i totally agree 'greynatic', i was watching the show and the whole time i was thinkink where's derek?'.dammit!! if its really him i guess its true then, stardom goes to most peoples head. that sucks. i like him A LOT!
For some reason, I really don't think it's Derek. Remember that not every character has the same amount of screen time and in this episode was the first that he wasn't seen. Through the season he has had decent screen time (given the increase of cast members). Besides, Shonda ADORES Patrick and gettting rid of McDreamy is television suicide. Even those airheads (sorry) of ABC's executives know that. The show would lose a fairly big fanbase if Derek is cut out of the show.
I also don't see Patrick being that kind of person. If someone had a diva attitude, it's KH by far. She misbehaved first with the contract thing and not earning the same that Ellen and Patrick did, then opening her mouth with the Isaiah thing (she was right, but didn't she realized she could be doing more damage?), then complaining that she didn't have Emmy worthy material...THAT sounds to me as a diva.
My guess is towards the Chief. After the first couple of shows this season he has been MIA. Hasn't had a decent storyline but then again, neither has Derek or George. In comparation of screentime, it has to be either George (which apparently isn't) and the Chief. I wouldn't mind seeing the Chief go and put either Mark or Derek as Chief. That'd be fun.
Also, why is everyone assuming it's a he? As much as I hate to say it, Ellen has also been a little gone from this show, focusing entirely on Cristina and Izzie.
Oh and something else came up to mind. If this is recent news it would mean that the concecuences of the actions by this actor would be seen until next year, given that the episodes that we are watching right now were shot a while ago.
So if it was TR, this news should've come around August/September, and if it's Patrick, we would know about it in January which probably isn't since he's the one in the PP/GA crossover. So...my money is still on the Chief.

Anyway, wouldn't it be a trip if Dr Burke came back to Grey's? I bet Christina would have some words for him!! :)

But, now that I think about "All By Myself," I think George may have a big storyline coming up that includes Izzie's crazy self. Maybe he will be the one to call everyone's attention to it or force her to get some help.

It's McDreamy. That answer came through clear on Thurs night's episode. He's in the middle of Cristina and Meredith's fighting, his patients keep dying, and he's just not happy anymore.
It's not George. He's making a good comeback to the show so far and I can see him making a breakthrough in finding out what's wrong with Izzie and getting her help. We all began to see that Thurs night when he asked everyone if they noticed anything. If anything, George and Izzie will hopefully become best friends again.

Bring Burke back...the show needs him!! And, I do not think it is George, I think it is Hahn. The story between her and Callie was weak at best and now Callie is all of the sudden bisexual leaning towards being a full-time lesbian...this sounds like a bad story line from ER. You killed Denny off, now end it and move on. Something needs to start happening with Mer/Der. The character friend of Meredith's needs to go, she does not fit in well. Deeper stories for the main characters and stop adding new ones...we won't be bored!!
While the behavior of IW was completely uncalled for and disrespectful, it is done and over with. These are adults and should be able to move on. The world is ugly and unfair, grow up, work together, move forward...I think they should bring IW back...the show needs him. His character was a very strong character and added greatly to the show itself. It is not the character George, I think it is Hahn or the chief.

Let's see ...
The main characters are:
1- Meredith: Grey's Anatomy is all about her but still they are swapping the storyline around Lexie now (This season she dosen't show as much)
2- Derek: As they did with Burke, he could be removed aswell (He does show this season)
3- Christina: An edge that hardly can be removed specialy with the new love spin
4- Alex: Has a lot of air time
5- Ezzie: This season revolves arround her
6- George: Not seen much
7- Miranda: Cannot be replaced (Not seen much)
8- The Chief: Can be replaced
9- Mark: aka McSteamy has a new storyline plus this season revolves arround him aswell
10- Lexie: Has ALOT of air time plus a storyline
11- Cally: Seen alot
What I truly think:
Grey's anatomy revolves arround Seatle Grace not the stars themselves. Throughout the seasons it kept revolving arround Meredith & Derek along with other storylines rissing along. Stars joined and others left but still we love the series no matter what. We still miss Burke & Addison, but the writers were so smart to keep us all hooked.
If a star is fired I think it would be either Meredith (Shock) or George. Hope it isn't Meredith ...

Bring Burke back...the show needs him!! And, I do not think it is George, I think it is Hahn.
