  1. merderdempeo Says:

he prefers mer without frontal lobe but alive!

  2. ILOVEELLENPOMPEO Says:

    what?!

  3. AJILuvyou Says:

omg i cant wait for this episode!!!!! I hope this isn't like the start of a downhill roller coaster!!!! Derek was going to propose and now he is caught up in his past. And Mer is scared she doesn't really know him. I looooove this show grey's is getting soooo good!!!!

  4. anuflas Says:

I'm not sure on whose side I am but dude, that was rough!

Derek is on the verge of losing it. This is a clear example of what happens once you get emotional involved with a patient. That plus this whole thing with Archer and the serial killer obviously got to him.

I don't think that the fact that Derek is in between lives is a factor here. He has managed to leave his personal life outside the OR. He is about to make another huge change in his life (proposing to Mer) and he's chipper about it. He had to face his former life and he wasn't so chipper about it but he pulled off the surgery.

Also, did you notice that Mer stayed put when Derek told her not to move? She's starting to be on his side more. Although it was disturbing to see her jump at Derek's yells.

PS. merderdempeo, true. I think Derek asked himself what he'd do in the same situation and would prefer to have Mer without frontal lobe but still alive.

  5. ILOVEELLENPOMPEO Says:

aww it was disturbing to see poor mer jump when he yelled shes never seen that scary side of derek before.

  6. atheart282 Says:

wow. this is gonna be amazing! how do they expect us to wait for 3 more days?!?!?!

I agree with Maddiexoxo, too. And I also think that he feels guilty still for the whole screwing up her first surgery thing. he thought she'd be ok, but now she's falling downhill and fast. and he wants to save her, and he knows how to save her. but it'll take away the woman that calls him by his first name. but at this point he doesn't care-if he can save her, fix his mistake, then it's ok. And it's sad that he's freaking out, second-guessing himself, but he reached out, even in all his ange, to Mer. I love them together, they're just perfect.

and merderdempeo and anuflas, you have a point, too. You could almost see it on his face: would I want Mer's child, or Mer, even if she woudln't recognize me or be the same woman, who would I want? Or maybe the baby didn't even cross his mind. Maybe it was a "Mer or no Mer" moment. Um, Mer?! So he takes out her frontal lobe.

Whatever happens, it's gonna be an amazing scene!!! can't wait!!!

  7. ILOVEELLENPOMPEO Says:

yea but taking that out would be soo inhumane and she wouldnt be the same mer.

  8. dimples61 Says:

He has acted a little weird ever since the serial killer was there. He hasn't been showing his kinder self. Hell if he keeps acting like and ass mer might not even except if he does ask her to marry him. Guessing here: But I figure what has happened between Mark and Derrick is that Lexie went to mer and told her about herself and Mark. And Mer told Der and he went off. I hope this don't cause Mark to lose his job. Although I'de not be upset to see the Mark and Lexie's relationship end. That was kinda yucky.

  9. *rachel Says:

personally i think this has something to do with his old life mixing with the new. he was ready to propose and now he can't. he has this patient who is so inlove, pregnant, and is about to die. him and meredith are in love and the way she dropped the comment about babies had him freaked out. now he is dealing with a dying women with a husband. its just like when meredith almost drowned he was willing to do anything to save her and he couldnt and he probabaly wants to stop jens husband from feeling the same thing he did.
and then the mark-derek-smackdown probably has to deal with the fact he just now started to really rekindle their friendship and mark is sleeping with someone else

  10. jusiak Says:

It is very interesting to see some parts where there is no all about Mer and there is a lot of about Derek's doubts, probles. I'm sure that this time Meredith will force Derek and make him stronger. I hope that she will understand that they can be a couple like Addison and Derek in the past.

  11. MerDerMadness Says:

Is it just me or is Derek's behaviour kind of scary!? His temper is his dark side which Addison seems to be good at bringing out - she builds him up to be a "God" and then pulls him right down to make him feel self doubt and worthless! No wonder Derek's mom thought Addison was not right for him, she knows how to manipulate his emotions when it suits her and now when she no longer needs him because her brother will be fine she discards him back into her little box!! I am so glad they are no longer together!
Mer wants Derek to be outstanding and believes in him that why he needs her to stay by his side and support him and hold him up even if he is making a huge mistake. On another note, I am not sure I would be very happy with Derek either if I was Mer - Derek did not even call her to tell her Addison was in town and that he was operating on her brother - she had to find out from the chief - that would not impress me if my boyfriend did that to me especially considering all the past issues with Addison. Derek seems to be so consimed by his own past and present issues that he's kind of being selfish to Mer. I hope Mer realises that he is going through a tough time and helps him through this dark time!

  12. Najade Says:

Why is Derek being so rude to Addison? I think Addie was very sweet to him, and she opened up to him, and he completely turned her down. I think Derek is being an ass to her. She doesn't deserve that, she deserves the best.
I think in the past, he was very sweet and caring, but now he's a jerk, an arrogant bastard!

  13. paula Says:

what`s up with Derek??? has he also a tumor?? he`s acting so angry and he used to be so sweet and understanding..

  14. JJ Says:

Until I see it all in context I don't feel right siding with either Addison or Derek. Trouble is, from what I know, removing the frontal and temporal lobes, wouldn't give that guy his wife back. She wouldn't be even remotely the same. So he would have a new baby, and a shadow to deal with. I know Derek said he could save them both doing the lobotomy, but he wouldn't really be saving them both. So right now I am edging towards Addisons side, at least the husband would have a healthy baby to love and receive love from. There is a slim chance that the wife would even know what love was after she had her brain sliced and diced.

  15. Ilove Burke Says:

Woah. Dang. I find it interesting that it's just going to be Addison, Derek, and Mer in the room.I'm interested to figure out whose side Mer will take. Derek's girlfriend will take Deriks, but the doctor in Mer obviously knows better

  16. Bran Says:

Maybe he's being so pissy to Addison because he finds out about the abortion before the surgery and he can't confront her in there?

  17. McSeriously Obsested Says:

    ooooohhh, jucy!

  18. jusiak Says:

It is so horrible, that when Derek yelled at Addison Meredith looked at him like she was afraid of him. That all situation about Meredith, Addison and Derek in the same room with all these emotions and issues from the past!It is awesome. I'm sure that Shonda knows that this twisted relation between these 3 people is something what we love in that show.

  19. anuflas Says:

I don't know. Addison totally has this behavior coming from him. She pushes him to be God to save her brother but not to save a patient close to him? Talk about conflict of interests. It still doesn't mean that this might be new to Meredith who always had known the McDreamy side of Derek. It's going to be interesting to see how she deals with it.

Second, I don't know if just having the baby would make things better. True, the removal or cutting or whatever of the frontal lobe is going to make drastic changes but the person is still there. Does this mean that all of her memories are removed? Just asking because I don't know.

Maybe it's being a little selfish trying to save your wife than the baby. The dad hasn't had time to bond with the baby yet while the other person is his significant other. I think it'll just wait and see the episode to see what the hell is going on.

  20. Diana Says:

ive been wondering all this time....
isnt it possible that the promos and the previews are drifting us to another direction like how all the other previews did?????
but i am gonna love the scene with derek addison and mer!!!! i love those 3 people!!!!! i hope addison stays for the rest of the season!!!!
i think derek was just going to a rough time and thats why he punched mark and why he wanted to save jen's live so badly..
although that does not give him permission to chop her brain...
    i just really cant wait!!!

  21. Elisabelle Says:

anuflas- the frontal lobe controls whether a person basically has a conscience or not. It is the part of the brain that can look at consequences of actions, determine right from wrong, determine appropriate social responses and correlate similarities and differences in things. So basically a person without a frontal lobe becomes a monster and for eg, they may not be able to see the difference between defending yourself and hurting someone for the sake of it.
When they used to perform frontal lobe lobotomies on psychiatric patients, they found that they had no emotion and they lost their personalities.
The temporal lobe contains the hippocampus which is used for memory formation. It is also related to the senses, especially the higher order sensoral functions like facial recognition and speech formation.

So basically by removing both the frontal and temporal lobes Jen wouldn't have her memories, her conscience, her personality, her full speech function and may never be able to relearn who people like her husband are. She would basically be a shell.

  22. jordan Says:

where are the spoilers for this weeeeeeeeeek!

  23. Paddisonluvr Says:

If Jen will no longer be Jen without her frontal lobe, then Addison is right. Keeping Jen alive without what makes her Jen (AND causing the baby to die) is not the right thing to do. Totally on Addie's side - Derek is just super upset because he feels like he created the mess to begin with. We've never seen Derek mess up this way before and he's not used to it.

Addison is right - I can see why Derek would want to save Jen but saving Jen without a personality - saving the "shell" to quote Elisabelle - is not Ok. Looks like an amazing 2 hour conclusion tomorrow . . .

  24. huma Says:

hmmmm....lov it!!!litreally lov it!!!...i think only thing der needed rite nw was sum1 to trust his abilities nd whn mer didn't evn move when he shouted...that gave him wht he wanted!!do u guys agree?

  25. ANBHCA Says:

I think the reason Derek is so adament about Jen's life is directly related to his conversation w/ Jen's husband... who told Derek if the decision had to be made b/w keeping the baby or Jen, to keep Jen alive. It's a very complicated situation. He is already mad at Addison... so she was the easiest target to release his anger. But, I agree. Keeping Jen alive would be harder on her loved ones than for her to pass away. At least their last memories of her would be good ones..
