TV Guide Canada refutes rumors spreading around the Internet that Patrick Dempsey was among the Grey's Anatomy cast members said to be looking to leave the show.
As if.
However, after his character, Dr. Derek Shepherd, had to deal with the loss of patient Jen [played by Jennifer Westfeldt], the final straw comes when the doctor known as McDreamy learns at a deposition that more of his patients have died than survived.
That sends the depressed surgeon over the edge, and Derek decides to quit Seattle Grace. While some subsequent headlines would have you believe Patrick Dempsey is leaving not just Seattle Grace, but the show itself, the actor just laughs it off.
“Derek goes off on a little bit of a soul-searching bender, and then comes out the other side with the help of his fellow surgeons,” reveals Dempsey. “My character does leave the hospital, but I’m not leaving the series. I’d be stupid to leave.”

ofc, he's not leaving. i don't get why anyone thought he was, the logline for the episode says that DEREK is leaving the HOSPITAL. not patrick leaving the show. derek can still be in the show without working at the hospital. get a pair of glasses if you can't read your lines straight.
and to you who believed in these rumor tabloids that are saying that PATRICK is leaving: Have you ever heard about being critical of sources?

I never once believe that PD was leaving GA. From the moment I read the episode description I knew that Derek was quitting the hospital for sake of the storyline not because PD was leaving. This the media lighting a fire were there is none.

So glad that Patrick is not leaving, the show would be over, no one would watch.
I have a question though, if this depositon states that more of Derek's patients have died, how would he be a world renown Neurosurgeon, I have no doubts about his surgical abilities.
Good to hear Derek will have a support system.

Gotta love Patrick Dempsey. He knows Greys is good. Good for him. A winning show.
I never thought he was going to leave. I read the spoiler for what it was-- Der is going to have a personal crisis and leave his job, thinking he's no good at it. I never once thought PD was going to leave Greys.
I am also confident that Derek will come back to SGH!

I never believed PD would leave the show. I'm looking forward to see his crisis, Derek depressed would be something! And to see how he will get trough it!
PJ about your question, from what I understood the deposition will state that more patients died in SGH. He was already a world renown neurosurgeon when he moved to Seattle, so he must had done pretty great things in NY. And don't forget the clinical trial, he created a new technique to save patiens. Only few surgeons in the world do that ;)

What an understatement, haha...
Not to mention that the show would be pointless to watch ;)
(And with his reputation as a neurosurgeon, he most likely operated on patients who had a very grim outlook to begin with... losing patients who no one else would/could operate on probably skews his numbers a bit)

leaving greys would be the dumbest thing he would do. he is not going to because it is the way he makes money when not doing any movies. his movies are good patrick brings in alot of ratings and fans for the show. without patrick ratings would go down and greys would be cancelled.
