Kevin McKidd Becomes Grey's Anatomy Cast Member
The revolving door at Seattle Grace Hospital sent Brooke Smith on her way last week, but this week the Grey’s Anatomy cast has a new, full-time member.
Kevin McKidd is joining the show as a series regular.
The Scottish actor, who plays Dr. Owen Hunt, and who starred in Made of Honor with Patrick Dempsey earlier in the year, is thrilled to be added to the regular cast after his starring role on NBC’s sci-fi series Journeyman was cut short after 13 episodes.
“It’s a great show, and I’m lucky to be on it,” said McKidd, 35.
Dr. Owen Hunt is a trauma surgeon and veteran from the war in Iraq who has shown signs of becoming a great love interest for Dr. Cristina Yang.
Kevin McKidd, who lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Jane, and their two children Joseph, 8, and Iona, 6, says he is very happy to be working with Grey's Anatomy leading man Patrick Dempsey again, although their previous screen pairing was merely a coincidence.
“I got a knock on my door [from Patrick],” he says of his first day on set. “I said, ‘did you have anything to do with this?’ He said, ‘no, they don’t tell us anything.”

i kinda do like kevin's character. Derek and Mark don't but i think they will get use to him. its going to be a very interesting couple of episodes for derek between mer's friend sadie and owen. i can't wait.

Glad to hear he's staying-- looking forward to seeing Dr. Hunt revealed bit by bit every week!!!!

OMG YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am soooo HAPPY that Kevin McKidd is a regular now! YAY!! I can't wait to see what happens with him and Cristina! they have so much chemistry its going to be awsome! and imagine if Burke came back wow they would be like fighting over her!
