Jessica Capshaw Offered Grey's Anatomy Contract
Better get used to Callizona!
Grey's Anatomy has signed Sara Ramirez's latest guest-starring lesbian crush, Jessica Capshaw, to a contract, sources have confirmed to Entertainment Weekly.
The deal calls for the 32-year-old actress to appear in all remaining episodes of the current fifth season with an option to return as a series regular next fall.
The former Practice star joined Grey's Anatomy last month as Seattle Grace pediatrician Arizona Robbins. While she was initially signed to guest star in only three episodes, the possibility had existed that it could turn into something more permanent.
Capshaw's promotion should silence critics who sounded the anti-gay alarm after ABC kindly asked Grey's Anatomy executive producer Shonda Rhimes to banish Callie's first girlfriend, the brusque and ballsy Dr. Hahn (played by Brooke Smith), to the parking lot.
"The character was not working for us and the relationship was not working for us," ABC Entertainment President Steve McPherson acknowledged last month at press tour.
What do you think of this news? Despite forming one of the best couple names ever in Callizona, are the two clicking romantically? Do you like her?

Instead of jumping on board with signing new characters' contracts, why not focus and get everything settled with the two actors that have been there since the beginning to make sure they're happy first?
I think the original cast should come first and be put on a pedestal.

OK! I am tired of all the george and izzie lovers going nuts because they do not get air-time. I am not a fan of either characters and do not miss them as I watch every week. They are dull and boring. I love arizona and callie. They are cute.
Get off of the izzie and george wagon...ever since their affair in season 3 they have both bugged me so much. It is like the are 12...they don't seem to mesh with everyone else. You hardly ever see them with anyone besided each other. Which should telly ou something.
That is my opinion..take it or leave it!

We've seen more of Arizona in the last month than we have of George.. lol why sign on more people when they're not even focusing on the ones we want to see. They kick off Hahn.. and then later replace her with someone else? Umm okie. I like Arizona but I don't see her with Callie

I like George and Izzie, and I agree with dr cook chick. They should be making sure things are in the clear with the original cast members before signing someone else on board the already overpopulated main cast.
Anyone ever seen the show "Knight Rider"? Not the 70s one, but the new ones? They only have four main cast members, and since they killed off and wrote off a few other main people the show got better.
Before people say, "Kill off George!" or "Kill off Izzie!" or wirte them off, stop and think that maybe (just maybe) they are a vital part of the show. I've been watching since the middle of season one, and the show has definitely lost it for me. Last season post-writers strike was okay, but really... It sucks now. I watch for those two, and one (or both) of them leave, I'm definitely going to stop watching out of loyalty to them.

This is nuts. We don't know what the deal is with Knight and Heigl, though some like to think they do because of media reports designed to pot-stir to generate attention and sales. And I'm sorry, but it's not the show's job to bend over backwards to make them happy. If Heigl wants to leave, let her. Again, people, this is about the actors' lives, not about your need for a character on tv. If they don't want to be on the show, let them leave. It's a TV SHOW. Furthermore, Callie is a series regular, so why not appeal to her future - making for a contract for Capshaw. Anyway, I like her character, and welcome the shift. It gives a bit of adult balance to the show.

I think this is great news. I like Arizona a lot and she's been a good addition to the cast thus far. She's not all dark and twisty, which is rare these days for the show. Even Izzie is dark a lot lately, when she's not being hyper perky, but that's because she's probably dying! Anyhow I think this is a good move. It will open up a whole new area of medicine for the show since they haven't really done a ton of stuff with kids.

i think arizona and callie will go well together after everything that callie has been through maybe finally she will be happy.
P.S LOVE george dont let him leave for the army if current rumours are true plz!!! x

I agree with Kate, too. Economic crisis breeds 'light tv' tendencies. GA has already akcnowledged they need to do this. I think Arizona is a good addition to this. It'll still be a drama, but she's not all weighty (although I do love Meredith). It brings balance. And if Bailey goes to Pediatrics, they have a fun and interesting dynamic. So it adds more space for Bailey too, a character I quite enjoy. I think this is all around a great move. Think of Arizona as a cast "emulsifier".

I think they have found a good fit for Callie. Glad ABC/Shonda are sticking with a diversity theme. I'm tired of all of the "regulars/stars" of the show, it will be refreshing to watch a new couple.
