Izzie’s (Katherine Heigl) condition is solved by the interns in the next Grey's Anatomy (the March 12 episode), according to Justin Chambers (Alex Karev).
“Izzie has cancer, so I’m there to support her,” he tells TV Guide.
There you go.
With all the trials and tribulations that have befallen Izzie Stevens lately - the return of the ghost of Denny Duquette, sex with the ghost of Denny Duquette, making crafts for her team of interns - this probably doesn’t come as a major surprise.
But to actually hear the word “cancer” from Justin Chambers, who plays her love interest, confirms what viewers probably knew for months sensed was coming.
The actor says that Alex and the rest of the Seattle Grace gang are going to have their hands full as they help their friend Izzie deal with her upcoming battle.
“I would expect Alex to shut down a little bit if something awful happens to Izzie, but these are opportunities to see his chivalrous side and his true love for her, so there should be some interesting stuff coming up,” says Chambers.

I just thought of something... What if Hannah came back? What if her and Izzie got to bond or something, and Izzie would get better because of Hannah?

I can't wait to see how everyone deal with Izzie's diagnosis. Meredith and Christina, especially. It should be interesting! UGH i can't wait!!!!!!!!!!

There was talk of her daughter coming back quite some time ago. I figured it got shelved in favor of different ideas. Not sure how it would play into this.
I'm looking forward/not looking forward to this. I've been waiting so long to hear what's wrong with Izzie (after enduring dead Denny) that I hope they play it right and it's not anticlimactic. Season 2 Finale still is one of the most powerful episodes of Grey's Anatomy and Katherine Heigl can have half the audience in tears instantly if this is done correctly.

I completely agree with you. I am so excited for this, but its bittersweet, because I REALLY don't want Katie, and T.R. to leave. I'm still wishin, hopin, prayin, it was all a publicity stunt!!!

Me too - I am nervous because I don't want Izzie to die or KH to leave, but Justin Chambers does angst and sadness so well that I kind of hope we see him cry again!
Alex hasn't gotten to play much of a role in Izzie's sickness yet or since Denny has been gone, so I hope that we get some good scenes between A/I and an ILY from Izzie!

Oooooh, that sounds soooo cute! I can't wait to see how Alex will stand by her side. Don't they dare make us wait another week for Izzie telling Alex+co... Larissa, I agree. Season 2 finale was amazing and I don't think they can reach that, but still... If it's done right, Katherine Heigl could have this sad, wonderful, moving, heartbreaking moment. Hopefully they don't butcher it.
