simply because she won last year, probably had about a 90% chance of being nominated again this year, it is simply how it is. I don't think she is being out of line for stepping up and expressing her thoughts. I see it as the reality of her part being diminished in relation to the ensemble and recognizing how the emmy's work.

  2. StephRo Says:

GIVE ELLEN POMPEO AN EMMY!!!! SHE DESERVES IT!!!!!!

  3. JEnny Says:

she sounds very arrogant here, I think. what she says here is insulting to shonda and the other writers, and she should take it up with them. I actually liked the turn season four took, because it reminded me of season one and "good old days". To me, season three was depressing and gave Heigl all the great storylines, while other actors, like Pompeo, were left behind. I'm thrilled to hear that Ellen got nominated, although it was very disappointing that Sandra did not. She deserved to at least be nominated after her great speech about Burke and not being proud of him. Besides, Ellen and Sandra's characters are way more difficult to portray than Katherine's, but that's my opinion.. I must say I'm starting to not like this actress though.

  4. banpublicspeaking Says:

This is just another reason for me to dislike Heigl. There is a difference between telling the truth and being rude. She's being rude. Everything she has said could have been conveyed with grace. Which she clearly lacks. Blasting the annoucer on the emmy's not once but twice? And usually you can distinguish a character from the actor but Izzie Stevens has become whiny, manipulative, and selfish which Heigl is revealing herself to be. Yeah season 4 kind of sucked, but there was a little thing called a writer's strike that lasted forever! Most good shows had a split season. Veiwers usually don't like things like that. And I must say it, Burke. It's Burke and Christina that we are missing. They were a staple just as much as merder. Washington is an ass. but he admitted it and sought counseling. please bring him back. And find a way to turn Izzie back into that fiesty independent woman fighting her way through medical school. Cause right now. I wish she would just go away.

  5. banpublicspeaking Says:

Oh yeah, I agree! Sandra, Ellen, and Chandra definitely deserve an emmy.

  6. Jen Says:

Dude, that's way uncool. Just dis your boss and the writing staff publicly...I don't care what the writers put out, it is the job of the actor to act it out to the best of their ability. Hell, I'd love to make the money she makes. She's selfish. I honestly wish her contract would expire and she just would roll on out....

  7. judy Says:

I agree ELLEN POMPEO and SANDRA HO will nominate!

  8. MerDerAddicted Says:

It's very apparent that fame as given her a big head. Iasiah should have never been brought up period. It been said she wants out of her GA contract and they won't let her. It's starting to look like she is caring less and less about the show by her words. I wouldn't want to give someone good material with that kind of attitude.

  9. Qi Says:

FINALLY! She realizes that she couldn't be nominated because she didn't deserve to be nominated in the first place. I don't know why Ellen Pompeo or Chandra Wilson get overlooked.

  10. Grey's Fan Says:

This makes her seem rather arrogant. She comes off incredibley rude no matter how nice she tries to make it sound. In my opinion if she was nominated this year for Grey's Anatomy I honestly think she wouldn't deserve the nomination this year. There was no need for her comments to be so harsh . If your pulling out then pull out don't parade around that your material wasn't provided as best is it could have been. This year was a tough year due to the strike so that contributes alot. I believe Ellen Pompeo, Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson really deserve to be nominated.

  11. Ashley Says:

The writers are the ones that made her so famous in the first place! She shouldn't be talking bad about them just because her character wasn't in the spotlight as much as before.

  12. mer/derlover19 Says:

as much as this sounds like a total slap in the face towards shonda, the other writers, and the producers of the show, I have to stand up for katherine and say that that is probably not how she meant it all! however, if she did mean it that way then all i have to say is that while we did not see her character as much as she may have liked this season, her performances were still worthy enough in those scenes for her to deserve this emmy nomination! whatever way she meant it like her enough as an actress and love her performances on the show enough to forgive her for these statements!

    as always...
    Grey's Rules!!! SERIOUSLY!!! :)

  13. Marianne Says:

This is probably her idea of getting publicity, so next year people will care about her. LOL!

Hey, at least she gave room for Sara Ramirez to get considered. Although, I doubt she will because she isn't the others. :( But she definitely deserves one.

  14. sarah4628 Says:

While I think it's refreshing that an actor speaks out somewhat against the industry (and let's face it- the writing this season wasn't exactly perfect), I think Heigl is getting a little too comfortable on her high horse. Don't get me wrong, she's a fantastic actress, but I think she needs to swallow her pride every once and a while and accept a nomination. I love the elements Izzie adds to the show, but it seems like Heigl's gotten just a bit too comfortable with her spot on the show. It's almost as if she's trying to make people think she's "above" Grey's Anatomy, or, on a larger scale, "above" the Emmys. If there's one thing that turns me off from any celebrity, it's that kind of hubris. I too agree that she needs to heed her own advice and keep those kinds of feelings in her own mind.

  15. JoAnna Says:

    um wow. cocky much?

  16. Gabby Says:

i completely agree with Sprite. AND ellen, sandra, and chandra def need to be nominated :]

  17. Jacqueline Says:

I can see what she is talking about in regards to the writing but I think that she should have just stop at " I am not submitting my name " and left it at that

  18. kelsey Says:

So perhaps you guys are right in thinking that katherine should have waited to see if she was nominated before she withdrew, but i think that it would have been a bigger media frenzy if she had of withdrawn after the nominations were cast. not only this, but it would have caused the academy more work as they would have then had to go back and nominate someone else. i don't think that she did this to be make herself look good or to make the writers look bad; in fact when they were on strike she was behind them 100%. i just think that she is a very genuine person and she wouldn't want to take away the possibility of an actress winning the award if she really deserved it. and we all have to admit that this year Katherine's character on the show was pretty much non-existent. I mean izzy went from being one of the main starts to playing such a secondary role that half of the time she wasn't even noticed. i think the writers and producers did this in part because for the last couple of years Izzy's character has kind of been stealing the show and meredith has been left in the dust...and after all it is Grey's Anatomy...so they probably felt like they had to downplay her character a little bit. the problem is that they did so too much and she got lost in the shuffle.

  19. shawna Says:

I'm sorry, but I find this extremely rude and ungrateful. Not only is she snubbing an institution that gave her a great honour last year, but she's turning down an award she just seemed to assume they'd give her if she was considered. Furthermore, she's being downright insulting to the show that put her where she is. She's kidding herself if she thinks she'd have a career without Grey's. The sooner she's gone from the show, the better in my opinion.

  20. Lauren Says:

I understand her reasoning, but I think she went about it the wrong way. I know she's all opinionated ,which I totally respect, but in such a critical, overanalytical, catty business, you have to know where to draw the line. It's just shady to snub the writers, who work very hard and went through a long strike, in public. Anyways, on a more hopeful note, Sandra Oh and/or Ellen Pompeo really deserve an Emmy award!!!!!

  21. Carmen Says:

i see her disappearing in season five of Greys and i'm for it. she thinks she is some great actress, don't slap the hand that feeds you. She already slapped knocked up which gave her her movie career now she's slapping her tv career. She may be big now but it will be KH who in a couple of years.

  22. greysfan0128 Says:

I agree with all of the above. Heigl was being selfish, rude and should have kept her mouth shut. She was put at the forefront of Grey's for too long and now has the big head! I wouldn't be surprised, or cry many tears, if season five were her last.

  23. JEnny Says:

omg, I totally forgot to mention her in my last comment, but if somebody deserves an emmy, its got to be sara ramirez! her acting was amazing in the episode "the heart of the matter".

  24. mellowbela Says:

Dude, she is seriously making me hate her. I agree with all the posts above, she virtually slapped the writers in the face publically. I hope she leaves the show and gets forgotten.

  25. maddie Says:

I always had a bad feeling about Heigl after her comments about Isiah. The thing I loved about Pompeo, Dempsey, Oh and others were that they stayed out of the drama and let Knight and Isiah work it out. But Heigl had to get involved and say all that crap about him when she didn't even know the whole story, and it wasn't her place to say anything.
This is just another reason I can't stand her. I was honestly not surprised to hear her say this because she does not seem like a smart person. She is completely making herself seem worthy of an emmy even though she is withdrawling her name. How hard is it to simply say she is withdrawling her name from being nominated simply because she does not think she deserves it because she doesn't! I know Izzie was extremely annoying this season but I also think it was Heigl acting that was not magnificent as well. There's no need to blame the writer's who basically gave her her career and she is really putting her castmates down by implying she deserves an emmy over others like Ellen Pompeo who I've always thought has done a much better job than Heigl has ever done.
I hope Heigl leaves because I can't stand her anymore. This for me was the last straw. Her characters weak, her actings weak, let her go! She can go make her dumb romantic comedies that she ends up criticizing later anyways!
Ugh and for the record, good luck Ellen Pompeo! She should have won one last year and I hope she wins it this year. Let's let a smart, pleasant and talented actress win this year. Anyone over Heigl.
