I don't have nothing against gay couples if smb is gay that is his/her choice, but I didn9t like callica because I never liked hahn-neither when she appeared as a guest star before neither in season 4 and 5 so I'm not sad or anything but I think it's not fair to brooke smith-I mean women moved her famili to L.A. and then BUM! YOU'RE FIRED! byby
and I don't know what to think about the reason-I don't think it could be because she plays a lesbian because grey's is not the only show with that subject but I don't know what else could be a reason that someone fires her so sudden and with no explanation...if she did sth if that is her fault we would find that out through tv or net or sth so I don't thnk that's possible....

Apparently Sara has walked. She's leaving in episode 15? Returning to Broadway. That's the rumour. And T.R, he was so angry after hearing that Brooke's contract had been terminated with immediate effect that he became too ill to film scenes on the last episode, hence there was hardly any scenes of him last week. I suspect he'll walk. I don't think he'll be back next season.
Very unfair to Brooke and very sad and disappointing at how ABC are so small minded and homophobic. This is the 21st century. Not the 20th and right now I'm so glad I live in an open minded country (United Kingdom) that are supportive of gay marriages and openly show gay and lesbian relationships on primetime television. With this storyline, America had come into the 21st century and made progress but now they've just gone back ten years. Well done ABC.
Brooke and Sara are stars and we should applaud them for their wonderful if brief portrayal of Callie and Erica's romantic relationship and for what they've done for the LGBT community. Best wishes for the future girls and thank you. ABC do not deserve actresses of your class.

regardless of whether of not you were a fan of erica, this is just wrong. this show is getting kind of ridiculous and i think abc is losing sight of what television is all about. pleasing the fans and giving them interesting entertainment should be the ultimate goal, and firing brooke smith so suddenly and for no apparent reason is just an awful decision when she has such a fan base...
i dont see how firing her is going to give them any financial gain, so its obviously not for the money. i love greys anatomy and i will watch it to the end, but abc's reputation is definitely tainted in my eyes now...
ABC is collapsing in on themselves; they've become a living contradiction.
ABC claims they didn't fire Brooke Smith because of her gay character, and claim it was because they didn't like her character. Which is it? Did you not like Erica Hahn because she foiled the egos of characters or did you not like Erica Hahn because she was gay? Either way ABC is in the wrong and their rationale unjustified.
If you don't like where the character is at, do some re-writing. They've done a major overhaul with multiple characters: look at Addison who was hostile in her first season or Callie who was the "freak" and completely ostracized.
You don't stop writing a character because you don't like her--you stop writing a character because you have to smother a fire before it gets out of control.
You don't fire an actress because she agrees to fight for a cause she believes in--you fire an actress because she fights for a cause the conservative media disagrees with.
This goes above and beyond Grey's Anatomy losing a character and an exceptionally talented actress. (Yes, I'd like to see you pull off bitch like Brooke does. Such emotion requires more concentration than happy-go-lucky.) In fact, it has to do with the fact an actress unjustly lost her job because she saw the opportunity to further equality.
Brooke took on something much larger than herself: she and Sara Ramirez entered into the first fictional lesbian relationship on prime time TV. They're not the young, hot blondes that sneak a passionate kiss in the locker room, they were curvaceous, middle-aged women that represented the real physique of America's female. They saw an opportunity to give a voice to those who didn't have one--who knew they would be stripped of their security?
Let's put are biases aside--the Callica fans and the non-Callica fans--there is a larger issue here: the media is stifling the voices of the writers and thus ignoring the voices of the people.
This is bigger than Erica Hahn. It's bigger than Brooke Smith, her husband, and her children. This is about you and I, and the media dictating how we view the world.

This is not good! I think Callie and Erica are both great characters. I wasn't convinced by their relationship but I find it ridiculous that the network would fire Brooke because of the lesbian relationship. I live in the UK and gay relationships are commonplace on tv, even shows which air during the day. Homosexual relationships are normal in real life, so why shouldn't these feature on tv?

This is very disappointing. I'm a straight, married, teacher, mother of two and christian, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Erica / Calli relationship! I laughed so hard when Calli opened up to Miranda about "going down south" and I thought it was very touching last week when Erica compared her relationship to Calli with needing glasses. It was good writing, and that is why I watch the show. It was refreshing to get away from the Mer/Der thing for awhile. You know, I'm not big on how promiscuous Sloan is, yet I don't think you here the homophobes discussing how slutty he is. But a loving relationship between two people of the same sex is somehow not acceptable? People need to get outside, get a gay friend and get some perspective.

I am two things right now..... gay and absolutely livid!!!! I know there are GA fans out there that didn't like Erica, she has been a bit of a bitch after all! But all the lesbian fans were rooting for Erica and Callie to make a go of it and ABC have just shafted each and every one of us!!! They posted spoilers where Shonda said the storyline would explore Callie coming out to her father etc. and we know that's not gonna happen now! I've chuckled to myself in the past when reading people's comments where they get so passionate about the characters and relationships but I didn't identify with that mentality, I wasn't passionate enough about any of it to post my own comment... until now! We know it's fictitious, we're not stupid, but us gays watch hetero couples getting together all the time - and they're usually naked like Callie&Mark, not fully clothed like Callie&Erica, how absurd was that???? - but once in a while the queer folk get something we can relate to and that makes us feel better and gives us some entertainment we can identify with. What ABC have done to GA smacks of out and out homophobia and that's why I'm livid! They could have done any number of things to alter the Callie/Erica storyline over a period of time, but to just fire Brooke Smith and have her character written out over the space of ONE episode.... I am so offended and upset, they have ruined my favourite show for me. I agree with Gail and Vicki that this sort of thing doesn't happen any more in the UK thank god. I have emailed complaints to ABC, AfterEllen and The Ellen Show, I have joined facebook groups, posted comments here and there and even signed a petition to get Brooke re-instated, that's how mad I am right now!!!!!!!! You may not like Brooke's character, you may not like the Erica/Callie relationship but you cannot deny that Brooke is a damn good actress who did not deserve to be treated this way by ABC! And if anyone's seen clips on youtube of Sara Ramirez singing you'll realise Broadway is probably where she belongs anyway, that girl is a star! Good luck to both of them. First of all: i hated Erica and thought she had no chemistry with Callie whatsoever.

Bad move ABC. 'Grey's' is a drama within a drama. No thanks... (You're lucky you have Pushing Daisies, and even that show you consider dropping altogether!) For shame! I'm going back to NBC and Tina Fey!!!
I have a feeling this is the beginning of a very steep slippery slope that will lead to the untimely unraveling of Grey's Anatomy as a top-notch drama. The firing of Brooke Smith is bad enough, but Sara leaving is an even bigger blow and if TR ends up walking too that is just going to destroy the fan base that GA built up over 4 seasons. Right now I'm finding it really hard to love the show that just a few weeks ago I couldn't get enough of. This is truly unbelievable.
