Comments Fuel Rumors of Katherine Heigl Departure
Never one to shy away from controversy, Katherine Heigl's decision this week to take herself out of the running for an Emmy - sort of criticizing her own show's writers in the process - has triggered yet another round.
Moreover, it's revived rumors that she wants out of Grey's Anatomy.
Heigl, who earned an Emmy for her work on the show last year, took herself out of contention for this year's Emmy race because she felt that her character, Dr. Izzie Stevens, had not been given adequate material.
Recently, Heigl signed on to star in and produce a movie based on the book Escape by Carolyn Jessop, the former Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints member who fled the polygamous sect.
Katherine is also starring in the romantic comedy The Ugly Truth, and has already scored two big box office hits with Knocked Up and 27 Dresses.
While it is not unusual for TV stars to film movies during hiatus, some wonder if the Emmy snub is just the latest in a long string of events indicating that Katherine Heigl wants to leave the cast of the hit show.
ABC and Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes had no comment.

maybe if she leaves we will get more Lexie and Hahn screen time. i like heigl, but she has outgrown this show. i am telling you she will be the next one out the door.

I think Katherine Heigl is a talented actress and I like Izzie (for the most part) but I don't think she should be biting the hand that made her a household name. I had never even heard of her before the show. I think there's a lot that they can do using Izzie next season but it's a big cast (which will probably expand at the start of next season) and this past season was a bit crazy with everything going on. It would be nice to see Izzie for a while longer (I dig her and Alex) but I don't think it would be such a big deal if she wasn't there. It would allow for the storylines to be a bit more focused (more McSteamy!).

Ok so just because she won it last year she automatically presumes she'll get it again. Talk about spoilt. There's no way she did this by accident she knew this would get headlines. She was in two hit films oh my god how hateful is she. Get she me her already.

I'm not a huge Izzie fan anyway but Heigl really is full of herself LOL!!! I mean Patrick is a big movie star too and he still says he will stay with Grey's until the end because IT MADE HIM A STAR. It made her a star too, she should be more grateful. I don't want her to leave because the 5 Residents are the best together but she is a whiner and I wouldn't miss her as much as I'd miss the others. Like it wouldn't make me stop watching. Losing Derek or Meredith would make me stop watching.

It's obvious she wants out of her contract and would stoop to any means to do it. This show made her famous and now her big head has made her ungratful for it.

I cant believe that who does she thinks she is ??? critizating the writers in public the show made her she was nothing before that !! There's no guarantee that she was going to win anyway she didint have to do that she just disrespect the writers her collegues and the fans..........kick her out!

Ok really she is not that great of an actress, and before Grey's she was a nobody, How rude that she now claims that the writers did bot give her a great story line, you make the best of whatever situation it is the actress who brings it alive to the screen. And after all the show is called Grey's Anatomy, not Steven's Anatomy. I can't be she thinks that she is the bee's knees, she was out on the picket lines at the time of the strike and now she is spitting in the same peoples facing she claimed to be supporting. Patrick and Ellen should be on that list that this actress turned her nose up at, they did a great this season and all Katherine can do is whine, you know what i really would not miss her at all, i miss burke more.... The only time that i felt that she did great was with Denny...then after that they hooked her up with George, i lost any joy of watching her on screen. Give me Mcdreamy and Mer any day.

I go abck and forth with Izzie. I loathed ehr with Alex, she was such a womanwh*re and they ahd no chemistry. Then I loved her with Denny and LOVE LOVE LOVE her with George (the one good thing to come out of Grey in years) but then they dropped them inexplicably given Gizzie is hugely popular (they have haters sure, but they have tons of passionate fans) and went back to Lexzie with Alex being a verbal abuser this time around.
So if Gizie is gone for good, let her leave, I don't care one bit about ehr without Gizzie.

Hey, can someon answer me this question honestly? Let's say, Eric Dane, {and I am not bashing him, I absolutley love him on the show}, made the same comment as Katherine Heigel, about withdrawing his name for the Emmys. Do you think he would get the same public flogging has Katherine? Think about it. Does he really truley have a very dramatic role for a drama? He play's a sleazy character and is often very funny and Eric does a wonderful job playing the character. I wouldn't call his performance this season Emmy-worthy. I would for Justin Chambers performance in the season 4 finale. Eric was not given the materials that Justin was to have that "moment" in the show. Same thing with Katherine this season. She was religated to saving a freaking deer. Where as Chandra did a beautiful job during the storyline about her marriage crumbling. That is what Katherine means about not getting the material for an Emmy worthy performance. She NEVER SAID THE WRITERS SUCKED! SHE NEVER BASHED THEM! They didn't give her the best storyline, because they gave it to someone else. This is a double standard. George Clooney became a star on ER, and he wanted to leave to persue movies, and did well, and no one said "boo" when he left. Katherine, who DID have two movies that did very well wants that opportunity and she is seen as a bitch. I think her intentions were good, but it got blown WAY out of proportions. No one has to love the girl, but I say back off. And was one who thought she was being rude at first. I had time to think about it, and I think her being honest is not a bad thing. And it is not the end of the world. Leave the girl alone.

If she wants to leave let her leave, the show is Grey's Anatomy (first and foremost with Meredith and Derek). More MerDer! Pompeo and Dempsey
will go far - and I for one am now watching tv because there is a show worth watching! ABC is doing okay with GA, DH and B&S

No actor in their right mind would ever say something this dumb. "Diid not get award-winning material" ????? (I think she also blamed the writers).
It's 'HER acting' that is important. IF the material HAD to be award-winning......THEN the Writers should win the Emmy and not KH.....duh.. KH is no genius, she's a ''''dumb overdemanding b...."
Let her go. She always thinks she deserves more and better. She has threatened to leave every few months. Every season she stirs up trouble. First with salary negotiations. When the show gives into her and raises her salary to 200,000 $ she is still not satisfied. She found something else to complain about. Then she yaps her mouth off in public about a co-actor with no concern of the damage to IW or the GA show. Now this.
She is no team player. She gets unpleasant, even in public. GA should lose her already.
There are others who did not get as great amount of footage/material either, like Sandra Oh and Eric and they remain silent. KH is sooo full of herself, like she is the only one who ever did a few movies. All she wants is herself on the screen, when there are so many other actors on that show, MerDer being the main. This chick wants to supercede everyone.. she is a solo player only for herself. Can't even share screen space.
Why would she be left alone ? She is a public figure right. Does the world leave any public figure alone? Is that not a double standard to expect, then ? They def. have to be so careful what they say in public....and have to pay for their 'very public mistakes'....ala IW.
If George Clooney left the show for the movies he did it like a 'star'. He did not act thankless and insult the show people just because he got other options. He did not act selfish and undignified. He is a real star ... you have to act like one to be one. You won't remain a star for long if you go around insulting the people who put you there. You will be relegated to becoming a 'starwannabe'
If she wants to be a 'star' she has to learn to behave like one. She came across as very pompous and she could have just been a lot more dignified if she did not want to go on the Emmy. Talking about the material is really insulting the show and it's writers. Like she is saying SHE is Emmy-award winning material but oh, the GA show is not.......wow. Please DO leave her alone. lol
