Now that Brooke is gone, I'm going to have so much more time on my hands- I won't feel compelled to check this site compulsively or take time out of my Thursdays to watch Grey's. Thanks, ABC, for being homophobic and completely intolerant.
"No chemistry." Whatever . . . pretext. And for everyone who's stood up for Brooke during this fiasco: THANK YOU.

I am generally confused at the outrage that’s being directed towards Erica Hahn’s departure from this show. Personally, as an advocate for gay rights, I was appalled at the relationship between Callie and Hahn, and think “expelling” Hahn from the show was a creative decision made by writers who saw how cheaply that story line had been written. Why, out of all the relationships on this show, is the only homosexual one made to be so phony and ridiculous? For one thing, Callie and Hahn have no chemistry whatsoever, and I also agree with those who have said Hahn has no chemistry with nearly anybody on this show (unless chemistry refers to her thin lipped scowl spewing degrading remarks left and right). Secondly, this relationship has only demonstrated immature, childlike “sex talk”, and shown us a story line containing only sexual dysfunction. As far as I’m concerned, there was no real relationship written for us there—there was no chemistry, there were no genuine feelings and emotions—only confusion and immaturity. Is this how ABC chooses to represent a gay relationship? Callie sleeping with Mark Sloan to “practice”? If that happened in any of the heterosexual relationships, would that have been considered “funny” or “normal” ?? Are we supposed to believe this is how gay relationships are? Confused, disorganized, and immature? How about a real gay relationship on this show? It’s interesting how viewers forget that an actor and character who did have chemistry, who did have complex and believable story lines, was fired for his anti-gay remarks. And that a real actor on Grey’s is actually gay and continues to be a part of this show. Is ABC really voicing its homophobia as it makes a creative decision to eliminate a plot that is phony, unrealistic, and portraying gay relationships in a cheapened and awkward light? I commend ABC for its decision, however abruptly it was made, but am disappointed in the viewers collectively (gay and straight alike) for their inability to detect a weak and disappointing portrayal of gay and lesbian relationships. Some of us are quite cheaply bought, and this only propagates negative and inaccurate stereotypes.

I'm actually glad that Erica is leaving the show, cos I couldnt quite accept the idea of Callica. I would have preferred for Callie to hang out with Mark instead. The Callica thing looks very awkward to me anyway, right from the very start.

    Dr. Wu-
I so, totally agree with you!! What you wrote pretty much sums this whole post up. Loved your comment!

  5. alexaholic Says:

Dr. Wu, are you really a doctor? And by the way, I agree with everything you said about Callie and Hahn--I thought their relationship left ALOT to be desired. The interplay between Hahn--Callie--Mark was very childish. It was not particularly romantic or sexy at all. What's sexy about Callie barking orders to "take off your pants" to either hahn or sloan? whatever happened to foreplay? Or is that just for heterosexual relationships?

  6. Dreamymoon Says:

I think it be cool when everyone least expects it, for Erica to waltz back in after a little bit of time has passed, just to prove to Callie that she is over her "permanently" and once again, a heterosexual by wearing a large rock on her left hand, dressed to the 9s (totally out of character), with her "husband" in tow (for convincing purposes), which would be much to the surprise of all the staff, none other than Trapper John, MD or even Hawkeye Pierce (ala M*A*S*H for you young ones). After much talk behind each others back, jealousy and disbelief, the two girls would finally make their way into a passionate embrace with Erica's confession that her new man cannot "please" her and of her undying devotion and love for Callie. The climax of this scene would be revealing the whole time, that "Trapper" or "Hawkeye" witnessed the whole blasted confession and romantic overtures, and crashes to the ground in front of the 2 women, having an MI (myocardial infarction aka "heart attack") in disbelief over what he has has just witnessed.

  7. ilovegreys Says:

personally i think izzie is in a lot of trouble.
erica threatened to turn izzie in for "stealing a heart" and so now since she is seeing denny and ive read everywhere that she has a brain tumor and might "die off the show"
i just think izzie isnt looking very good.
she will prob get kicked out cause of erica and then she will get a tumor and die. :(
and then i will stop watching the show. haha
