Dream sequences, fake-outs (that crazy Rose), fresh faces (Dr. Hunt!), old issues and turning over a new leaf. The Season Five premiere of Grey's Anatomy, "Dream a Little Dream of Me," which aired last night in a special Thanksgiving encore, certainly had it all.

Perhaps Katherine Heigl’s recent, pre-Emmy Awards quasi-complaint about not getting enough nomination-worthy material on Grey’s Anatomy wasn’t entirely off base.

Her character, Dr. Izzie Stevens, is sleeping with her dead lover, Denny (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), as we all know. The question is ... how does that even happen?

We'll have to wait and see, but according to Entertainment Weekly, ABC has already begun the process of "audience-testing" a love story between Izzie and Denny.

Last we checked, Shonda Rhimes wasn’t trying to create a Ghost Whisperer: Seattle, but then there isn’t a lot about Grey’s Anatomy that makes sense these days.

Actress Brooke Smith, whose Dr. Erica Hahn represented the only full-time lesbian character on the "Big Four" networks, was abruptly canned last month.

Mary McDonnell is an acclaimed and talented actress, but some have called her depiction of a renowned cardiac surgeon with Asperger’s ridiculous and unrealistic.

Add in Rhimes’ decision to have Izzie cavort with the dead, and Grey’s Anatomy has fast become this season’s most maligned show by fans (if you don’t count Heroes, that is).

It was theorized by many that Izzie's visions of Denny were related to her rumored brain tumor ... until Rhimes said last week that Izzie doesn’t have a brain tumor.

Michael Ausiello of EW has a lot of good stuff on Grey's Anatomy in his weekly spoiler Q&A today. He covers everything from the absence of George to the portrayal of Dr. Dixon, to Mark Sloan and "Little Grey" and more on Hahn's dismissal. Here goes ...

Q: Tell me more about this Grey's Anatomy-Private Practice crossover. I'm intrigued.

A: It'll take place over the course of three episodes (February 5, 12, and 19) and the only confirmed participant as of now is Kate Walsh.

Q: I didn't think Shonda Rhimes could ever come up with anything worse than Gizzie on Grey's Anatomy, but this ghost Denny business is about one episode away from officially being the worst thing the show has ever done. Please tell me it will be over soon!

A: Afraid not. Denny will be haunting Izzie at least through February. In possibly related news, the title of episode 14 is "Beat Your Heart Out." Hmmm....

So cool that they're  friends off the set (as are Katie and Justin Chambers). Now if we could only get some more George-Izzie scenes on Thursday evenings ...

Gizzie fizzled out romantically, but it's the friendship George and Izzie that has many Grey's Anatomy fans up in arms. Specifically, they're wondering where it went.

These two BFFs used to be inseparable, but we haven't seen much of them on screen lately (although hopefully "All By Myself" will reverse that trend somewhat).

Tell us how you feel about the diminishing (or at least absent) friendship between the two in our informal survey below. This online poll is unscientific, and just for fun, but still, it does provide us at least a ballpark idea of where Grey's Anatomy fan opinion lies ...

Do you miss the George-Izzie friendship?

First, a brief programming note: This Thursday, November 27, ABC will be airing "Dream a Little Dream of Me" from 9-11 p.m. This was the Season Five premiere.

Next week, the show will return with a new episode, "All By Myself."

When we learn anything about the show's upcoming TV schedule, we post it in the box on our site's right-hand sidebar. We try to update this as much as possible!
