Plus she is just awesome with Bailey. Bailey really needs a friend, poor love, I think Arizona will do a wonderful job at it!
i have 4 major theories about this “gift”
1. meredith will forgive the cheif for anything he did that hurt her 2. she'll let him give her off to Derek-he won't be the best man because since derek and mark are friends, mark will be the best man 3. with like a one in a million chance, it'll be mcbaby 4. Ellis' diares
yayy! im so glad arizona's going to stay. she's probably one of my favorite characters right now, especially with her personality balancing out her medical side.

Holla for Arizona!! She is great with callie and bailey, and a great addition to the show.
It's definitely Ellis' diaries and I don't know if you remember but a couple of months ago Ausiello had a spoiler about a biracial actor being cast for the show. Ausiello thought that it could be Ellis and Richard's long lost child. Maybe Richard will learn that Ellis gave up their child after he left her and he'll try to track him or her down...

In my humble opinion: 1)Meredith's gift to the Chief is her mother's diaries, which will reveal that after he left her she had a baby, which she gave up for adoption; hence, Meredith's half sibling. 2) The wedding has been moved up because of Izzie's condition as Meredith stated. It will be Izzie and Alex, or Lexie and Sloan that get married next week.
Derek and Meredith will elope. 3)Just like Miranda Bailey, Meredith and Lexie's pregnancies will be worked into the script. 4) T.R. Knight will leave the show to test the waters in other areas and find himself not too successful, thus returning George full time to the cast. 5) Since Seattle-Grace is still without a Cardio Surgeon, Burke will return as a special guest, to test audience response, then permanently.

What if the diaries reveal a child... of Mer's mom and the chief. Perhaps a boy who was given up for adoption. Could the gift by a long lost son for the chief? And a new sibling for Mer and Lexie?

Food for thought: If you remember part two of the eipsode where Meredith drowned, the beginning scene opened with the team all but having given up on Meredith, the Chief yelled he
couldn't because "she's my......."
Fortunately there is probably a twist that none of us will
guess, but hopefully be pleasantly suprised.

2.meredith is preganant patrick dempsey said so in an interveiw that there was going to be a baby sometime in season 5.
3.What else would play a big role next season.hello!MCBABY!

ok... anybody saying that the Chief could possibly be Meredith's father are stupid!!! Just plain STUPID!!! In case you all never watched the earlier episodes, Meredith's father shows up at the hospital one day during Season Three and he is shown being very clumsy, and Izzie and Cristina both comment on how much Meredith is like him... plus the skin colour... duh!
and we all know that Meredith is giving Ellis's diaries to the Chief... we dont know if its this "gift" but its certainly going to make him very happy, and he deseves to have a little happiness and memory of Ellis.
and i am not sure, but i think that one of the characters will become pregnant (though its said so often...) Who will it be????

and Janelle Meuller... if the Chief and Ellis had a child, it would NOT be a sibling of Lexie's because Ellis was not her mother, and Meredith and Lexis share a father, not a mother... seriously!!!!

I knew it......Izzy and Alex. Merideth and Derek sacrificed their wedding.......in true family/friendship spirit. They just want a marriage and not a wedding anyway and will still get married; quietly. I think there will be a Grey's baby boom. Merideth, Lexie and Izzy will survive and put Alex's sperm donation to use. Now the the chief is reading the Ellis diaries, we can expect a few twists.
To merder4ever, Merideth was 5 when the Chief/Ellis affair ended so we can expect a suprise revelation about that. I still think the dairies will reveal a Chief/Ellis baby given up for adoption that he did not know about.

I STILL say that the chief could DEFINITELY be Mer's father.. in the episode where they are doing CPR when Mer drowns, the conversation during their recuscitation efforts has the Chief saying he will not give up... This is Ellis Greys little girl, this is MY.. then the conversation is broken in to by Burke saying something... review the video guys, I think this COULD be possible.
