One day after Katherine Heigl announced she would drop out of this year's Emmy race, because Grey's Anatomy did not give her material to warrant a nomination, a key show insider is fighting back against the comment,
Contacting Entertainment Weekly to address the actress' public complaint about the show, the Grey's Anatomy writer/producer was far from pleased:
"The show bent over backwards to accommodate her film schedule, and then she criticizes the show for lack of material? It's an ungrateful slap in the face to the very writers responsible for her Emmy win in the first place."
She made the comments June 12 after the star's name did not appear on the list of Emmy contenders distributed by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
The omission was especially bizarre, considering that Katherine Heigl actually won last year's award for outstanding supporting actress in a drama.
Critics jeered Heigl's performance early in the season, complaining about the romance between her character, Izzie, and George (T.R. Knight).
But the actress shined in Grey's Anatomy's Season Four finale when her character redeemed herself, as well as her career at Seattle Grace.
This isn't the first time Katherine Heigl has publicly criticized the show that helped to make her a household name, as we know.
Last year, she dropped out of salary renegotiations, reportedly because she felt the studio doesn't value her as much as it does her cohorts.
ABC fired back, insisting the Grey's Anatomy star had in fact been offered a substantial raise. Heigl has since received a salary bump.

I find myself increasingly less reluctant to accept the idea of her not being on the show anymore. If she insists on publicly shaming the writers who, up to this point, have done nothing but redefine and elevate her career, she needs to seek support elsewhere... as she'll quickly lose it from a very loyal GA fan base after behavior like this. Has she not learned a lesson from both the actions of Isiah and the advice she personally and publicly dispensed to him about said behavior?
Your scenes are only as good as your method, investment and delivery. If you're unhappy with your performance of supplied material, maybe it is time you looked in the mirror and stopped pointing fingers. You're success can only be attributed to others around you and the opportunities they've afforded you. Please, show some respect... or you might be out of a job.

Your success, rather.

I'm totally on the writers side.. Katherine is pretty ungrateful to them.. that show gave her the fame and limelight she has now.. and this complaining won't help her at all.. she can lose lots of fans with these things..
i guess she just simply wants to get out of her contract, but i don't think that's the right way to do it..

Ever since Katherine has gotten into movies her ego has grown way too much and she thinks she's too good for Grey's now, which is fine...I certainly wouldn't miss her if she's FIRED, she is simply easily replaceable with another Izzy.
All this whining she is doing is giong to upset people and then they won't be going to see her movies, then she'll come crying back to Shonda. Get rid of her Shonda...if she cannot appreciate all the hard work you have done writing her storyline, the the hell with her!!

Her storyline did suck the latter part of season 3 and early half of season 4. Yes her words were harsh, but true.

Rumor was she wanted out. She just seems to be making it easier for her to be let go. I definitely see it as a slap in the face to the writers -- although, I do concur, her scenes were not as good as earlier seasons.

Well if she wants out, continually opening her mouth in this manor might just be her ticket out. I think she'd be a fool to leave the show. But hey, if she wants to put out the same old romantic comedies over and over again and be a one trick pony than I say good riddens.
The writers of Grey's have given her some great material but she can't always be the center of the storyline, she needs to learn to share the stories with her other co-stars, and make the best of the material she is given.

seriously ... i am not gonna miss her if she's fired from grey's .. i missed burke ..but i am not gonna miss her. i can't believe how ungrateful she is to them .. they made changes to suit her schedule and they're the reason she's famous right now .. i used to be a big fan of hers but ever since her movie career became big she can't get over herself...i agree her material wasn't gr8 but she could have made it gr8 if she wanted to .. i remember those rumors about her wanting to leave the show but now i am starting to believe them .. anyway if she continues to speak in public like that she might actually lose her fans .. i hope she doesn't

katherine heigl is a piece of shit.
she is the very example of what an ungreatful and arrogant holier than thou attitude is.
i think grey's anatomy SHOULD let her go, her character is easily one of the most dislikable characters on the show.
this one trick pony ingrate will be eating her words.
