    What the...?!

  2. Concerned... Says:

YAY!! I think this weeks episode is going to be great. It'll be interesting to see what the outcome of Derek and Bailey's conversation is going to be...

Slightly off this weeks ep (sort of), I think it'll be interesting to see Callie and Arizona and what happens with their relationship and how it all comes about. I know everyone LOVES Callie and Mark but I think they've gone beyond being anything but best friends. I want to see Callie happy again - to me it seems as though she still isn't coping without Erica.

Anyway, can't wait for Friday (have to download it)
    xx

i agree, fanoftheshow never makes any sense???

that said, it took them a while but finally they have this season where it should'v been when it started. the drama, the tension, the romance! i hope it ends up being worth the wait and that they don't let the good writing petre out to an anti-climax.

  5. greynatic Says:

Derek should save him and let him live...but then they should harvest his liver and what have you and keep him alive somehow until its time for his death penalty..then its a win win situation. (Can they keep him alive without his liver for a week?? Isn't his execution in a week?)

  6. Bryan Bennett Says:

Has Grey's Anatomy officially jumped the shark? Numbers within the TVLoop community suggest that as they're down sharply across the board. My guess is that recent plotlines like the whole Denny/Izzy affair are starting to take their toll. Thoughts?

  7. vstewart Says:

    1) Lethal injection often hurts a great deal (it's one of the reasons the death penalty gets revoked for months at a time - They haven't figured out how to make it humane and quick.)

    2) I do think someone has the right to kill himself or to allow himself to die (what are DNR orders for anyway?) But maybe Mer should've gotten him to sign a DNR before giving him the info to kill himself.

I'm on Bailey and Miranda's side.

  8. Stefan Says:

I think most of you missed the true ethical dilemma here and the show if definitely getting it wrong. The patient stated clearly he refused the surgery and Derek got Yang to sign an override. The “Do No Harm” clause of the Hippocratic oath is being abused by Derek. A patient has the right to choose what is done to them. Derek is taking away this patient’s rights and would be disbarred. Miranda should be attacking on the legal issue and reminding him of his oath. But again this season, the writers have lost sight of how smart and strong Mirada is and made her a crying wimp.

  10. lisa Says:

The serial killer may have a week if they fix him up but the boy does not. SK is his last chance to live. And the whole thing is all the more heartbreaking because Bailey will always second guess herself if the boy does. Arizona said he should have been listed long ago!

  11. Dango Says:

If Meredith made him sign a DNR form, it would be clear to everyone what part she had to play in his suicide attempt. She probably wouldn't want to announce that to the world, because of Derek, despite the fact it's bound to come out anyway.

So... Is the liver the only organ the boy needs? Because isn't the liver the only organ that can regenerate itself? (They've mentioned on Grey's before.)The serial killer's a full grown man, so surely they won't have to take all of his liver for the boy, and he should be able to live through it...

    Okay, here... from Wikipedia:

Living donor liver transplantation is a technique in which a portion of a living person's liver is removed and used to replace the entire liver of the recipient... Only 20% of an adult's liver (Couinaud segments 2 and 3) is needed to serve as a liver allograft for an infant or small child.

More recently, adult-to-adult liver transplantation has been done using the donor's right hepatic lobe which amounts to 60% of the liver. Due to the ability of the liver to regenerate, both the donor and recipient end up with normal liver function if all goes well...

Am I missing something? Is it not the liver the boy needs? Or have the writers overlooked something here...

  12. ILOVEELLENPOMPEO Says:

    he needs intestine to

  13. ILOVEELLENPOMPEO Says:

fan of the show what the f*** are u talking about??

  14. Dango Says:

Okay, thanks ILOVEELLENPOMPEO. I had thought that part of the operation had worked... I guess not. (I haven't seen the full episode myself yet.)

  15. laura Says:

this episode is going to be so good! the drama is going to be awesome! between mer and derek with the serial killer and bailey trying to save the little boy! by the looks of all the promos and the sneak peeks this looks like a great episode!

  16. Conufsed Says:

I don't understand why this is even an issue. The patient said he did not want any intervention to save his life. He was not hypoxic, nor did he have an altered mental status to affect his decision. Thus, by giving him this surgery is going against the patient's rights AND the oath. In other words, this surgery should have happened in the first place and the kid should have gotten the organs.

  17. greysaddiction Says:

I like to sit on the fence here. I can see both sides so well. This storyline is great-- this scene between Bailey and Der is great, although I'm wondering where Miranda the rock went???

Stefan-- you raised a VERY significant point. The two doc override comes into play when the docs deem the patient unable to make a clear, sound decision. Suicidal is a gray area here... especially on an otherwise healthy patient, but assume you calculate the fact that he is to executed in 5 days as equivalent to having major health issues.... what would a doc do in this situation given a cancer patient in pain who knows he has days - a week left and then end will be painful??? In such a case would the doc deem the patients refusal of surgery and other medical care as coming from a person unable to make clear, sound decisions?? Hmmmm.... and then there is the fact that we all have our own feelings about such an extreme criminal and the consequences that their actions bring with them.... ???
This is a very sticky one! I'll play it safe and sit on the fence for now... and wait for it all to unfold before me on Thursday!!

fanoftheshow-- I'm sorry, but your comments don't make too much sense. They are quite confusing-- maybe you could explain what you're trying to say a little better?

Here's to hoping to see a glimpse of George on Thursday!!!

  18. Gwennie Says:

Maybe, just maybe Dunn reinjured his brain so badly that Derek can't save him despite trying so hard. So if that's the case and Dunn rendered himself brain dead, won't everyone somewhat win? Derek gets to feel like he tried (but will still have serious issues that Dunn got away with it) and Bailey gets to use his organs (assuming they wouldn't still kill him on death row if he's brain dead). A little anti-climactic maybe but I think still good.

  19. McSeriously Obsested Says:

i think the dude is just gonna kill himself anyway!

  20. shannon Says:

OMG....what a is Derek to do? I don't thing Derek could live with himself if he agrees with Miranda and does nothing. Derek is too honorable for that so I believe that the patient will code or the damage will be unrepairable and he will become brain dead. Only then could I see a happy ending to this situation and the boy getting the organs. Plus, isn't Derek proposing to Meredith soon...I don't see him doing that after "killing" or "allowing" a patients death. Just my opinion
