My guess would be stage 3 metastatic melanoma that has spread to her brain and liver...maybe?

I think the poster named "guest" is almost right. I believe it's stage 4 malignant melanoma that has spread to her brain and lungs. Metastasis is characteristic of stage 4 cancer, and it would be redundant to say "metastatic" and "that has spread," and it's necessary to differentiate malignant melanoma from a benign lesion.
Just my medical two-cents!

I don't think that Izzie is going to die. I think tht Derek's gonna save her. However, I think that George might flip out because if everyone remembers his dad died from cancer that mastasized(sp)(spread) to his other vital organs.....He may be thinking of him, and think that izzie is going to die...and leave? I'm not sure, just a thought. I'm pretty sure Katherine Heigl isn't going anywhere, considering she accidently let it slip out of her mouth whil drinking to a fan that she would be back next season. I am SO excited for tonight

Stage 4 metastaic melanom that has spread to brain and lungs (or possibly bones)... I think Stage 4 is where it has spread to more than one place
