Seven Prescriptions For Grey's Anatomy

We apologize if this post appears negative. As the editors of the web's #1 Grey's Anatomy fan site, we are as devoted and loyal to the show as humanly possible.

But we imagine even the most ardent followers believe the show could use a new prescription (or several) at this point. For all that is appealing about it week in and week out, Grey's Anatomy has lost the fire. What would you like to see done to bring it back?

We've put together a list of suggestions that could bring Grey's Anatomy back to its past glory. If you agree or disagree, tell us why - and if you have your own prescriptions to improve the health of the medical drama, by all means, leave comments below!

1. Bring Back George!

If T.R. Knight wants off the show, having been given so little depth (when he's even on screen) for so long, we honestly can't blame him. But it is sad that his character - a fan favorite of so many of us for so long - has been marginalized to this point.

2. Run with Sloan, Karev and Hunt.

This isn't actually a complaint, but something the show has done well that we hope continues in the coming months. The development of both Mark Sloan and Alex Karev (no matter how you feel about their respective love interests) has been a treat to watch, as has the addition of another complex fellow in Maj. Dr. Owen Hunt. In the words of Britney Spears, gimme more!

3. To Be Continued ...

One of Grey's Anatomy's epic, two- or even three-part sagas is just what the doctor ordered. Some of the best episodes are the 2-3 part "events." A catastrophe raises everyone's game ... as long as Meredith doesn't die again. We've already got Denny on the show full-time now.

It

4. Set a Due Date.

It may sound sacrilegious to even talk about, perhaps the show would deliver more powerhouse episodes if there were, say, an end date set for the show after Season Seven, giving the writers a clearer idea of where they want to go with story lines and characters and when. It's just an idea. SIDE NOTE: Grey's Anatomy seems to be introducing new characters and losing old ones at an alarming rate, making it harder and harder for fans to invest themselves.

5. More MerDer Love.

We like that there's been relatively little negative MerDer drama so far in Season Five. But we also wouldn't need our arms twisted to watch a few more loving scenes, Shonda.

6. Axe Private Practice.

We actually like the spinoff, but if it has to be sacrificed in order to focus all writing efforts back on Grey's Anatomy and improve the more important of the two shows, then it's a no-brainer. Hey, maybe Addison can even come back to Seattle full-time! Win-win!

7. Off Denny. Again. And Again. However Many Times it Takes.

We love Jeffrey Dean Morgan too, and maybe Shonda will pull something out of a hat and salvage this story line. But week after week of Izzie and Ghost Denny, with the rest of the characters oblivious and only Grey's Anatomy spoilers to tip us off to her condition? Bizarre.

1.Here it is. All I want is that the former characters come back.

    2.There is no Lesbo love.

3.Meredith and Derek are understanding eachother.

    4.The Cristina-Meredith friendship.

5.(Stupid) Shonda to stop kicking out the asses of the good ones.

6.Let everything go back to NORMAL!

Finally, I am just happy of one thing. Grey's Anatomy is still in the box office. But honestly, Season 5. WHATEVER. ughhh.

Totally in appreciation of the prescriptions, hope to see the producers or writers will appreciate them too. It's been getting harder for me to keep up watching the show, in the season 5.
As you've written, yeah we LOVE Jeffrey Dean Morgan, but...
And the storyline seems to move on sooo slowly. No great Meredith-Derek love story, no Christina, no George as we know and love them.

  3. squirt Says:

I completely agree with all of them... except 4, it's too hard to say goodbye, i'd rather think naive, and hope it will go on forever xD.
definitely more mer-der!, and i really like seeinge more of sloan! the 'to be continued...' will already happen, they get a serial killer... xD NO getting rid of any characters!!! except denny, i's really like to see a decent explanation for the weird stuff that has been going on! COME ON! (pronounced like drunk izzie) xD
and i wouldn't mind if they stopped private practice.. i really miss addison in grey's.. i'd like to see her come back! i think that would be good for the show!

  4. cue Says:

i totaly agree with more merder love n bring back our george. and enought about denny, he

  5. annv Says:

I agree with every single item on the list of suggestions. 100%!!!!

  6. LovetheRain Says:

I'm on board until you start talking about axing PP...just because Shonda's eating fruit off the crazy tree for GA doesn't mean PP needs to take a hit. (think of Pete people!). Though I'd love to see Addison back in Seattle.

(Yes, off Denny again. Faster pussycat kill kill!)

  7. CLmaster Says:

Almost everything is right.... But it's crazy to cut Private Practice.... I know what you mean, but PP's season 2 has been better than Grey's season 5. PP is great and refreshing, because it seems that GA lose the road and they don't know what to do now.
I hope they keep working like they are on PP and improve GA.

The Dizzie XD story is kind of boring..... I hope the end of it is as amazing as Shonda said, because now it's just lame and it really ruined a bit the original story of both lovers... I mean seriously after episode 5.08 I watched season's 2 finale and I was like "mmmmmmmmm.... it isn't sad anymore.... he is coming back every season". And they are messing up Izzie a LOT, I mean she's crazy and I hated how she was with Christina on the last aired episode.
Where is the friendship between Izzie, George, Mer, Christina and Alex..... they just seem to be together if there's a storyline in between.

  8. Janet Says:

Axing PP? Seriously?! This show is getting so good! David Sutcliffe just makes me melt.

But I totally agree with the 2-3 episode arcs, these are usually the best, but then again you can't keep having catastrophe after catastrophe, it would just seem really weird.

  9. sally Says:

    i agree 100%
more MerDer, and enough with denny.
i don't mind stopping PP, if that means more GA

PLEASE MORE MERDER, i miss them
