"Brooke Smith was obviously not fired for playing a lesbian, Erica Hahn. Clearly it's not an issue as we have a lesbian character on the show – Calliope Torres --- bull sh!t -- callie struggled with her identity as gay and that is why she remains -- they'll have her jump back into mc whoever's arms by next week's episode -- this is the worst kind of discrimination -- "How strangely will the Tools of a Tyrant pervert the plain Meaning of Words!" -- samuel adams

  2. Kat Says:

I am still so damn furious about this. "they chemistry wouldn't work out in the long run"... oh i'm sorry, but i'm pretty sure the whole reason their relationship started was because of THEIR CHEMISTRY. It was the whole point. They didn't click because they were both gay, they clicked because they clicked. I don't think this is the way Shonda had intended it. It's just extremely sad that she has to let this happen and have the network change the way she want's to write things. I can't believe people are still homophobic. Really unfair.

  3. kat Says:

OH AND, they built this relationship up so much and it was a huge part of the show. You don't climax it like that to just CUT it randomly. Erica just walks away at the end of episode 8 and THAT'S IT? Like good one there, so very creative and magical. IM PISSED!

  4. Rebecca Says:

I think Brooke Smith is an excellent, excellent actress and I loved Erica Hahn. She was caustic, but very funny. If the suits didn't like where the storyline with Callie was going, why didn't they have the storyline go in another direction instead of dropping Brooke Smith? Callie and Mark could have gotten together and Erica could have had a thing with the new bi-sexual girl. Callie and Erica weren't working anyway. They seemed to be trying too hard. That is too bad.

  5. McSpirited Says:

Ugh. Why do they do this?
    T.R. can't leave!!
    :(

  6. Rocky Says:

Fantastic!!!!! Now I can enjoy watching again!

  7. Mike From PEI Says:

I'm not a homophobe or any of the sort. But even I guessed this was coming. The network execs at Disney are stuck in the Guy/Gal era, and as a "family" company, they probably think that it's too risque' to show to much detail on a lesbian relationship. Which sucks, because Callie and Erica had potential for a great relationship.

  8. Mer/Der4ever Says:

OMG!! i am going to miss erica and what she brought to the show! im also goin g to miss brookes acting! I LOVE HER!! i think im going to have to satay home and mope for a while!! But we'll see what they do next!!

I'LL mis you Brooke and Callica!!

    R.I.P Callica :( :(

  9. Rachel Says:

Erica and Callie were my favorite couple on the show. I was very upset and mad that they would fire Brooke Smith because her character[Erica Hahn] and Sara Ramirez character[Callie Torres] didnt have good chemistry. Are you crazy? They had great chemistry,i really wanted to see there relationship grow. I was so excited to see two very incredible actresses come together and end up fallin madly in love. I think that the network made a very horrible descion. I love grey's anatomy.

  10. Good idea! Says:

It's good this storyline will be ending. I know some people who stopped watching the show because they couldn't stand it. It's one thing to have a gay character, but we don't need to see or hear about such gross details as they were getting into!

  11. Thissucks Says:

    Firing BS is BS
    ):

  12. EricaFan Says:

I so agree with you Kat and BringEricaBack

  13. Luvndyke Says:

"Fan of the Show", are you a NAZI? Is no one else bothered by her racist, illiterate ramblings??? I am upset with the way the storyline ended because finally a lesbian who didn't look like Barbie or cindy Crawford was depicted on television, and she was, of all things, actually having a relationship! Not all lesbians are supermodels, and seeing ordinary women portraying lesbians was refreshing.

  14. quinn Says:

As a lesbian I found parts of this story-line difficult. But I could identify the process each character was going through as we all have had to come to terms as to who we are as people during some point in our lives. I'm not surprised that ABC pulled the plug on it, but I am disappointed. Seattle, WA is a very diverse community. There is a huge gay population located there and it doesn't seem realistic that there isn't that popultation represented on this show. As far as Shonda Rhimes giving the company line that they still have a lesbian character, Callie, I must remind her that they have not wriiten the character to identify herself as such and as long as she continues to have intimate relationships with men, she will not be labled as such and Shonda and ABC are on safer ground
I have watched this show since it's begining. I love the characters, the different storylines. I laugh and cry every week. Brooke's termination makes me sad on a very human level. If Shonda or ABC decide they can "fix" Callie, or make her "normal" again, I will shut this show off for good and I will encourage everyone I know to do the same.
I'm done with mainstream America deciding if our sector of the popluation is acceptable or not. We are not a fad. We are human beings and our stories, characters, and lives are not up for being fired.

  15. Lori Says:

I was surprised to see them get rid of Hahn so quickly. The way the storyline was developing, they could have just ended her relationship with Callie quite easily. I don't think how they did it was very fair to Brooke. Also, I did not see any chemistry between George and Izzie either. I was choked with that whole storyline. I preferred to see George with Callie. They had chemistry.

  16. Maxime Says:

just because american people dont think the good way to, shes been fired. i think this relation ship could have moved on mentalities.. Well, i hope this show will not loose in integrity with this problem/
GOOD LUCK BECAUSE I CANT LIVE WITH OUT GREYS ANATOMY.

  17. Medi Says:

never really liked the show...started watching only when Callica was taken to the next level...thought to myself the show is not so boring to death after all...
I think Brook's character was hot! who cares she hates everybody, that even makes her more hot! love what she did with Erica, the storyline did suck but for sure was not her fault..they couldn't wish for someone more pro than Brook to play Erica..the sloppy work is on abc...not gonna watch more of it for sure....now all i can do is wait for nip/tuck to start. that's a show! grey's writers go learn some skills from nip/tuck's writers....
Brook, all I can say is that you don't want to be associated with a show like that, you were the best actress on the show..can't wait to see what you're gonna do next...
and one last thing...your voice is so sexy!!!

  18. A Says:

I'm a french and i like grey's anatomy. It was beautiful the couple Erica and Callie ♥ . That changed

  19. Legaspi Says:

It is simply sickening to hear of this. I would think that people could move into the 21st centry and agree to disagree. Brooke and Sara did an excellent job with their characters. This relationship on grey's was well written and followed along with what happens in real life. I love the comparison to getting glasses. It was the most simple way to compare and a way to have such and impact. If i was on the show, I would walk away. depending on how this pans out....i will not be continuing to watch.

  20. Petals121 Says:

I think both actresses, Brooke and Sara did a fine job on the show. I think the chemistry worked well for them as best friends but I think it fell flat when it became sexual. There didn't seem to be anything but Callie having some curiosity, not a real revelation that she might indeed be a lesbian.

The Callie character got too freaked out about it and it became almost silly to watch.

I do think the firing was a bad move. Brooke is talented and added a great tension to the show. They just needed to move away from those two being a couple. Another gay couple? Sure.

  21. Shelly Says:

Did Grey's Anatomy lose their original writers or something?! The story lines are not what they were in the first season. And actually are now very disappointing. This used to be mine and my daughters favorite show but now it's like "take it or leave it". Sorry to say something is different and it's not good. Fix it before you lose us all.

  22. Britt Says:

I am really shocked by this I was wondering where Dr. Hahn went and personally I do not like where the show is going. I thought Dr. Hahn was a great addition I was a little upset at how Callie was portraying the idea of a lesbian. I mean come on like we need a man to show us how to please a woman. Its absolutely ridiculous but I loved Dr Hahn for her acting not for her sudden relationship with Callie but whatever. I just do not like where it has been going. Denny is back?? No Denny is dead its like they are searching for a story line but they just keep going back to the same old. I think I'm done with grey's which is sad cause I really enjoyed the first 2 seasons, and I leave the head big shots of ABC with this quote..."tolerance is the oil which takes the friction out of life" so grease up guys I think we as americans could all use a little less friction and stress so this is our country...let us be free.

  23. Nena Says:

I just can't believe this, I really can't. I mean, did they give a solid reason for firing her? Nope, didn't think so! They just fired her because ABC is too damn frightened of having a lesbian relationship in their show. Personally, I liked the addition of Hahn to the series, and when it turned out that she and Callie were going to have a relationship, I thought that was great. Not just for the show, also for the television in general - finally a well known series with a gay relationship!

But as it turns out, they got cold feet and decided to abandon the Hahn-Callie relationship. Well, I know one thing for sure, and that is that if they don't tie up all the loose ends neatly now they simply cut Hahn out, I don't think I'll ever watch the show again.

  24. LJ Says:

Thanks ABC for proving to the rest of the world what a bunch of nasty, narrow-minded homophobes you really are! How utterly insulting for all gay people that you couldn't stay with the story! Hahn and Torres were great. I've had it with GA...you've lost me and I will happily dump the four series I have purchased. What a bunch of losers you really are! Thank god I am not American! Mind you what can we expect from a country that supports Proposition 8, rampant religious whackos and Sarah Palin!

  25. Elaine Says:

I glad they dropped hahn, her character was annoying and no replacement for Burke. To be honest i felt their portrayal of a gay relationship was even more offensive then them not having one a all. I just felt it was shock tactics with callie getting lessons from Mark. They weren't 'breaking new ground', as some people are saying, there were two other shows running at the time when c/h started that were all about lesbians and abc was trying to compete with that.
