Grey's Anatomy Rumors: Jeffrey Dean Morgan Style
Popular guest star Jeffrey Dean Morgan is on his way back to Grey's Anatomy. That much has been confirmed - but when, why, and how?
Is Grey's Anatomy really going to kill Izzie, as has been rumored frequently, with Denny resurfacing to welcome her to the afterlife? Not likely.
For starters, at least one inside source says there are no plans to off Izzie as a means of punishing outspoken cast member Katherine Heigl.
Second, Morgan already filmed his scenes, which are to air in the season premiere, so the timing is wrong for this stunning development.
But ABC Entertainment chief Steve McPherson issued vague denials of a plan to eliminate Izzie, and another insider says that the rumored brain tumor contracted by Dr. Stevens was indeed the plan for Heigl's character in Season Five.
After her diagnosis, Izzie was to see “visions” of Denny.
Of course, if that was (or is) the plan, Shonda Rhimes may change it since the word is out. She’s not a fan of Grey's Anatomy spoilers (with the exception of her giving away the Mer-Der reunion at the end of Season 4 weeks beforehand).
A few seasons back, E! Online reported that Cristina Yang was to have a lesbian storyline. That plan? Scrapped, then revamped (much) later in the form of Callica.
The conclusion is that we're stumped. Morgan's casting confirmation lends credence to the notion that the brain tumor plot could still happen, but the reports we're hearing the subject are conflicting and far from set in stone.

I think there is a strong possibility that Izzie will have a brain tumor and that MerDer will treat her in their clinical protocol. Perhaps they will have to work together to develop a new virus to treat Izzie's specific tumor. And it will ultimately be successful, making more medical history for them and further foreshadowing their ultimate success long term as a couple.

Well after the season finale I had a feeling that something is going to happen with Derek as he just left like that to tell Rose about him and Meredith, so maybe he'll have an accident which may explain the return of Jeffrey Dean Morgan...

Hmmm...hard to say what will happen. We are still a few months away for a promo. Well maybe a promo within the next month and a half? anyways I dont think it will have anything to do with izzie having a brain tumor and denny showing up. My guess is that he appears in a flashback of some sort. One way or the other i still cannot wait for denny to show up again. he rules!

I know that we have been told that Season 5 starts a few weeks after Season 4. But that doesn't rule out the possibility of flashbacks. Maybe Denny's involvement comes in the form of a flashback of him and Izzie or even him and Alex. Remember Alex was the person who was able to get through to Izzie after Denny's death and held her as she cried. He certainly understands loss. Maybe underneath all of his bad attitude Denny sensed that...and talked to him about Izzie.

I am just extremely happy that Denny is coming back. As long as he keeps coming back, and has scenes with Izzie - I'll be happy.

OMG if something happens to Derek it's going to be the best season ever! It's not that I don't LOVE McDreamy, it's just that he's been suffering for so long for Mer and the clinical trial almost killed his ego. Maybe he ended up with an accident to the heart (that could bring Burk back! lol) or anything that led him to his afterlife, and there he met Denny. Remember what Denny said to Mer when she was about to give up on her life? He told her Derek was one of the kind, so he really knows how precious this love between Mer and Der is. So when Derek was about to give up on his life, Denny would certainly be the best person to talk him back to his hope. Ah.......I can't wait to see what happens next!!!!!!

Okay, this is what is going to happen. First Izzie will have a brain tumor on some part of her brain that makes her have visions of Denny, that aren't real. Or she will have a tumor that has to be treated by Meredith's new method. While under she will have visions of Denny, which will probably be some kind of story arch because it will start at the end of the show. Or after the surgery is done, she will fall in to a coma like so many of the other clinical trial members, and she will see Denny there, with a story arch there. This is what will happen. Or maybe this article is right and Shonda Rhimes has no intention of giving Izzie a brain tumor. But the only way to see Denny in these episodes is definitely for her to have a neurocognitive problem. Or maybe it has nothing to do with Izzie. I just hope that this takes place in the beginning or middle of the season. It might, considering he has already shot his episodes. But since Izzie has such a wonderful story line this season, it will probably be at the end. Shonda might film episodes backwards, just like she wrote them. I can't wait!!

I think that Izzie is the one who is getting pregnant (with Alex'Baby)and she sees Denny either in flashbacks or in dreams because she might have the feeling that being with Alex is like a betrayal to Denny.
It has been told that smbdy who made out in season 4 final would be pregnant in season 5. It can't be Adèé, I don't think it's Mer and between Callie and Izzie, I'd rather think it's Izzie. Because Shonda said that Alex/Izzie kiss was the major kiss in Season 4 Final and Izzie has a major story line in seaon 5. Besides, Katherine Heigl has told that she wanted a baby and she might well be pregnant for real within a few months. They might have anticipated that. They could also go for pregnancy + brain tumor...

As my name says I do love Greys, but am I the only one who thinks that bringing dead characters back by flashback or other means is not the way forward.
I for one want to see the main cast moving forward with their lives and careers, either with new characters or those already in the show. Jeffery Dean Morgan was fantastic as Denny, but he and Izzie had no life outside of the hospital, so what else can they bring to the story that we didn't see in S2?

I think bringing Denny back via flashbacks is a great idea. Izzie has never gotten over him and since her character has become so boring, this might be what she needs to spice things up. Her having a brain tumor is also an interesting twist. I don't think bringing Denny back keeps the show from moving forward. It'll make a good storyline for Izzie at this point. I'm just glad it's Denny!! It really broke my heart when he died and I'm always glad to see that sweet, handsome hunk anytime!!! I can hardly wait for September 25th! I LOVE MY GREY'S ANATOMY!!!!!!!

ok, denny coming back is a good thing, but the brain tumor not so much. yes izzie needs a stronger storyline this season, but why a brain tumor? why can't she just have flashbacks? because she is obviously not over him yet. i guess we have to wait until september 25 to find out

i think Denny coming back might have something to do with Baily giving Izzie the clinic. since the clinic is named after Denny and it was his money that formed the clinic... they might show him in relationship with that.

celeste34- the only problem with izzie being pregnant is that alex kinda just went through that storyline with ava about how he thought she was pregnant and then if they make izzie die, i don't think shonda would put alex's character through even more pain then he has already encountered between his childhood and the last couple episodes of season 4 with the ava storyline

just bring denny (jdm) back! i don't care how, just want to see him back. he's the only reason why i'm watching grey's.and when he left izzie, her life was a mess in season 3. so, i think u should bring him back to izzie's life to spice her up! jeffrey dean morgan is simply the hottest guy grey's anatomy ever had!

The return of Denny Duquette is one of the big reasons I am desperately waiting for the 5th season. Now the fact that he'll be back in the pilot just makes it better.
About Izzie, If she has to get a tumor so that JDM can be back to the show (via visions), so be it. Hehehe.. Getting tumor may be a great role for her to play. I agree very much with this idea. It's nice to see Izzie sick, once in a while :D I mean, we've seen meredith and cristina getting sick before. Hahaha
If Shonda decides to change the tumor storyline, I hope she doesn't eliminate JDM entirely. That's what I want to say regarding Jeffrey.

Wasn't the "confirmed rumor" that Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the actor, was returning ? i.e. not necessarily the character of Denny..
What if someone who looks like Denny walks into the storyline- shakes things up because of his resemblance to Denny- but is not Denny.
(I'm just in Alex's corner, see--)

I'm ALEXEEZZIE fan but it would be nice to have a twin brother for Denny who falls in love with Izzie But maybe Izzie finally open her eyes and choose Alex it's way over due.I think I would probably stop watching if they kill off Izzie.

i agree with cat, thats my feeling but i just want deny on the show, i don´t care how. i miss him so much! i want him back! i wanna see him with izzie.
it will be better a twin brother that doesn´t die haha and stay in the show
deny is the reason i watch grey´s anatomy, the second season has been the best season. the other seasons aren´t as good

My dream is to see Rose and Mcdreamy REALLY get together.
He is dreamy and Rose has a real wild side, that I think, "seen" with him would be incredible! Don't let that sweetness fool you and she is gorgeous.and so young.

I'm like everyone that says "just bring Denny back!" I would love to see him come on the show as a new dr. His smile is amazing and he is so hot! I hope that Izzy doesn't have a brain tumor just to get Denny on only for him to leave once this tumor is removed. I've never been crazy about Alex.
