Another thing that annoys me, everyone comparing her situation with Isaiah Washington's, and that she should keep her mouth shut. This is apples and oranges. Isaiah called someone a derogatory word, and then later lied about it. Katherine simply said that the role she was playing this season was not Emmy worthy because the writers simply did not give her a great storyline. It is an insult to compair the two.

  2. Yolanda Says:

I think the show could survive without her. The character of Lexie could easily fill the void left by Izzie.

  3. pesal Says:

i like act..please don't make this decision...i love your acting....

  4. kasie Says:

Again i agree with ya'll on some parts....it wouldnt be the same without the oringal interns....BUT SHE SHOULD OF KEPT HER MOUTH SHUT!.......(SERIOUSLY!!!!-Quote Izzie Stevens) listen to your own script lol

Hey, can someon answer me this question honestly? Let's say, Eric Dane, {and I am not bashing him, I absolutley love him on the show}, made the same comment as Katherine Heigel, about withdrawing his name for the Emmys. Do you think he would get the same public flogging has Katherine? Think about it. Does he really truley have a very dramatic role for a drama? He play's a sleazy character and is often very funny and Eric does a wonderful job playing the character. I wouldn't call his performance this season Emmy-worthy. I would for Justin Chambers performance in the season 4 finale. Eric was not given the materials that Justin was to have that "moment" in the show. Same thing with Katherine this season. She was religated to saving a freaking deer. Where as Chandra did a beautiful job during the storyline about her marriage crumbling. That is what Katherine means about not getting the material for an Emmy worthy performance. She NEVER SAID THE WRITERS SUCKED! SHE NEVER BASHED THEM! They didn't give her the best storyline, because they gave it to someone else. This is a double standard. George Clooney became a star on ER, and he wanted to leave to persue movies, and did well, and no one said "boo" when he left. Katherine, who DID have two movies that did very well wants that opportunity and she is seen as a bitch. I think her intentions were good, but it got blown WAY out of proportions. No one has to love the girl, but I say back off. And was one who thought she was being rude at first. I had time to think about it, and I think her being honest is not a bad thing. And it is not the end of the world. Leave the girl alone.

  6. David Says:

I have no doubt George and Izzie were written as a love story. Shonda and the writers said so many many times in season 3 and said it had nothing to do with Denny. She changed her mind because some fans didn't like it, which is ridiculous as Gizzie has a HUGE fanbase that love them and have stood through them with everything even the recent farce and bs about no chemistry.

I have been on many sites and the Gizzie fans are still as active and passionate as ever.

Shonda is a coward that let the haters and critics get to her, but to me there is no doubt Gizzie loved each other.

There is no faking the way they looked at each other.

  7. Minnie Says:

The only time I was remotely interested in Izzie was when she was with George. It was and still is the most beautiful love story ever told. I hang on with the hope Shonda will put them together where they belong. Other than that, Izzie is lost with George, stumbling and putting her with Alex the abuser would be the worst character assassination ever. She would be dead to me if that happened and could leave.

  8. mellowbela Says:

I'm still pretty undecided when it comes to Heigl. Maybe 'on the fence' would be a better term.

  9. Bella Says:

Why are there so many comments so critical of Katherine Heigl speaking her mind? It is a fact that Grey's Anatomy has been brought to the ground this last season. And I say this with dissapointment because I love the show. But I think that it was too much to expect between the additional cast and the spinoff of Private Practice to keep GA fresh and interesting, as opposed to annoying and cliched. Heigl owes nothing to Grey's Anatomy. She's worked hard on the role of Izzie and now her character is a joke. Who wouldn't be upset?

  10. allaboutsloan Says:

Everybody has already said this but I am going to say it again, I think that she is just ungreatful. Does she realize how lucky she is to be getting paid very well to do something that she really enjoys? Does she realize how many people are getting paid very well for jobs that they hate? Or are getting paid not nearly enough to do the things that they love but they're doing it anyway cause it's something that they've always wanted to do and because of the small rewards that come with it?

I don't think she should leave Grey's but I think she should make a public appolgy to the writers and Shonda Rhimes. Her comment seemed to very inappropriate considering that the writters strike just ended not to long ago. I understand her being unfilter and not thinking before she speaks(I do that often) but I think that maybe after all this, and if she still wants to stay empolyed she should just think before she speaks and becareful of the things she says and does.

Oh and if Patrick can do movies durning his break, so can she. If he can make it work then she can make it work. She isn't the only one in the cast that wants to do movies or that can do movies but it seems like the others are just happy with being empolyed since being on a television show is such a gamble now a days.

    Anyway....just my thoughts.

  11. allaboutsloan Says:

Or instead of making a public apolgy to writers and Shonda, she should/could learn from this. But she should have just said taht she was withdrawing from the competition and left it at that.

  12. bb Says:

The writers gave her the George story line so she would have something to do, but I am so glad it's over. Supposedly, in real time, these people have known eachother about 18 months. in that time, Izzy had a boyfriend (the hockey play, season 1), dumped him, moved on to dating Justin Chambers character. Dumped him (he cheated) , got back together with him, dumped him for Denny, who she was going to marry. He died, and then she fell for George, AFTER he married someone else. Bad story line all the way around, but she is such a one-note actress that it's about all she can handle.

  13. Sara Says:

What the h... is she thinking!
I mean I like her work and the character of Izzie, but for God sake shut your mouth woman, or you'll loose your 200.000 follars per episode, or how much she is payed for playing on Grey's Anatomy!
I mean you don't bite the hand that feeds you, everybody knows that! Everybody with a half a brain, that is!!!
Another things, ist simply bad form an manners to critizise the show which catapulted you into stardom! Us she nutz, on pills or what?
As much as I would hate Izzie nót being a part of grey's Anatomy, I still almost want Katherine Heigl to be doing this on purpose so as to be let out of her contract, cos at least then her dumb, dumb action of taking hersould out of the Emmy nominations and critizising the show would make some sense! But as it is, what the h... are you thinking Heigl?

  14. sarah Says:

this show would suck without her!!!!
    i love KH

  15. tiff Says:

i don't really care about her anymore, i used to like her a lot but now after wat she did- meh.
im not gonna watch her movies or wateva, she should either apologise, or leave. if she thinks she's so good, then go.

  16. Devil's Advocate Says:

I'm going to look at it from Heigl's point of view because it's obvious tons of people are so against her without trying to see if there's another angle that we as the OUTSIDE world can't see. Reading this article, even the writer doesn't know why she would so stop speculating and nagging because over half of you all complaining haven't a clue either, so it's useless. I think there's nothing wrong with her removing her name if she wants to. It is her choice, they're given the choice to submit it in the first place. It's not showing arrogance or ungratefulness at all. She probably realizes that there are other actors who deserve the award more than she does, especially since she's been in the movies lately. It's not a move of pity but a move of stepping back and not being in the limelight...yet she is because people think she's ungrateful? Hardly. I think it's a misunderstanding and she's not taking the chance to clear it up, because everyone now has their extreme negative opinion about it.

  17. Sara Says:

You do have a point 'Devil's Advocate', a fitting screenname by the way, she could be doing it because she feels, that there are other actresses on Grey's Anatomy better suited and deserving of an Emmy nomination, but she still should have been more diplomatic about it thus not critizising the show which feeds her on a monthly basis and has basicaly catapulted her into stardom, and she certainly should have steped up and spoken about her reasoning a little more clearly now that she so obviousaly has been getting a unfortunate backlash! Yet of all the times she should be talking, she choses to remain silent, which is a real bad carrer move!

  18. greyslover Says:

I love Izzie in grey's, so it would be a pity if she would leave. Cuz Isaiah already left, and if she would leave too, there would be already 2 great characters gone.

I can understand that the more money all those hollywood people make, the more they want.
But Heigl must keep in mind that it is because of grey's she became this famous. It's not appropriate to say such things like she did now with the emmy awards. Come on, all those people made her famous and now she would just take advantage of it and leave behind what made her a star??
Come on Heigl, think kwice and don't disappoint the fans!!

  19. MayLine Says:

I'm becoming a bigger fan of Katherine Heigl. I just love that she speaks her mind. It does come over a bit rude and sometimes offending, but in my point of view she's right. I am a big fan of Grey's Anatomy, but I'm a little dissapointed in the way the story developed. According to me she's right not to put her name forward for the Emmy's.

  20. carisa :) Says:

i love katherine. i dont care what anyone says. i love katherine. shes an amazing actress and she better stay on the show.

    i LOVE katherine.
    shes my idol.

  21. evefreak Says:

Katherine was right to withdraw her name from Emmy nomination. The writers really didn't give her the material that would warrant a nomination. Look at how she won the last Emmy - her scenes where Izzie talks about giving her daughter up for adoption and most notably the scenes with Denny, especially the last scene on prom night. Katherine has PROVED that she can deliver when she's given the right stuff. It's not her fault that lately, the GA writers have been giving her high school drama crap with Izzie and George and she can't stretch her acting chops. Katherine was totally just in speaking out. Maybe it wasn't the best move media wise, but she was right. Her material sucked this season. To the GA writers - give Katherine a chance to once again floor audiences with writing that is more than just irritating banter between Izzie and George. Give her another scene like prom night, and we'll all see that Katherine isn't just an ego inflated actress. She's actually a GOOD actress.

  22. Brittany Adkins Says:

I think the COMA idea is stupid.. I like Katherine her character in Grey's is one of my Favorites. I love her in 27 dresses that was the best movie ever.. I really hope she stays in Grey's Anatomy the show wouldnt be the same without her...

  23. iloveder Says:

Ok so I'm thinking that Katherine has two points going in my eyes. First point: I think she was just being self-centered. I mean, she's been in MANY movie blockbusters, but Grey's got her started, and without it, she'd be just another struggling, young actress. Second point: maybe she has a slight point. I mean, Izzie had some storylines, but not as many as others. But there was a HUGE brick wall that appeared in the middle of the season. It's called a Writer's Strike, smart ones. Maybe Katherine pulled her name out of consideration because all the other characters had better, stronger storylines. Like, personally, I think Chandra Wilson deserves an Emmy. She was EXCELLENT this season. Well I think that she should stay on Grey's, and that she should learn to say what people tell her to say, and try not to make people hate her anymore. That's my two cents.

  24. MarleneDietrichFan Says:

I dont know why everyone thinks that season 4 of grey's sucked! in my opinion it was the best season and the finale was equal to that one of the season 2 finale. ok izzie as a character didnt have an interesting story line in the last couple of episodes- after she broke up woth george but.... season 4 still was great

  25. lexi Says:

i think it would be a pity if she leaves she show she is that little thign of hope and "girly" sprakle.. in the show she has an amazing character , i don't think she si ungrateful, she just msut feel bad if the writters dont give more material to work with, she can't change the script, me as anactress myself i would feels ad if such amazing chacrater doest have mroe to give, i thoguht ymaelf what the hell? what happened wqith izzie because the show didn show much on 4th season and all the show is about meredith at some point i think there is a lot fo thign writters could consider about whr alot of new dieas, the could touch the relationship she ahs with ehr mom, her daughther, and make her be abck with george because it is kind mer-der.. after all they stikc together!ª i hope she really doesnt elave the show she si the main reason i love the show and i see it .. i kind like find ymself in izzie and is an amazing way to see yourself ina tv show ... i really really hope she keeps being izzie for a long long long time
