Melissa George to Play Spoiler For Callie-Erica?
The relationship between Callie and Erica took a back seat for much of this week's premiere, but the exchange at the end hinted at good things to come.
That is, unless a certain ex-Alias vixen has something to say about it.
Melissa George is in final negotiations to join the Grey's Anatomy cast as an intern with, an, um open mind. Or so Entertainment Weekly reports.
Michael Ausiello indicates that she's being groomed as a love interest for either Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) or Dr. Erica Hahn (Brooke Smith).
Rumor has it that Shonda Rhimes was so enamored with Melissa George that she tweaked her initial plans for the role - which reportedly involved her being a patient in just one episode.
It will be interesting to see if this has long-term potential.
The probable hiring caps a busy couple of weeks for Grey's Anatomy casting department - The L Word's Janina Gavankar and newcomer Brandon Scott will both be new interns and Battlestar Galactica's inimitable Mary McDonnell is on board, too.

Ah lads come on - will you at least let Callica get off the ground before you bring in someone to ruin it. I mean I love Melissa George dont get me wrong - I remember her as Angel in Home & Away. But I want to see much more of Brooke & Sara together - they are brilliant!!

Ahhh I love Melissa George, loved her in Alias (though wasnt a fan of her characters hook-up) but she will rock in this!

c'mooon! in the season premiere callie said she turned lesbian especially for erica and vice-versa... and now they're lusting after female interns? makes no sence! and besides, if any new characters, they should be looking for someone to play the new ob/gyn attending(I want an ob/gyn attending so badly!)

I read this article and posted a response on Shonda Rhimes' blog. Here's what I wrote:
"Please tell me the rumor of Melissa George breaking up Callica isn't true! Shonda, you've made tremendous strides getting the public to accept (or begin to accept) their relationship only cause it to crash in a downward spiral. I can't stress enough how detrimental this will be to The Cause.
PLEASE reconsider. If anything allow for Melissa George to be a test of their fidelity to one another and prove that women can be involved in committed, lasting relationships. All other portrayals of female relationships are finite and volatile-just look at The L Word. Writers search for conflict and plot but fail to realize they're contributing to a stigma and stereotypes that women can't be committed for anything more than a few dates.
You're making this too involved for the public to maintain believability. These two women are acknowledging who they are, have yet to discern what's going on, and yet will chase after another woman? There comes a time when ideas become farfetched
I've been loyal from season 1--through the prosperous times and tumultuous times--but destroying something that benefits the Gay/Lesbian/Bi community of the United States because you're enamored by an actress will certainly strip me of my allegiance. I'm begging you, don't do it! Develop the relationship of Callie and Erica, add the twists if you need numbers and ratings, but don't inaccurately portray the reality of the Gay community because you wield a powerful pen."

I'm with the others- give Callica a chance to get off the ground. Geez, they've kissed twice and we're already throwing in someone else?? Wait until at least 1/2way through the season at least . . . please?!?!!?!

I love Callica like everyone else but the spoilers are saying that Shonda likes Melissa and wants to put her in but we have to realize that they have already shot 9 episodes......so it may already be half way through the season before we see her....and if Callie and Erica are going strong when this new chick enters shame on Shonda!

I think Callie and Mark will get together. I think he realizes his feelings from seeing her with Hahn. And I think Hahn ends up with intern girl, but I'm just guessing.

If they put Callie with Mark and Erica with new girl, that would SUCK. I know this is a drama, and they make things difficult for people, but really, can't we have a full on relationship, let them go for awhile, then give them difficulties (like coming out to family, etc.), and have them dealing with that as drama, and NOT making them break up or whatever!! COME ON!!!

I think this is soo unfair for Callica. Please shonda gives them time to be together. This love is more stronger then nobody can separate them.
I hope Melissa George only be a distraction for them, but her relationship is more stronger then "the new intern"

OMG I can't believe this. We don't need a new person right now. Callie and Erica are just beginning to fall for each other. They know they care about each other and this is all new and exciting. Please don't mess it up with. (As my brother says. A wrong fag. His words not mine.) LOL!!! She might be hot, but not as hot as the girls right now. So please if you have to take a break and rewrite this. LOL!!! PLEASE!!! Give the "Mc Yummies" a chance. We love them together!!!!

They are screwing this show up so bad. I am really pissed. The only good relationship that they had, they had to go and get rid of. They didn't even give the girls time to fall in love. I've heard it rumored that Callie is going to be the next to go. When this happens, I will not watch Grey's anymore.
