Is Grey's Anatomy giving Meredith another long-lost half-sibling - this one a byproduct of her mother's affair with the Chief?! In the opinion of EW's Michael Ausiello, probably.
Sources have not confirmed this on the record. However, Grey's Anatomy did put out a casting call for a mysterious new recurring role - and here's where it gets intriguing.
The show is looking for male actor who is biracial and in his mid-to-late-20s. The inference Ausiello makes: The Chief and Ellis Grey had a long-lost love child at some point.
According to Ausiello, this new character remains on the table in the show's future. However, Shonda Rhimes has reportedly tabled this until next season of Grey's Anatomy.
What do you think? Would you be excited to see a new half-sibling for Meredith? Or is one Little Grey enough for both her and Seattle Grace as a whole?

I don't know how you went straight from a request for "The show is looking for male actor who is both biracial and in his mid-to-late-20s." to it definitely being a love-child from Ellis Grey's affair with the chief?? Seems like a big jump there!!??
Maybe Ausiello is frustrated by not having any more dish on KH and TR leaving, with Shonda saying that they AREN'T and all--- now he's gotta stretch some casting calls to get the fans riled up. Hey, Mr. Ausiello? These fans are already riled up about Greys b/c we absolutely LOVE the show!!!

This would be ridiculous. Her mother wouldn't have had the baby and given it away! don't you think someone would have known she was pregnant?

I don't think it means that Mer has a half sibling. It could be a sick patient, a new doctor (God, please don't let it be another doctor...we've got enough on this show!), someone to help Izzie through her thing who she'll fall in love with (why not? She's fallen in love with Denny, George and Alex, so why not some new meat?), or maybe the Chief had a love child with someone else?
The list goes on. But I doubt Mer has another half sibling out there that she never knew about.

It'd be too much if they decide to put in another sister. It'll seem Grey's is desperate for a plot. Lexie is enough.

I think it's a big jump to say that.. but it's possible =|

this would be so stupid

It would make the show more like a bad soap opera. Let's hope it is just a replacement for George.

No, no replacement for George. George is not going anywhere!!! Shonda said so!!!!

If Meredith was small enough it's possible that she didn't notice her mother's pregnancy especially if Ellis never mentioned it. I barely remember my mom being pregnant with my brother and he was born with I was almost six. The things I remember most about her pregnancy is finding out that I was going to have a brother and then visiting them in the hospital the next day (he was born at night).
That being said, I don't think that Ellis would have another child especially since she didn't recall a baby when she was alive and reliving her residency. It makes sense that she would have mentioned another child since she kept telling Meredith that she (Meredith) reminded her of her daughter and didn't believe Meredith when she told her that's who she was because "Meredith is just a child."
Could Chief have another child from another woman? It's possible. Anything could happen. I wouldn't find it very believable since he left Ellis with the intention of staying with his wife.
There are two other options. One option is that it is just another doctor/patient/character for any amount of reasons.
The final option which has yet to be discussed is that it could be Bailey's younger brother. We don't know anything about Bailey's family other than she's married, has a son and her mother-in-law lives in Seattle.
Bailey's parents could be divorced/never married and either of her parents have another child with someone else. Even still it could be another relative of Bailey's.
