Meredith is Meredith. She's broken. Derek knows that. Derek also knows that his mother approves of her because she's dark and broken. I think that now that he has his mother's approval, he is going to try to be more understanding of Meredith.
Meredith going to the execution was painful, but I think it was nice of her to be there for him. Yes, he is a horrible serial killer, but underneath that, he is still human. He can still be scared. Seeing a familiar face was good for him, although it was painful for Meredith.
I want the Izzy/Denny thing to go away. I love Izzy with Alex. And I'm confused. How is she sick? I don't want her to die!
Its pathetic what they are doing with George. At least write him out with some dignity if they don't have room for him. They keep introducing new characters, and its pushing him out. Not cool. Sadie, that pediatric surgeon lady, and Dr. Army guy are all taking up too much time on the show, and its not cool.

Meredith honoring her dying patient's last wish was right in character. 'Atta girl: Meredith never takes the easy way out. But she always, always, somehow shows us moral-compass-true-North.. (At least that's my feeling--)
Because of
1.) Bailey's 'crossing the line', Meredith's crossing the line was minimized..
And because of
2.) Derek's mother's approval of Meredith- predicated on Meredith's compassion for her death-row patient, on her ability to appreciate the GRAYS in life (uh.. pun accidental))..
the story-line supported Meredith all the way.
It's satisfying to see Cristina playing the loving, womanly, empathic role in a developing relationship with a man.
This doctor is hurt and vulnerable in ways that do not diminish Cristina's respect for him, either as a man or as a doctor. They are both worthy of mutual respect. And both profoundly complicated. It will be fun to see their intimacy deepen.
The rest was, as usual, fluffy fun :-)

There is so much they could do with George and they aren't. He should have a reaction to Callie being gay. He should know about Izzie seeing ghosts. Real Izzie would have told him.
He should be seen with his inters.
He should be interacting with patients and kids again, something he does amazingly well.
Why isn,t he?
And Gexie was so much better than Mexie.

awwww! i change my mind after seeing that! i tought Denny was so great! well no, Jefry Dean Morgan was really great! for me McCritic really hit it on the bat for me! couldn't put it any better!
At least T.R. can sleep at night - with so few lines to memorize who needs to practice. (Hang in there George!) Oh and give Chandra an Emmy right now even if I have to make one myself. Excellent performance last night!
I miss George. But, as a George fan, I am not offended by the roundtable fun-poking here. I don't think they're making fun of TR or George at all-- I think they are making fun of Shonda and the writers and ABC for not giving George any air time!
Mer going to William's execution? Not creepy to me. Right in line with Mer's character-- ultra compassionate.

I figure this episode was about the time TR got sick and tired of it, and demanded to be let out of his contract. Good for him for standing up for himself.
You have an amazingly talented person like TR, you give him some respect.
And then all the fans stood behind TR, well most of them, and that makes me proud too.
At least TR can know the fans love and respect him.

Hi all. The idea was definitely to poke fun at Shonda & Co. for the lack of George screen time. We do love his character and TR himself. I'm torn between creepy and compassionate. In a way, Meredith loves pain and emotional battles, so I did't think it was completely out of place to be there. I really did think that maybe Derek would go, just because he's so pro-punishment. Still, I loved that he was outside waiting...and that he was the first to comfort her after such a bad day. These two are really growing. So that last scene, when Mer broke down, has to go as one of my favorites.
The can kill Izzie off that I wouldn't notice. She annoys me. Whatever.
Mark/Lexie are trying to hard to be the new MerDer, even going to the fact that Lexie now broke Mark's penis. Didn't Mer do that already? Little Grey is not Big Grey, it's part of her charm, I guess. I love the new Big Grey so let's not turn Lexie into Mer, PLEASE.

What she has lost - - what she could have. She tries to protect Sadie and Christina in telling them not to do anything. She tries to take control for the first time - - not just as a person but as a Doctor.
Izzy and Denny - - Denny's as confused as Izzy is. She has some kind of illness that a "medical miracle" will cure, but it will be the whole gang getting togheter to solve it. Kind of liks a "House" thing. "
Chritina and Hunt are so great together. They are the "Ying" and the "Yang" (sorry about that). Having a husband who experienced much the same thing in Vietnam, the writers are all too "close" to the real thing when they write for him.
Oh how I love Miranda Bailey. So principaled, so on her game so vulernable, so full of fath (sorry some of my eys won't wor anymore).
As for George, everyone goes through their "arc". Think back to the other seasons. Sometimes there's more MerDer, Christina/Burke, Addy/Der, Addy/Mark, Alex/Rebecca, George/Callie, George/Izzy, George/Lexie, etc. Everybody gets their arc. They have been doing a lot of George with his Dad, his failed internship and marriage, I think they just want to expand other characters. Like finding out that Derek's father was killed over a watch, etc.
I am dark and twisty myself, always thinking the glass is half empty. I think it's great that writers think that other people look at things the same way, but they make it funny and entertaining.
Remember - - this is supposed to be entertainment.

I'm telling ya, IZZY IS DEAD, those were her organs that went into the little boy. She wasn't on screen at all after that...where else did they get organs so fast. Remember, Denny came FOR HER...he escorted her to the hereafter...she's dead!
Topperdog---- I think you are way off on that! We saw the guy whose organs they used and watched the Chief coerce his wife into giving them up. And, they seem to be so self-absorped and sometimes not take notice of Izzie, but if Izzie were truly dead Mer, George, Alex, Bailey--- they would all be DEVASTATED and crying their eyes out!
graysforever--- I really enjoyed reading your comments. I like your point of view. I myself have not commented much on the Cristina/Hunt story, or more specificially the Hunt story, b/c I am holding my breath and sitting back and hoping that the writers will do it justice. I have an enormous respect for US soldiers. My husband's family are military-- two brothers have served in the middle east. I was glad to read your point of view that they are hitting the nail on the head in their portrayal of Hunt and his struggles.
b-t-w-- a thank you to your husband for his service for our country in Vietnam. Our soldiers are our heroes. They defend our freedoms, so that we do not have to worry about or struggle to have freedom. They are heroes, even if, at times, they don't feel like heroes.
I like what you said about Denny being just as confused as Izzy. I think that's dead on. And I like your idea about them all coming together to work on the medical miracle for Izzy. That's how I envision it. I only hope that they are successful!
And Mer-- I totally agree with you on Mer-- it was an act of compassion. Mer just did not forsee how it would affect her.
"they seem to be so self-absorped"-- referring to everyone around Izzy who care about her-- Alex, Mer, Bailey, George, etc (although I think George is hanging back out of respect for the Izzy-Alex relationship). Sorry about not being so clear as to who I meant by "they"!

!greys--
I will agree with you that George has had quite a bit of drama in the past. But not with the idea that they don't have anything to write about him anymore!!!??? George is a character with so much depth, the writers could go in so many different directions with him. And especially given what's going on with Izzie-- can you really not see how he could be written in to be involved with that? Have you never seen the intense best friends connection b/t George and Izzie?? And here Izzie is sick and talking to her dead ex-fiance, but you really honestly think that George would not notice? That angle alone would give plenty for the writers to write about I think!
As a big George fan, I am not expecting the show to be O'Malley's Anatomy, but George needs more screen time. At any given time, all 5 original interns need to be on the screen. Doesn't mean we need to have a big George-as-the-main-focus storyarc, but it does mean he should be on screen interacting with the other 4, at very least. ESPECIALLY when his best friend is very sick and NO ONE else seems to have a clue that anything's going on with her!!
That's my 2 cents, !greys-- I really don't see how you could think there's nothing left for them to write about at all.
As for Shonda and writers where George is concerned-- I see it as it has to be one of two ways:
Either:
1- They are complete and total whimps who were so scared off by what the Gizzie hater fans had to say that they won't let George go near Izzie
OR
2- They are very smart and manipulating the situation by keeping George away from Izzie (and any storyline, for that matter), so that fans will be clamoring for George to be on screen and Izzie's best friend again, so they will have the blessing of all the fans when they do let them interact again
Of course there's always the possibility of behind-the-scenes tensions, but who really knows???
Whatever the reason, they better move on with some George time soon!!
oh, and thanks iheartizzie for clearing up who you were making fun of-- I thought it was Shonda and writers who you were poking at all along, but I guess some other fans took it differently. Probably just frustrated, I am sure!
