gotta say, i loved the crossed out part about us fans knowing for months...that was great. but it does suck that izzie has cancer. like for real, not just something we're all assuming. but i do love that alex won't run and he'll be there and all her friends will be there just like they were when denny died (the first time). AND! hopefully we'll see more of george, you know? since he is her best friend and all....everyone's looking forward to this moment, they'd better play it right!

yes it sounds like brain cancer, like carol says, considering everything. it may bring derek back to working at seattle grace if he's quitting next episode, to work on Izzie in the season finale??
Larissa, I agree (except the enduring Denny part-- I actually enjoyed Denny being back ;). KH could make this amazing. But this one is going to effect all those around her even more than S2 finale did. With the talents of everyone around as well, this is destined to be very powerful. I only hope and pray that any rumors of KH and TR leaving are just rumors and that in the end Izzie will come out of this OK and my George will be right there with her.
I think we'll see Alex go through the whole spectrum of reactions. I think one of them will be to shut down, or run the opposite direction. But I'm sure he'll turn right around. I hope for Izzie's sake he turns around quickly.
I'm so excited for this new epi-- 8 days away. Looking forward to everyone around Izzie finally waking up to her being there and all that is going on with her. I think she'll see how much everyone loves her. And I really hope Shonda lets George be there for Izzie. I hope she lets them be the best friends that they are.

He has had nothing to do all season and Alex hasn't had much to do outside of Izzie, and they are two of my favorites, so I would love to see them have to work together to help Izzie. I always thought that the Izzie/Alex/George dynamic was an interesting one and would have much rather seen that explored than Denny coming back or an Izzie illness. So maybe we'll still get to see some of it in the coming episodes.

Whatever happened to that interview Shonda gave out a few months ago about Izzie not dying and not leaving the show...cancer means low survival rates!!! I've been loyal to the show through all the silly stuff (Sadie, Hahn, and George's disappearance!), but now this is the last straw.

I am so glad to see there are George and Alex fans. It upsets me when both group of fans fight. Now I am a Gizzie fan and not an AI fan at all, but I do love Alex a lot. And I know a lot of AI fans love George too.

I love both. George is my favorite but Alex is close behind.

Thanks Vanna, greysaddiction and Kim, I hate all the arguing too. I am an A/I fan, but truthfully, I don't always like Izzie that much LOL! As far as characters go, I like Alex and George more than Izzie. But since Alex is my #1 favorite, I want him to be happy and Izzie seems to make him the happiest so I like them together. I know it doesn't make a lot of sense.
But I would love to see Alex start to freak out and have George help him or have Alex be the one to tell George or something like that. I guess I just don't want it to be all about Izzie. I want this crisis to shed light on the rest of the Fab 5 as well and to explore their relationships with each other not just with Izzie. I would love to see a really good, deep Mer/Alex conversation, for example, where they compare where they are in their lives. I'm very excited for the upcoming episodes, but I probably shouldn't get my hopes up too high.

I think the person Izzie tells first that she is sick (that person we don't expect) could be Derek. I think she could very well have some sort of brain cancer or melanoma that has matastized to her brain (I'm no doctor, these are two very basic diagnosis, but something along these lines) and she wants to know her best options before she tells everyone. She'd probably want to have a plan before she tells Alex, George and everyone so they don't panic and if it's neurological she might think Derek is the only one who can really help her.
I think theres been a little been of a disconnect between the IzzieAlexGeorgeDenny storylines and the MeredithChristinaDerekOwen storylines--It's like they could be in seperate hospitals (maybe this is intentional on Shonda's part). I think Izzie's illness will bring everyone together again. So Izzie reaching out to Derek is sort of like step one of bridging that gap.
BUT its all speculation so who knows.

I'm almost 100% certain we are going to find out it is another type of cancer that has metastasized to other places in Izzie's body-- one place being the brain (for example melanoma-- if melanoma metastasizes and spreads to the brain it's not brain cancer, it's metastatic melanoma found in the brain-- brain cancer originates from abnormal brain cells, metastatic melanoma, even if found in the brain has originated from abnormal skin cells which have traveled there and made their home their). I think this is another case of Shonda choosing her words wisely ;)
