Patrick Dempsey: On the Move

Patrick Dempsey may need his signature fragrance after working up a sweat! The Grey's Anatomy leading man looked very colorful - and handsome - riding his bike through the streets of Los Angeles' posh Brentwood neighborhood ...

An avid cyclist, Patrick Dempsey is always on the move!

Patrick Dempsey Unveils Signature Fragrance

If you’ve been itching to get your hands on Patrick Dempsey’s new fragrance with Avon, your wait is finally over. And if you didn't even know there was a Patrick Dempsey scent coming on the market ... well, now you totally do!

At this week’s launch event in Manhattan, the Grey’s Anatomy star unveiled "Unscripted," his signature scent, containing notes of such things such as cardamom, black pepper corns, figs and lavender. Sounds like it smells good!

Patrick Dempsey Fragrance

You may never look as good as Grey's Anatomy's Patrick Dempsey, but with this the product he released late last week, you can certainly smell just like him!

The actor, whose makeup-artist wife, Jillian Dempsey, serves as Avon’s global creative color director, said he wanted to create a scent that was “classic but still clean, elegant and modern without it being too overwhelming.”

Somehow we imagine Patrick will be successful! Although "McDreamy" also would have been a good name for the product, don't you think?

Trio of Guest Stars Lined Up For Season 5 Opener

Dr. Bailey and the gang — but mainly Bailey — will have their hands full in the two-hour Grey's Anatomy Season Five premiere, TV Guide reports.

Why? A trio of gal pals of a certain age descends on Seattle Grace.

In the September 25 episode, Bernadette Peters, Mariette Hartley and Kathy Baker will guest star as friends who each require the hospital's care.

This comes the very same night that Jeffrey Dean Morgan reprises his role of Denny Duquette, although our guess is that is a separate story line.

Shonda Rhimes' Plans For Callie and Erica

At the Television Critics Association press tour last week, Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes was questioned about various aspects of the show and its upcoming Season Five, and the topic on so many people's minds is the potential romantic relationship between Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) and Dr. Erica Hahn (Brooke Smith).

Her answers, while vague on plot details, nonetheless confirm that there will be a romantic relationship between Callie and Erica.

"We have a really interesting, wonderful, funny way of laying out the story of Callie and Erica that I'm pretty excited about, that I feel like is not necessarily your typical — if there can be a typical — your typical way of dealing with the storyline," Rhimes said.

A Shonda Rhimes Picture

While developing this Grey's Anatomy story, Shonda consulted GLAAD, who brought in openly gay writer-producers Nikki Weiss and Trish Doolan.

Their job? Answer questions about how they identified themselves (as lebian or bi), when were they first aware of their attraction to a woman, and if they ever slept with a man to prove to themselves that they weren't gay.

"What I love about this is we sat down with GLAAD and talked about women who figure out that they're lesbians later in life and what it means for them," Shonda Rhimes said.

"And we really were able to find some really great, humorous and serious emotional stuff to play that's going to feel really interesting and also affect their lives in the hospital."Continue Reading...

Who's More Deserving: Sandra Oh or Chandra Wilson?

With all the hype about Katherine Heigl and the Emmys, it is easy to forget that Grey's Anatomy has two Outstanding Supporting Actress contenders who did submit their names for consideration - and both are certainly worthy of the honor.

Unfortunately, there can only be one winner.

If forced to choose, which Grey's Anatomy star do you think most deserves an Emmy - Chandra Wilson or Sandra Oh? We're putting up a new poll about this, but feel free to leave a comment if you want to expound on your reasoning.

Sandra and Chandra

Both Grey's Anatomy stars are finalists at the Emmy Awards (September 21).

Vintage Grey's Anatomy

We came across this yesterday and thought you might enjoy it - an original promotional poster for Grey's Anatomy when it debuted in March 2005 as a mid-season replacement for Boston Legal. Boy, Season One feels like forever ago now!

Who knew what started out with little fanfare in a nine-episode run that spring would become such a hit. Note the tagline "Operations. Temptations. Frustrations." This is interesting as Complications was a working title for the pilot at one point.

Insider Note: Grey's Anatomy TV Schedule Box

Greetings, Grey's Anatomy fans. We receive so many questions regarding when the show will next be broadcast that we decided to make our Grey's Anatomy TV Schedule box a permanent fixture on Grey's Anatomy Insider.

It appears in the left sidebar alongside our blog, and will always be on our homepage as well as any other page on Grey's Anatomy Insider.

We will update this page as we learn which episodes will be aired and when. If you like, we can also include repeats on Lifetime. For now, we have listed only the upcoming repeats (and the Season Five premiere) on ABC.

Life is Good

This Patrick Dempsey picture has absolutely no bearing on the site update we've just told you about. We decided to post it just because. Hope you don't object.

A Grey Area: In Defense of Katherine Heigl

Could there be a worse career move for an actress than telling the truth? Mark Harris of Entertainment Weekly takes a look at the strange case of loquacious Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl and is wondering this very question.

Heigl, 29, who won an Outstanding Supporting Actress Emmy Award last fall for Grey's Anatomy, is not among this year's nominees. We all know why.

But given the controversy caused by her decision to exclude herself from contention this time around, you'd think she had beaten up Dakota Fanning.

This was hardly the first time that Katherine Heigl's outspokenness has burned bridges or landed her in the middle of some kind of public squabbling.

Her contract negotiations with ABC went public, she chided Judd Apatow over Knocked Up, and then there was the whole Isaiah Washington situation.

Best Supporting Actress!

Plenty of people have said she should keep her mouth shut, be more modest, go to work, like it, and act like basically every other celebrity.

But do we really want our stars to be that boring? Is her honesty really such a terrible thing? Is Heigl's uniquely outspoken nature a drawback?

Grey's Anatomy Rumors: Jeffrey Dean Morgan Style

Popular guest star Jeffrey Dean Morgan is on his way back to Grey's Anatomy. That much has been confirmed - but when, why, and how?

Is Grey's Anatomy really going to kill Izzie, as has been rumored frequently, with Denny resurfacing to welcome her to the afterlife? Not likely.

For starters, at least one inside source says there are no plans to off Izzie as a means of punishing outspoken cast member Katherine Heigl.

Second, Morgan already filmed his scenes, which are to air in the season premiere, so the timing is wrong for this stunning development.

But ABC Entertainment chief Steve McPherson issued vague denials of a plan to eliminate Izzie, and another insider says that the rumored brain tumor contracted by Dr. Stevens was indeed the plan for Heigl's character in Season Five.

After her diagnosis, Izzie was to see “visions” of Denny.

JDM

Of course, if that was (or is) the plan, Shonda Rhimes may change it since the word is out. She’s not a fan of Grey's Anatomy spoilers (with the exception of her giving away the Mer-Der reunion at the end of Season 4 weeks beforehand).

A few seasons back, E! Online reported that Cristina Yang was to have a lesbian storyline. That plan? Scrapped, then revamped (much) later in the form of Callica.

The conclusion is that we're stumped. Morgan's casting confirmation lends credence to the notion that the brain tumor plot could still happen, but the reports we're hearing the subject are conflicting and far from set in stone.

What do you think of Jeffrey Dean Morgan returning to Grey’s Anatomy - and is the brain tumor a good idea? Tell us what you think - and hope.
