Alex & Izzie. This is disgusting. She's right in saying he acts like a barbarian. Izzie needs to get some self-value here and walk away. So, poor wounded Alex is testing her, so poor wounded Alex is so broken he doesn't know how to treat a partner with respect. What woman has not had some phase of her life when she always wanted the jerk-guy, the wounded bird that could still love on some level and was only going to love just her and she would/could fix him??? So, you want to say it's realistic? Fine, I guess you might have something there. But I can tell you that NONE of us who have matured beyond this twisted way of seeking a relationship wants to relive it by watching our favorite characters degrade themselves the same way that we have finally learned not to.
Disgusting, Shonda, come on!
Honestly, I am a Gizzie fan. George is a million times more a better man which makes him a million times more desirable, but many didn't want Gizzie together, so you split them apart. Fine, I can accept that for now... I can accept Izzie with someone else right now-- why not try someone like Mark with Izzie? Yes, he may be a male slut, but only because he hasn't found that girl yet-- he has so much depth and so much caring and tenderness (which we have seen with his relationship w/ Der and how he has interacted with Mer at times). I'm not saying it has to be Mark, but I am saying

Writer's you had us intrigued about the mysterious Alex Karev. We were on board with that, with the idea about finding out more, seeing him evolve-- him, not Izzie fixing him or changing him.
Is this the message you want to convey-- don't give up on people? Well that's all fine and dandy but you have to give Alex something positive that makes Izzie not want to give up on him. He's been nothing but nasty. She can support him and not give up on him as a friend. I'm on board with that. But for her to spread her legs wide open (and her heart) for him while he's acting like this is simply degrading and disgusting. To Izzie. To women.
So, I know its a very strong negative opinion. Which I hate to do. So, I will end on this note-- Although I am extremely unhappy with the progression of the Alex/Izzie storyline, Greys is still my favorite show and I can't miss one minute of MerDer.

Verbal abuse is as bad as physical abuse. It kills you and your spirit completely and Alex is verbally abusive. Last week with the big hyped AI kiss, Grey didn,t even make it to the top 10 for the first time in years. People like me boycotted the episode because of the Alex and Izzie kiss. Their fans might spam the polls but the ratings are quite clear, we don't like Alex and Izzie and we will not watch as long as abusive is promoted as romance.
greysaddiction, I think you may have cracked it with your solomon like last post!!!! I asked earlier if there were a good compromise between AI and GI and I do believe you have discovered it.

Awesome prescriptions Dr. Greysaddiction! Even if it isn't Mark, perhaps your right. Could the solution be to find her someone "outside the box?" Are there any other possibilities besides Mark? Intriguing.
It sounds to me like what Gizzie fans most want, even beyond seeing Izzie with George, is to see her connect with someone who is growing rather regressing. AI fans should be able to support that concept. The basis for common ground, perhaps? I commend your addiction AND your analysis! (Shonda, are you listening? Shonda? Has anyone seen....? Well...that might be too much to hope for. But Dream a little Dream etc...

I think that Alex is progressing, he is bringing up becoming exclusive, although in his own backwards way. I don't think he wants to sleep with anyone but Izzie, but he needs to see that she wants that too. During their 2nd time together, she was just using him for sex and she has said some terrible things to Alex over the years as well.
I know that lots of G/I fans hate Alex, but just remember that although he has been a jerk lately, that isn't all he is. He has also been supportive and sweet to Izzie, Meredith, Bailey, Cristina, etc. Just like George isn't just an adulterer and Izzie isn't just an organ stealing, LVAD wire cutter. They all have good and bad qualities.

I think Alex progressed in season 3 but has been regressing in season 4 and 5. Funny how he always does that with izzie. His whole life revolves around her and that is pretty sick and not at all sane. He admits to lashing out at her and treating her like dirt because nobody else will take it and he spend the whole of last episode telling her to shut up. He is now sleeping with her and someone else at the same time. I don,t see this as growing.
The Gizzie fans want them together. We always will. They were the best couple on the show because they were equals, respected each other and loved each other unconditionnaly but like Millie said, Shonda is too much of a coward to go back there so any better guy would work. I wouldn't love them but I wouldn't hate them either.
But I still want George and Izzie to have that connection and bond they always had,. to be at least best friends, and if I don't see this connection restored, I will conti nue not watching, plain and simple.
That connection is the ONLY reason I started watching Grey in the first place so I am not watching until we get it back.
Oh and I also think Alex and Izzie kiss like siblings, which is pretty disgusting. George and Izzie's elevator kiss was a million times hotter.
i do love how many people rush to the defense of an abusive jerk like Alex but always condemn George for his every mistake. The more people excuse Alex's abusive behavior, the more I hate him. He never pays for anything. Anything Izzie told him back then, he deserved.

I agree, if Shonda does not at least give us the Gizzie friendship back, I am done with this show. My cousin quit two episodes ago when she realized Shonda was so desperate to act like George and Izzie were total strangers and make us forget them. Well we will never forget them, Shonda, but yopu continue that way and we will all forget your stupid show. See, I never saw that. I saw George being nice to Izzie, but I saw Izzie treat George condescendingly and emasculate him, even George accused her of that. She told him that he would have to crap in the yard like a dog, she ordered him to buy her tampons, she treated Callie like dirt although George asked her not to. I didn't see a great respectful love from her side.

i really don't get when gizzie fans say they saw their chemistry since the beginning...
i'm sorry, but izzie wasn't remotely into him, she would see him naked and not care at all. she lay in bed with him and not show any intent to make it anything more than too bbf talking!she'd encourage him to go out with other women (olivia, meredith!).
And in season 1 george told alex and meredith he wasn't attracted to izzie.
So i suppose they could have grow into loving each other, though i find it pretty unrealistic. but i really don't see how you can say they've been attracted since the show started.
Anyway, not being a gizzie nor an ai fan, i think i can be impartial when i say that everyone's making way to big of a deal about this!It's show, obviously the writers aren't making any kind of personal attack!
And seriously there're way too many things in the world worth getting upset about and a fictional romance shouldn't be one of them!
A really like the show but it's entertainment and it should stay that way.

Yeah, Andrea. If you haven't seen Grey's Anatomy, Meredith once says something about Cristina's wedding "I need to believe in it, because it restores my faith in me.". I relate to AI because it is the kind of relationship there is always between many people. I am not obcessive, I watch Grey's Anatomy, I like it, I have a great memory and I capture many of the things they say and do. But I like more Grey's Anatomy than any couple in the show. And quiting to the show because Gizzie's no longer together, c'mon.. I watch the show because of the medical things in it... Everything else is a bonus. I really like AI... It's the best, more realistic couple in the serie. Gizzie are like brother and sister, I really like their friendship... And the sex: a mistake, just that. And I really thought that wouldn't mean anything... But, even though I didn't like watching Gizzie as a couple, I kept watching the show... Because I liked it... But when Alex said "You told you weren't ready and now you tell me [that she slept with O'Malley] like I was one of your chick friends?" That rebembered me that Alex was yet in love with Izzie... And Izzie wasn't that in love with George. She never was... Everyone sometime in their life are confused if they like or not their best friend... But there's always someone there... The other guy. The Alex.
I DON'T WANT TO MAKE ANY OF GIZZIE FANS ANGRY. THIS IS JUST MY OPINION, DON'T TAKE IT PERSONALY.
And I need to believe in AI, or I can't believe that after all, my jerk is a good guy.

Izzie encouraged George to go after Olivia. Did I miss something? She kept attacking Olivia, made jokes about George's imaginary girlfriend and teased him mercilessly (something I did when I had a secret crush on a guy) and later told George she only encouraged him to go afetr Mer because she knew it would never go anywhere. She was jealous in season 1 when George took out a condom to take Olivia out. She had that total jealous look in her eyes. She was jealous of George and Callie from day 1. The divorce lawyer actually thought they were married and that George had cheated on her. She talked about George all the time. She ahd a whole convo with Denny just about George. Did you miss all this or were you not paying atetntion? They joked about doing each other and flirted in episode 2.6. Do you joke with your brother about him sexing you up? Because if so, go into some therapy.
And what George and Izzie friendship? Are you seeing a George and Izzie friendship on your screen now? Because I am not.
PS: Alex and Izzie sure kissed like siblings last episode and she kissed him like his mom on the finale. Talk about incest.

but i still maintain my previous opinion which is: i never saw any indication of any kind of physical attraction between george and izzie.
seriously, you have a secret crush on a guy, you see him naked and your reaction is to yell at him about tampons? seriously?
sure they joked and teased each other, but i always saw that as evidence of a great friendship, nothing else! to me, they were to regular bffs who just happened to be from opposite sexes.
plus, i never said they were like brother and sister (first of all they don't even no each other long!
alex and izzie, and don't get me wrong i'm not liking their storyline either, but you can't say any of the couples kiss like siblings!i mean, since when do normal siblings french kiss!you may not think they've chemistry but that's not the same thing as saying they kiss like sibling.
anyway, this is a tv show, it's not an exact science, so obviously ppl are going to have different interpretations of the storylines. and my personal interpretation of gizzie's storyline is that it was forced and unrealistic.
plus, ppl are also going to like different storylines, i'm sure there are some storylines i liked and gizzie's fans didn't. it's not that big of a deal!
it's a huge fan base you can't possibly please everyone!

It is a big deal when the haters cost you a story you were rooting for since the beginning. We never even got a chance with Gizzie because the haters whined so loud, and now their friendship has been trashed to boot.
I married my best friend and I can tell you it wasn't instant lust. It took me about 2 years to develop an attraction to him but 10 yars later, I am still with him and totally in love and in lust with him. The guys I was in instant lust with, well they are long forgotten.
Insta-lust usually fades very fast. Instant connection like Gizzie had does not.
I knwo exactly when she got attracted to him. When she saw him naked in Callie's room after his dad died. She had never really seen him naked, just saw his behind while passing through the room but she had never seen him completely naked, and thatw as obvious when she became beet red while seeing George completely naked and her eyes got huge. She obviously really really liked what she saw by her redness and cheekly flirty smile.
She saw him for the first time that day and she liked what she saw, and later he gave her the best sex of her life (her words).
I also remember Izzie saying she could live without the sex but not without George and that is true love. I wonder if she could go without sex with Alex. I doubt it. She doesn't love him that much.

I married my best friend and I can tell you it wasn't instant lust. It took me about 2 years to develop an attraction to him but 10 yars later, I am still with him and totally in love and in lust with him. The guys I was in instant lust with, well they are long forgotten.
Insta-lust usually fades very fast. Instant connection like Gizzie had does not.
I knwo exactly when she got attracted to him. When she saw him naked in Callie's room after his dad died. She had never really seen him naked, just saw his behind while passing through the room but she had never seen him completely naked, and thatw as obvious when she became beet red while seeing George completely naked and her eyes got huge. She obviously really really liked what she saw by her redness and cheekly flirty smile.
She saw him for the first time that day and she liked what she saw, and later he gave her the best sex of her life (her words).
I also remember Izzie saying she could live without the sex but not without George and that is true love. I wonder if she could go without sex with Alex. I doubt it. She doesn't love him that much.
