Grey's Anatomy Guest Star News: Kevin McKidd

Could another hot doctor be scrubbing in at Seattle Grace in Season Five?

It looks possible, as Kevin McKidd, a Scottish actor who headlined last year's time-traveling drama Journeyman, is in serious talks to join the cast.

Kevin McKidd

He'd play an M.D. who comes to the hospital after a stint in Iraq. It's expected to be a relatively long Grey's Anatomy story arc for Kevin McKidd, who also played the soldier Lucius Vorenus in HBO's short-lived series Rome.

Grey's Anatomy Caption Contest Moving to Friday

In an effort to increase participation and exposure of the Grey's Anatomy Caption Contest, we are moving the traditional feature to Friday.

With the show airing Thursday, and weekends slowest as far as news goes, we feel this makes the most sense. Hope you don't mind. Therefore, the current contest's winner, and the new edition, will be posted Friday, July 11.

Patrick Dempsey: Off to the Races

Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey showed off his handsomeness, er, atuo racing stills at the Rolex Grand-Am Series Brumos Porsche 250 at Daytona International Speedway at Daytona Beach, Florida on Thursday afternoon.

Patrick Dempsey, 42, has been racing in his No. 40 Hyper Sport Mazda RX-8 and loving it, saying, “It allows the athletic side of my nature to come out. It’s such a nice departure from Los Angeles and Hollywood."

Off to the Races
The racing enthusiast actually likens his hobby to Grey's Anatomy.

“The situational awareness is basically the same,” Patrick Dempsey said.

“In acting, you have to be aware of the camera. You have to have a sense of situational awareness, of what’s going on in front of you, what’s going on in behind you. There’s aggression and you have to be in control.”

Four Grey's Anatomy Stars Under Emmy Consideration

Nothing is official yet, but our research has determined that four Grey's Anatomy stars are being considered for Emmy Awards this year, with the finalists (five are nominated per category) to be officially announced soon.

Among 10 semifinalists in their respective categories are Patrick Dempsey (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama), T.R. Knight (Outstanding Supporting Actor), and a pair of mainstays in Chandra Wilson and Sandra Oh (Outstanding Supporting Actress).

Dr. O

T.R. Knight is one of four Grey's Anatomy stars in the running.

All are certainly worthy, and we would hope included on the lists of five finalists in these difficult races. Of the Grey's Anatomy stars not being considered, we would say Ellen Pompeo's omission is the most surprising. She has been so good.

Either Ellen or Katherine Heigl. Just kidding.

On a side note, rumor has it (this has not been confirmed), that Grey's Anatomy is on the bubble as far as earning a place among the five nominees for Outstanding Drama series. We will let you know when we hear for sure.

All Smiles: T.R. Knight and Boyfriend

Grey's Anatomy star T.R. Knight and Mark Cornelsen, his boyfriend of a few months now, shared a laugh and a smile while out and about in the trendy Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon...

T.R. is rumored to be a semifinalist for an Emmy Award again this year for his portrayal of George O'Malley. We'll keep you posted when we hear for sure!

Screen Actors Guild Hopes to Avoid Strike Redux

Potentially bad news: the media buzz is about the pending actors' strike, so we hope you enjoyed your few months of new flicks and fresh TV.

If the Screen Actors Guild strikes and our favorite stars walk, you can say goodbye to new fare on the screen. The only place you'll be able to see A-listers like Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo will be the picket line.

To clarify, it's still possible to avert the strike. But we've already seen what happened to Grey's Anatomy the last time, with the WGA Strike.

On one side of the bargaining table is the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. On the other: the Screen Actors Guild.

Super Sandra

Will stars like Sandra Oh be involved in yet another work stoppage?

The issue at hand is once again money - residual payments for DVD sales, reimbursements for work-related trips and fees for Internet content.

Without an agreement, Hollywood's actors have two options: work without a contract or strike. Of course, in order to strike, the guild needs a 75 percent authorization vote, a process that may take up to three weeks.

Will this be a rerun of the 2007-2008 writers' strike that delayed last season's production of Grey's Anatomy and all our other favorite shows?
