  1. sun-eyed girl Says:

    Yaaaaaawn.
    Yawn again.
They should've kept this information instead of leaking it in early season 5.
Now I'm not even surprised anymore. I just think Shonda needs a little respect for TR. He plays George, the glue to the show. What's the deal with her?

  2. lovesgreys Says:

The show wouldn't be the same without George. They would lose many viewers. It really just wouldnt be the same. And what makes him any different from the other main characters, the original five interns? Would anyone consider getting rid of Meredith, Cristina or Izzie? Would the show be the same without them? No. Same for George. Don't kick him off.

  3. Jordan Says:

George needs to stay. As a guy who watches Grey's Anatomy George was the one I identified with more. He was the more realistic one, the one who wasn't Mr.Perfect or a manwhore(well, toward the end he kind of was.) I just hope they keep him on the show and give him more screen time.

  4. Andie Says:

I agree with Calzona_fan as well.
Also, I find it amusing that people say they will stop watching if George leaves. You know you'll keep watching ;).

  5. MerDer4ever561 Says:

Personally, I think George should stay. He's one of the original 5 and the only reason he's going down is because the writers seem to bear some kind of grudge against giving him a decent storyline. Yeah, yeah, everyone's got their opinion about him and that's fine. Except there also people who like George and want him to stay. I 've been rewatching seasons 2 and 3 and thinking back to the good old days when everyone seemt to have just enough balanced screentime.

  6. TDS Says:

I agree. I'm not a huge Mer/Der fan, so the relationship between the Fab 5 is the main reason that I watch. George was there from the beginning and I think that all of the Fab 5 play an important role on the show. If you take one away, it just won't be the same.

  7. Calzona_fan Says:

The thing is that while the character of George has a lot of fans and TR has a lot of support... Why aren't we hearing from him that he want's to stay? Katherine Heigel has come out and said she will stay if they let her. TR Knight has pretty much stayed quiet. If he wanted to stay maybe he would be out there thanking his fans for supporting him, trying to push for more story lines, whatever.

While people are threatening to boycott the show if he leaves, they are taking it as its Shonda's fault. In all honesty he has had few parts, but he is just that a part. The show is still Grey's Anatomy. Countless times we see people on here that gave up watching because something happened, only to find themselves scrabbling to catch up as something new happens and they want to watch again. But all in the interim they were on the forums complaining and spoiling it for the people who do stay dedicated to the whole show.

Just wait and see what happens. No one is going to enjoy themselves watching if they are giving themselves ulcers over a character.

  8. PearlSmith Says:

I don't necessarily think Grey's ratings will go down dramatically if George leaves, but it will be a huge disappointment if one of the central characters is ripped away from the show.
If George does enlist in the Army though I think it would be better for him to be killed off because I think a return of George would be too horrific, he would no longer be the George all the viewers fell in love with, but would be someone darker, scarred by images of war, like Owen is.

  9. iheartmer/der Says:

i wish he would grow his hair out again!! i liked it better b4 he cut it!!!!!

  10. McCynic Says:

Come on - you can't label everything homophobic. And I am 100 percent against homophobia, but this does not evidence it's presence at all. After all, they FIRED Washington. The IW slur was so long ago (season 3?) and he had a LOT going on in Season 4.

Grey's addiction - you're right - we know nothing. But I don't think we can blame Shonda Rhimes anymore than we can T.R. Knight precisely because we do not know anything. Characters lose storyline time...and all this gossip and speculation abounds, and the media loves to play it up because people follow, etc. And then it festers like a germ in a petrie dish at optimal temperatures. Enough and just watch and let it go. If he's really unhappy, better for him that he leaves and moves forward. If he's happy and we're all being duped, we're (well, I'm not) wasting a lot of energy. I just don't care. I'm not a huge George fan, I admit it. But it's getting downright annoying!

  11. greysaddiction Says:

    Quite interesting...
McCynic says: "I just don't care. I'm not a huge George fan, I admit it." If you don't care, why not just skip over the George articles then?

    hmmmm.....

    ;-)

Well, I love George. I love TR. I think he'd be phenomenal in ANY role.

But I'm not ready for George to go. There's so much more for George to do.

oooohh, yes, iheartmer/der-- I loved his hair long too! :) And short, and half-way b/t and.... :)

  12. Samurai1974 Says:

I can just see it now:

(Chief Webber to the staff a-la M*A*S*H) "I have a message: Dr. George O'Malley's plane was shot down over the Sea of Japan. It spun in. There were no survivors."

Pfffft. How lame. Think of a better way to kill him off.

  13. drcookchick Says:

    Andie:

I know I _won't_ keep watching. All season I've seen episodes that have made me cringe. He's not there. The show hasn't recaptured its "magic" for me, and without George I will not keep watching. I've met quite a few people that agree.

Why is everything in italics now?

  14. Rebekah Says:

This is an ensemble cast. George had lots of storylines in the past with his Dad being sick, marrying Callie, having an affair with Izzie. Geez, give the other actors a chance and quit complaining. I'd like to see more of Karev, Izzie, Mer and Cristina and Dr. Bailey.

  15. McCynic Says:

greysaddiction - once again - you're absolutely right! I shouldn't be here. I think I just have this insatiable need to avoid the paper I'm working on. I should leave this for those of you who want to lament - it's more than fair!

  16. Sabrina Says:

We have had plenty of Izzie. This show is Izzie's anatomy as it is.

Alex is a big bore and there is way too much of the jerk as it is.

I KNOW I won't be watching if George leaves. I have barely been watching this season because there has been so little of him.

I do love how the people who pretend not to care about George are writing over and over again.

Where do all those haters come from anyway? A lot of you I have never seen here before.

George is the heart and soul of the show for many of us, and Gizzie has a whole lot of fans.

He is the only reason I still watch. He leaves, I do too.

  17. Belle Says:

All the other characters have had plenty of stories too. Mer, izzie and Cristina had more stories than anyone. Alex has had plenty of story with his abusive dad, his romance with Izzie, his affair with Ava, him rocking all the surgeries.

George is the one who has had nothing to do for two years now. Of all the fab 5 mmembers, he had less screen time than everyone else.

He had stories in season 3 and that is all.

It is time for him to get a chance to shine, to find true love and to have his own story.

He hasn't had one in forever.

The other characters has had more than their chance to shine.

I don't care whatsoever for any of the other characters.

George is the one that makes me care about Izzie and Lexie. The other characters I don't like.

So yes, I will absolutely stop watching this show if he leaves.

I swear that on any pack of bibles I can find.

George is the glue. George is the best guy in the world.

BTW, George failed his exam by one measly point and he did because he was worried about Meredith.

Meredith didn't even answer one question but got another shot thanks to George.

Alex failed his bedside manner and froze like an idiot in the elevator. George was a rock star in that elevator and he helped Alex pass his exam.

I am sick and tired of hearing George is a loser.

George has always always come through for everyone of his friends and his patients in the end, which is more than anyone else can say.

This show loses George and the ratings are going to go down and really fast because most people I know watch for him anyway.

  18. Telania Says:

George is more than just a character to me. He is the entire soul of the show. This season's show lacked humanity most of the time, but the minute he shows up on screen, that humanity is there.

He makes this show have a soul. It might be called Grey's anaotmy, but to me George is what makes Grey must-see TV.

He is the character the majority of the fans see themselves in.

He is the character most of us want to have the happy ending.

TR is only unhappy because Shonda refuses to write for him, so yes, you are damn right I blame Shonda.

Most people I talked to blame her.

  19. Nikki Says:

Yes they do have to write George an amazing storyline, but even if they don't, keeping George could never be a bad decision.

Not keeping him would be the biggest mistake ever.

I wouldn't watch without him and neither would a lot of people. And no, I am not saying that.

I have lost most of my love for Grey and while I like some characters fine, George is the only one I LOVE enough to stick around to watch the show for.

I have a busy life, and having one hour back of my life would be good.

I stick around out of loyalty for TR and for the amazingness that is George.

I always love George. All my favorite scenes, even this season, involve George.

And Gizzie is my favorite couple and friendship of all time.

No George, no me. I mean it more than I ever meant anything, but hey Shonda can test me if she wants. Let's see if I don't leave or not.

  20. Ada Says:

Most of my friends quit when they ended Gizzie.

I almost did, but I stuck around for George. And for what? They acted like their wonderful love story was a mistake, reunited AI which I HATE, and scrapped their friendship. George was never even shown at all. The extras, the interns, the guest stars, they all got more airtime than him.

I don't think any character in the history of the show ever got treated as horribly or had less airtime.

So yes, dear Andie, George leaves and I am done with Grey.

Shonda obviously hates TR for whatever reason, maybe because she had to fire her best homophobe friend IW and she was just waiting for the people to forget about this so she could punish TR for it so nobody would scream homophobia.

She is the one who is treating him so bad he wants to leave.

I refuse to shut up and just let her push one of the best actor and most wonderful character off the show without saying a word.

The HUGE majority of fans adore George. We have begged all season for him to get a story, and this is what we get?

And you think I honestly want to watch a show that sabotaged my favorite couple, friendship and character? Why? Grey is nothing better than a sucky soap opera that can't even use his best characetr.

  21. Michelle Says:

George makes Grey magic. That is why this season has been so magicless.

I love George. Everyone i know loves George. I am beyond angry that Shonda continues to ignore what we want. TR wants to stay, all he is asking for is some RESPECT and a story like every other character is getting. Even the interns are getting stories.

I want Shonda to let go of her grudge against TR and let us have him back.

TR didn't say he wanted to stay because the journalists keep asking Katie, and not one of them is bothering to ask TR if he wants to stay or not.

  22. Marina Says:

    TR stays or I leave.

Seeing George always makes me happy. I missed him all season. He can't die.

If he dies, not only do I never see his beautiful face again, but he and Izzie will never share any scenes again. They make the show worthwhile for me.

  23. Gigi Says:

TR needs to stay. I will be so devastated if he leaves. I lost Gizzie, I can't lose my George too.

  24. Aubrey Says:

    I can't lose George.

    I LOVE George.

    My whole family loves George.

He leaves and we all do.

    Keep TR at all cost.

  25. Karen Says:

Our TR needs to stay. Shonda we love him. Please remember that!
