Twenty minutes of a wedding for two people that a whole church of people thought they were going to a wedding for another couple. Really realistic. Then the finale, again dead Denny. We've seen more of dead Denny this season than poor George. The whole season has been about Izzy or Izzy and Denny. I knew John Doe was George within a minute. Then the sham of a wedding 100th episode for two characters that the fans really love and two actors that the fans really love. After five seasons, we get a post it wedding. I defended the marketing for charities initially for their wedding, thought it was a great way to use the fan base to donate to great charities. What a sham. I'll still donate, but not through the website. There were moments of great writing here and there but marginal at best as a whole. I'll miss George if he leaves but I understand if he goes. And if KH wants to go and do movies, let her. Shonda may not understand where the fan base but I bet the Exec's will soon figure it out.

Oh my God...I don't know what to think?!? Are they both dead or does only one live? I hope it's Izzie who survives. Sorry. I like George but if I had to choose between Izzie & George?? George should be the one to die, but deep down I think Shonda killed off Izzie. George can be fixed but Izzie will always have cancer. It's easier to let George live and Izzie die.
I don't think George is coming back but I think the writers did a great job setting the farewell of George. Remember how that girl describe John Doe (who we later found out is George). George is that ordinary guy we probably don't pay too much attention to but he is selfless. The 007 reference is just brilliantly smart and pay tribute to all loyal fans of the show. I salute the writers for doing this. George done a great job as John Doe. He spoke no word but the moment he grabbed Meredith's hand when she realized that who he was just broke my heart. He's the George that smiles on you even when he's in pain. He's there to be your friend. Goodbye George. SGH will never be the same without you and you shall not be forgotten.
Last night's episodes were so thought-provoking. What I found most powerful was how much each of the characters has matured and evolved, which was palpable during the season, but was brought out most clearly in these episodes. For all of us who have been fans since Season 1, last night was particularly meaningful.
Some of my favorite moments were when Callie expressed her feelings to Arizona about "good, kind George" joining the army- Callie has such a strong core, and her character has become so much better rounded and more resilient this season, and that really came through in that moment; George reaching out for Meredith's hand; Izzie asking George whether she should get the surgery (I adore their friendship), and Cristina telling Owen she loved him (hilarious).
Alex shouting at Izzie was painful to watch; he's so deeply troubled by everything that's happening to her, and yet somehow the fact that that is the only thing she's able to remember seems harsh. Watching George and Izzie suffer, and Bailey telling the chief she is going to be a single mother, was heart-breaking, too. I think Izzie may live, while George may die-that seems to have been what the elevator scene symbolized, Izzie on the threshold of death, but hanging on to life, and George, on the other side, dying.

I also somehow just sensed that the bus accident victim was George. When the woman he saved said that she saw him standing on the curb across from her, and she was so busy scanning the scene around her for more attractive men, and overlooking the really kind one who saved her life, I knew for sure that it was George. It seemed telling that she said that to Meredith, who after all practically didn't see George when he was in love with her.
