i still don't like erica and callie together. I have nothing against a gay relationship on greys but the two of them have no chemistry whatsoever in my eyes and i would like to see callie with mark. i too loved the "You're good for more than just sex"-line. mark really needs to realize that and so do others.
oh and more than cristinas "RUN" I loved Mers face. FINALlY a reaaally funny scene again.
wow, no gizzie comment so far. way to go!

Go to greysanatomynews.com....it says that Brooke Smith got fired for being a gay character on ABC...How crazy is that??
I don't know if any of you know, but Brooke Smith has been written out of Grey's, and I am now wondering WHAT THE HELL ABC are thinking about?! Any of you with me? Can we form a group or something - SOMETHING to keep them from kicking her out of the show? Grey's Anatomy will never be the same without Brooke Smith as Erica Hahn!!

greys anatomy will survive without brooke smith, i mean it went 3 acutally GOOD seasons without her. season 4 and 5 kinda sucked.

I didn't favor her character but it is ridiculous why they wrote her out. There are other gay characters on the abc network and they said they would get rid of her as soon as next weeks episode. So they have to cut her out of episodes already made.

Well, it looks like Callie would end up with Mark.
Yeah I saw it on ew.com about Brooke Smith. She said in her interview that she found out mid-September...and that she'll be seen walking to her car at the end of the episode...then the next episode they will have the new Cardiac doc...and she said that it wasnt Shonda Rimes' decision...but ABC's...that's some crap!!!!
Well, seeing as Brooke Smith [Erica] was fired from the show and this thursday will be her last episode, I'm going for either callie and mark, or neither. I'm posting the link to the article about the "discharge" of Brooke as well as the link to contact ABC with any complaints you may or may not have regarding this situation.
I want more George, whether with Lexie or Izzie, I just want more George.

Brooke and Sara are gone. This show sucks now, I didn't like Callica, but geesh not even a proper send off. They haven't anounced Sara yet, but she was spotted apartment hunting in NYC. ABC sucks for doing this, seriously.
@sarafan and lee: I'm definitely in if you'd like to start a group or petition. I'm vehement!

Are you surprised? This is the show that dropped Gizzie because of a few very vocal haters, some who hated them because TR is gay in real life, didn't you think the extremely loud homophobes would scare them into dropping Callica too Once the show let haters scare them into dropping one storyline, they'll drop others after. The haters know their tactic work too, just whine extra loud and threaten to quit. ABC are cowards and Shonda will do their bidding.
Not only are Callica gone, but all the new gay characters are being rewritten as hetero according to Kristen.
And TR, their gay actor, gets no airtime anymore.
Homophobia and shallowness rules Grey and I for one am tired of it.
I loved both Gizzie and Callica and they got killed by haters.
OH My! brooke is leaving?..i learned to like her as erica, and also when they chose her as replacement for burke's role as a surgeon..although i didn't feel that erica and callie have the chemistry..i still like them both..and i hate abc for firing erica, cardio will no longer be hardcore..i think callie and mark have more chemistry..i'm gonna miss callica though..
it seemed too fast for alex and izzie..shonda should have given izzie and george more time..they act as if nothing happened between the two of them..
and I'm dying to see more MERDER scenes like before..i really love the couple..derek should ask mer to spend the weekend with him again now that they are couples..they have all the reason to be away together..
SERIOUSLY!!!!! WHAT THE F*CK!!!!! Callica was such a great storyline, it showed that it doesn't matter what your sexuality is, and showed great support for the gay/lesbian/bi community in the world.. ABC sucks ass for firing her.. Grey's is going to suck with out callica.. =[ we already dont get enough merder lovin' time as it is.. and now they freaking write brooke smith out of the show.. my day couldnt get any worse.
what's up with all the cardio-thoracic suregeons being written out of the show and fired?! they are dropping like flies! 3 attendings already left the show, addy burke & now erica =[

Interesting, given that they've rewritten Melissa George's character to be straight, and ABC fired Rebecca Romijn, who plays a transwoman, from Ugly Betty.
I'm not sure how a network that fired Isaiah Washington for using an antigay slur and that had the cast of Grey's do PSAs for the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation can turn around and start purging its primetime lineup of openly LGBT characters... I'll be curious to see how long the gay marriage on Brothers & Sisters lasts.
I only began watching Grey's last season as a result of the Callie and Erica storyline (I'm a gay woman, and it's rare to see lesbian relationships portrayed in even a remotely realistic way on television), and I find every other character on the show to be pretty darn irritating (except for Sloan, he's a keeper), so suffice to say I'll be tuning in to the Office and 30 Rock after this week's episode.

UPDATE: Shonda Rhimes has just released the following statement in response to this story: "Brooke Smith was obviously not fired for playing a lesbian. Clearly it's not an issue as we have a lesbian character on the show – Calliope Torres. Sara Ramirez is an incredible comedic and dramatic actress and we wanted to be able to play up her magic. Unfortunately, we did not find that the magic and chemistry with Brooke's character would sustain in the long run. The impact of the Callie/Erica relationship will be felt and played out in a story for Callie. I believe it belittles the relationship to simply replace Erica with 'another lesbian.' If you'll remember, Cristina mourned the loss of Burke for a full season."
If chemistry between the two was the case, why not just change the storyline? Why fire her? Very fishy...
Jess Says:

Exactly, Shred. I think that having Erica have this huge revelation and then get left behind by Callie would be excellent for her development as a character. And if they were willing to explore same-sex possibilities for Callie in the future, why rewrite Sadie as a heterosexual? They can't possibly be entertaining the idea of introducing yet ANOTHER character... the show is already too cast-heavy to be able to give any of the storylines the attention/time they deserve.
Let's not forget that Shonda isn't the one who fired Brooke - the network did. What Shonda released in her statement is probably how she feels, but evidently her feelings are very much trumped by the network. For real, if the gay marriage on Brothers & Sisters goes under before the end of sweeps, we'll know that something is seriously up at ABC.

And stop watching. This thursday is Brooke's last episode... don't watch any more... if you even watch this one.
Those are about our only options. Perhaps if we complain as much as those who were against it did... they'll bring her back. Although, I doubt she'd come back after this. I certainly wouldn't.
I guess Brooke lovers around the world will just have to hope that she'll get picked up on a great show of her own.

Interesting how there are rumours circulation that Sara Ramirez will be leavin the show as well after ep 15. It seems that Ramirez wants to head back to Broadway.
But with Shonda's statement, I doubt it's true. Then again, stranger things have happened.
brookesleaves: thanks for the links. I'm no longer watching the show--not even this episode. I've written fan fiction, followed every episode from the day one, but I can't support a show/network that would allow for such a thing to happen. As much as it will pain me to "breakup" with Grey's, it's more important that I "stick up" for what I believe. The homophobia that the writers fail to acknowledge counteracts all the efforts of the gay community. I won't support something that fails to recognize me as a human being capable of loving another human being (regardless of sex).
Brooke proven she's a talented actress; someone will snap her up for their show in a heartbeat.
