Nothing particularly new or groundbreaking here, but in case you haven't seen or heard, and want a general idea of what we can expect in the first three episodes of the new year, we've posted ABC's official press releases about them for you below.
With titles like "Wish You Were Here," "Sympathy For the Devil," and "Stairway to Heaven," it looks like the writers are planning something big. Or listening to a lot of classic rock.

"Wish You Were Here," January 8 (5.11)
Bailey teams with Seattle Grace's new pediatric surgeon, Dr. Arizona Robbins, to save the life of a young patient near and dear to her heart, as the admittance of a death row inmate at the hospital stirs anger in Derek and further erodes Meredith and Cristina's friendship; meanwhile, Callie and Sloan work as a team to fight their respective attractions to Sadie and Lexie, and Izzie tells Alex that she's seeing Denny.
"Sympathy for the Devil," January 15 (5.12)
Derek's mother, Carolyn, makes a surprise visit to Seattle and meets Meredith for the first time, as Mark tries to conceal his relationship with Lexie from her as well; meanwhile, death row inmate William wishes to donate his organs to Bailey and Arizona's patient, as Owen and Cristina try to go on their first date.
"Stairway to Heaven," January 22 (5.13)
Bailey grows desperate as a patient's condition becomes more and more dire. Everyone in the hospital is stepping up to try to find the boy a new organ donor, including Meredith, who considers a death row patient's wish to die before execution. Meanwhile, an injury leaves Mark in a compromising position in the OR and Cristina awkwardly avoids Owen.

Drama, Drama I'm so excited about these next 3 episod.Can't for the life of me figure out why Cristina is avoiding Owen. (That's NOT GOOD) My heart will not be able to stand any type of mess up with Cristina/Owen relationship.
And why is Der showing up at Cristina's apartment???? I'm hoping to find out what happened to Cristina/Mer friendship. It can't be about work/Patient because he would have paged her to come to the hosp.
And when is Mer going back to see Dr Wyatt??? I really need this riff between Cristina/Mer fixed NOW!!!!
It's just taking to long to make it right again.
I'm going to be a crazy mess by the time jan 8th gets here.
It looks like these next 3 episo. will require a lot of Vodak and Merlot to help me get thru all this DRAMA that is about to rain down!!!!

I think the serial killer story will be good. I also look forward to seeing the Mum. I wonder what Mark will be "compromised" about? And what happens on the first that that will have Chris avoiding Army after? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Before you George fans go absolutely crazy with no mention of George in there ... with George probably leaving, do you really think they are going to give him more of a storyline when they weren't even giving him one when he hadn't asked for a release?
Only one mention of Izzie. And she tells Alex. I'm scared for her.
