Seven Prescriptions For Grey's Anatomy

We apologize if this post appears negative. As the editors of the web's #1 Grey's Anatomy fan site, we are as devoted and loyal to the show as humanly possible.

But we imagine even the most ardent followers believe the show could use a new prescription (or several) at this point. For all that is appealing about it week in and week out, Grey's Anatomy has lost the fire. What would you like to see done to bring it back?

We've put together a list of suggestions that could bring Grey's Anatomy back to its past glory. If you agree or disagree, tell us why - and if you have your own prescriptions to improve the health of the medical drama, by all means, leave comments below!

1. Bring Back George!

If T.R. Knight wants off the show, having been given so little depth (when he's even on screen) for so long, we honestly can't blame him. But it is sad that his character - a fan favorite of so many of us for so long - has been marginalized to this point.

2. Run with Sloan, Karev and Hunt.

This isn't actually a complaint, but something the show has done well that we hope continues in the coming months. The development of both Mark Sloan and Alex Karev (no matter how you feel about their respective love interests) has been a treat to watch, as has the addition of another complex fellow in Maj. Dr. Owen Hunt. In the words of Britney Spears, gimme more!

3. To Be Continued ...

One of Grey's Anatomy's epic, two- or even three-part sagas is just what the doctor ordered. Some of the best episodes are the 2-3 part "events." A catastrophe raises everyone's game ... as long as Meredith doesn't die again. We've already got Denny on the show full-time now.

4. Set a Due Date.

It may sound sacrilegious to even talk about, perhaps the show would deliver more powerhouse episodes if there were, say, an end date set for the show after Season Seven, giving the writers a clearer idea of where they want to go with story lines and characters and when. It's just an idea. SIDE NOTE: Grey's Anatomy seems to be introducing new characters and losing old ones at an alarming rate, making it harder and harder for fans to invest themselves.

5. More MerDer Love.

We like that there's been relatively little negative MerDer drama so far in Season Five. But we also wouldn't need our arms twisted to watch a few more loving scenes, Shonda.

6. Axe Private Practice.

We actually like the spinoff, but if it has to be sacrificed in order to focus all writing efforts back on Grey's Anatomy and improve the more important of the two shows, then it's a no-brainer. Hey, maybe Addison can even come back to Seattle full-time! Win-win!

7. Off Denny. Again. And Again. However Many Times it Takes.

We love Jeffrey Dean Morgan too, and maybe Shonda will pull something out of a hat and salvage this story line. But week after week of Izzie and Ghost Denny, with the rest of the characters oblivious and only Grey's Anatomy spoilers to tip us off to her condition? Bizarre.

I say bring Burke back if TR is leaving. The show hasn't been the same since he left. Sure, his personal morals and mouth leave little to be desired, but as an actor he's great.. everyone works with a jerk.. doesn't mean they can't do their job.

I agree with most of the prescriptions too, mainly offing Denny once and for all...Lame! Why can't Izzie just go and see Mer's shrink and work on steaming things up with Karev. They've had sexual tension between them for quite some time and it's about time we see that blossom into something more than craziness.

Definitely love the MerDer relationship, them getting back together was the best thing for the show because I was not digging the DerRose fling. I'd love to see MerDer get married or something McSpicey though, cooling off a little too much for me.

As for Cristina, love her, share the name, love that she's getting some Hunt action and hope to see more of that to come.

Yeah, George is an original cast member, yeah he's even got a loveable character, but I feel like it's his choice and if he isn't happy on the show, you gotta wonder if the terrible ordeal between he and Isaiah Washington didn't contribute to his decision. I think either way the show will survive without him.

Snowedunder, Gexie has a pretty big fanbase, way bigger than Mexie. Mexie is making people react..WITH DISGUST! Is that what the show wants?

Enough with the bashing Gizzie too, a huge number of us loved that couple and still do.

Gorge is why I watch so if they let him go, I am gone too.

  4. David Says:

I Completely agree with the list.
I want to see more of Mereidth and Cristina friendship. I miss the two of them together. Just a great friendship they have.
More same sex couples! I was so rooting for Callie and Hahn!
And get rid of Denny!!!!!!!! Where is the storyline going???
didn't they learn from last years mistake!?? That whole Gizzie thing! Yuck
And more meaningful surgeries!! I miss that the most

    More meaningful surg

And the George-Lexie story had potential. Seriously. I didn't know why they did not pursue it. Maybe because people are not really responding to it.

I suddenly remembered back in Season 2, when George and Izzie were "officially" bestfriends, I kind of predicted their love-affair storyline. Hmmmm.

  7. snowedunder Says:

I say they should bring back ISAIAH WASHINGTON even just for an episode. (Imagine how great that would be.) Set all issues aside for a moment and make the show interesting again. Hahahaha. There goes your ratings!

  8. RLM Says:

As a HUGE fan of GA, here are my suggestions...

    1. Cut back on Lexie's story line. The only thing about her character that I enjoyed was when she was at odds with Meredith.

    2. Let us find out what is wrong with Izzy. I don't mind watching her and Denny hook up but we need to know why it's happening - and fast. It's already been dragged out for too long.

    3. Don't get rid of PP! It's awesome although some of their recent episodes have been kind of "reaching".

    4. Get rid of Melissa George's character - she is crazy and annoying.

Like many others have said, Seasons 1 and 2 were fabulous. 3 was good except for the terrible ending with Cristina and Burke. 4 was awful until after the strike. 5 is OK so far, (although the season premiere was awful IMHO) but going downhill fast. I agree with whoever said that all the new characters are bringing things down... the core characters need their story lines revived - Meredith, Derek, Sloane, George, Izzy, Cristina, and the hot new doctor that Cristina is into. Lexy is so boring, and the new interns are terrible!

I'm rethinking my first comment and have changed my mind about setting and end date. There are so many shows that have been on for years. They can keep the show going for a very long time easily. Also, Private Practice is getting pretty good, but they need to focus more on Grey's. Shonda needs some help.

  10. Karson Says:

I agree with everything except getting rid of PP. I agree especially with number 1. We the fans love George and he needs to come back. he brought humor, warmth and brightness to the show.
