Michael Ausiello of EW has a lot of good stuff on Grey's Anatomy in his weekly spoiler Q&A today. He covers everything from the absence of George to the portrayal of Dr. Dixon, to Mark Sloan and "Little Grey" and more on Hahn's dismissal. Here goes ...
Q: Tell me more about this Grey's Anatomy-Private Practice crossover. I'm intrigued.
A: It'll take place over the course of three episodes (February 5, 12, and 19) and the only confirmed participant as of now is Kate Walsh.
Q: I didn't think Shonda Rhimes could ever come up with anything worse than Gizzie on Grey's Anatomy, but this ghost Denny business is about one episode away from officially being the worst thing the show has ever done. Please tell me it will be over soon!
A: Afraid not. Denny will be haunting Izzie at least through February. In possibly related news, the title of episode 14 is "Beat Your Heart Out." Hmmm....
Q: Is Mary McDonnell going to be back on Grey's Anatomy? I loved her Dr. Dixon. I watched last week's episode thinking she'd be back, but she wasn't.
A: Her second of three episodes, "All By Myself," airs December 4. Personally, I wasn't a fan. You know I worship the ground McDonnell walks on, but I found her Asperger's depiction a tad over the top. And I'm not alone. Megan, a self-proclaimed Aushole and Asperger's sufferer, called the portrayal "robotic and single focused - which we are but not to that degree. Grey's Anatomy missed the boat on this one. Instead of normal with slight social misperceptions, it came off as a bad version of a high-functioning autistic, and they're two different things."
Q: Enough with Izzie-Denny and Cristina-Owen. I'm surprised that no one has asked about another "situation" that I've noticed on Grey's Anatomy since the season began: The slow and steady flirtation between Mark and Lexie. Where are they going with this?
A: To first base in early '09, and I can't wait. McSteamy is actually making Lexie (gulp) interesting.
Q: Why has T.R. Knight had only a few scenes per episode on Grey's Anatomy recently?
A: I did some digging and, unfortunately, there's nothing juicy to report. I'm told it's just part of the natural ebb and flow of storylines. He'll start flowing again next year when he gets mixed up in the Alex-Izzie-Denny story, but not in any romantic sort of capacity. Shonda may be kooky but she's not a masochist.
Q: How come ABC has issues with lesbians on Grey's Anatomy, but no problem with all the guy-on-guy make-out sessions on Brothers & Sisters?
A: I honestly don't think the suits at ABC are scared of gay men or lesbians. They just despised the character of Erica Hahn and her romance with Callie Torres. And as soon as they had proof that the audience agreed, they dumped Brooke Smith. As an ABC insider explained, "In the process of doing some maintenance polling, the sample group for Grey's Anatomy hated the Callie/Erica coupling while still liking Callie."

I totally agree about the whole Hahn thing. In my opinion, ABC ditched her because most fans didn´t like her as a doctor and a person, and her relationship with Callie just didn´t wash. But we all love Callie, and she has such chemistry with Mark, and the gay thing just came out of the blue...
I also agree with this opinion on Dr. Dixon... it made me wonder how could someone so detached go through med school? she seemed to be a bit slow, and it showed that her colleagues don´t think her to be too bright, since Miranda Bailey treated her so disrespectfully... that part when she puts Bailey in her place was great.

Oh, and I forgot, this Izzie-Denny thing is ten times worse than the Gizzie incident, but since now nobody seems to remember any of it, not even Callie, maybe we will soon forget all about this dead man walking disaster.
Lexie and Mark? I don´t know, I think Lexie needs to grow a backbone fast, she seems to be a moron most of the time... and didn´t she love George? Anyway, I can´t wait for Addison to come back...

Are people forgetting that Meredith and Lexie are, what, a year apart? And Mark and Derek are the same age. So, in reality, isn't Meredith too young for Derek?
I hate the idea of Lexie and Mark together. I want Lexie and George, but Lexie needs to get HER crap together, because she's gotten annoying since the little intern society started. Thankfully, that's done with. Hopefully our residents, the ones that were on the show first, will get more airtime instead of the little twelve-year-olds.
And finally, people have decided to ask about George. Hopefully next year, or next season, he'll have a bigger storyline. If they need help, I would be more than HAPPY to do the job for FREE! (hint hint, Shonda and everyone else over at the Grey's Anatomy writing staff).
Am I the only one that's actually sorta starting to like the Izzie-Denny thing? Hell, I like her better with the ghost than with Alex. But then again, I could never stand Alex. He doesn't show his good side enough, and we all know he has one.
Cristina and Owen are my current favorite, possible-get-together couple on Grey's right now. They're interesting, and sorta different.
Glad to see there'll be possible more George-Izzie scenes. I don't see how Gizzie was a "disaster", because Meredith is a walking train wreck most of the time and she tends to actually treat Derek rather crappily, but heaven forbid we speak bad about MerDer.
Ohh, and Addy be returnin'? BOOYAH!

Well, I figured the age thing out at the beginning of the whole show. I mean, think about it:
Meredith was just an intern, which added the years she spent around Europe, puts her in her late 20s.
Derek had even gotten married! I don't remember if it was for 6 years or 9 years. But it's pretty clear that Derek is either in his late 30s or very early 40s.
I totally agree with the whole "ABC dumping Brooke Smith" thing. I like Brooke Smith, I love Sara Ramirez. I hated Hahn but I still love Callie. I think the love story between them was an attempt to save Hahn, to show her inner person, her NICER side. But she never stopped being mean to Cristina. She was nice to everyone else, but the simple fact that she had slept with Burke and what's his name(the other mentor) just made Hahn think less of Cristina.
So I'm glad Hahn's out.
And I'm even happier that Addie is coming back in february!!! Richard never filled her spot...well, SHONDA never filled her spot. (bc every hospital has more than one OB/GYN, we just don't see anything else in that area anymore.)
I love it when Addie comes back and puts a little California Sunshine in everyone!

First of all, thanks again to iheartizzie for bringing to light the absence of George-- Us George fans REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!!! I hate to wait until February, but I'm glad to hear that we will finally be seeing more George and also that he will be involved with what's going on with Izzie and Denny and Alex-- cause he's her best friend and it doesn't make sense for him not to be there with her when she's going through such a big emotional thing.
