It's too early to tell for sure, but at least from the spoilers and news we've read, Season 5 of Grey’s Anatomy is shaping up like a total love-fest.
First and foremost, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) are finally moving in together — to the delight of millions of viewers.
But don’t count on them walking down the aisle soon.
“Wouldn’t a wedding be too predictable?” Pompeo asks, rhetorically, in the new issue of TV Guide. “Would Meredith even wear a wedding dress?”
A fair question. But even without a wedding, the on-again, off-again couple will take a break from the breaking up and finally get a chance to explore life after “happily ever after,” says creator / producer Shonda Rhimes.
“The first three episodes start the dynamic of where we are all going,” Rhimes tells TV Guide. “Meredith is trusting him and moving forward cautiously, and Derek is waiting there, saying, ‘I’m here to support you.’”
Just for kicks, how would a Mer-Der wedding look?
“Cristina would come to Vegas with Meredith and Derek,” Ellen Pompeo said. “Then I’d leave her at the slot machines and go get hitched.”

“Izzie’s got a love story — and it’s a big one, one that I’ve been kicking around in my head for a bit, one that required me to take a huge leap of faith in myself, one that is so secret that I have not told anyone. Not the writers, not anyone,” Rhimes says of the character played by Katherine Heigl.
As for Callie-Erica? And the always-conflicted George? Shonda says ...
“George (T.R. Knight) and Lexie’s (Chyler Leigh) love story is going to take an incredibly unexpected turn. Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Erica (Brooke Smith) have a love story of their own. And, yes, it includes Mark (Eric Dane).”
Lastly, Sandra Oh’s character, Cristina Yang, is finally moving past ex-fiancé Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington), who left the show after season three.
“She’s been alone for a whole season,” Rhimes says. “That’s going to change. See, there’s this military guy who ... well, you have to watch to find out."

As long as Meredith and Derek are together.....they can take as long as they need to get married....let Meredith work through her mommy, daddy, and commitment issues. As long as her and Derek are together, everything will be ok.
As for Izzie....I hope they continue with her and Alex. They've always had this chemistry and he was pissed when she was with George. He wanted her and she said she wasnt ready and then she slept with George. They're meant to be.
George and Lexie.....I think they'd be cute together....
Cristina....about damn time she found someone....I understand she was left at the altar and that does suck, but this is Cristina....she shouldn't mope like this....it's just not her....and Kevin McKidd is a sweet actor....saw him in Made of Honor with Patrick Dempsey....
I cannot wait for the new season.....it can't come soon enough

I seriously hate Alex and Izzie. She rejected him not because she wasn,t ready but because Alex was never more than sex for her and she lOVED george. I will ALWAYS root for Gizzie to be together. I know it won,t happen right away so I am not against some Gexie action, way better than Mark and Lexie, she looks like his kid, so gross, but I will never accept Alex and Izzie. They are destructive and have no chemistry and I will quit if they get together.

I totally forgot about Mark....I hope he finds someone too....even though he's mcsteamy and loves him some sex, he deserves to be in love......
And theres always room for alex and izzie to grow....his intimacy issues stem from his dark and twisty past and I think he truly loves Izzie, he just doesn't know how to say it or respond to his feelings.
I also forgot about Callie and Erica....personally, I don't like Callie being with Erica....I think she and Mark fit together more....but that's just my personal opinion

Ah... Let's not forget that when Izzie really wanted Alex, he was ... well, too busy... I LOVE the Alex / Izzie chemistry - it's so back and forth with them, it would be great to see it go forward... There's a lot of sexual and other tension between them. Gizzie was a mistake - but George & Lexie? Eh... Lexie & McSteamy, eh... And I agree with rentaholic07 - Erica & Callie, eh - MARK & Callie -- oooh la la!! or... Bring in some "new meat" for the Man Whore :o)
