Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo was about buying some deck chairs and an area rug from the Sustainable Living and Plantation in Hollywood Friday.

In the middle of moving furniture, the 38-year-old actress received a bouquet of flowers from a pal. Who wouldn't want to give Ellen Pompeo flowers?!

Grey's Anatomy actress Brooke Smith has adopted a baby girl from Ethiopia, her rep confirmed to People magazine.

It is the second daughter for Smith, 40, who plays Dr. Erica Hahn on the hit medical drama, and who already has a five-year-old daughter, Fanny, with her cinematographer husband Stephen Lubensky.

Brooke Smith, who is best known for her role in Silence of the Lambs before Grey's Anatomy, had been considering adopting since October.

"You know, why not?" Smith said, adding that she and Lubensky have traveled to Africa several times, and filmed a documentary on conservationists in Zimbabwe together.

"We still might end up there some time," she said.

1. By taking care of Rebecca himself, is Alex being loving or ignorant?

McCritic: He's trying to be loving, but Alex is a doctor. He should know better. In this case, ignorance is far from bliss.

iheartizzie: I know he's trying to be nice, but come on, Alex Karev. Keep your eyes on the true prize. I heart Izzie and I know you do, too. Make the move.

missingBurke: Karev thought he was gonna be a father. In his disappointment at that falsity, he's now treating Rebecca like a confused child. Is it misguided? Perhaps. But it's out of love.

2. Choose a side: Tucker or Bailey?

iheartizzie: Love is a losing game, despite the best of intentions. There is no right, no wrong. Just deep-rooted problems and life decisions not fixed by even the longest of arguments. Kudos to the writers for this very realistic scene.

McCritic: Tucker. He's right that Bailey is being short-sighted by putting little Tuck in day care just so she can finish charts by his side.

missingBurke: I feel bad for Tucker, but his analogy of performing surgery versus parenting just didn't make sense. Bailey is more in the right.

The head writer of the May 15 episode, Debora Cahn, talks about "Losing My Mind" in detail on the show's official writers' blog. Here are excerpts of her thoughts on the most recent Grey's Anatomy episode - the last before the season finale ...

I had fun with this episode.

The Bailey and Tucker fight was fun. It was satisfying. It was satisfying to write a fight where there's no good guy and no bad guy and no mistake, just two people who love each other and want to make it work and can't. Because it's really friggin hard to make it work. Love, good intentions and good actions don't always help. It's just hard.

The Andre thing was really fun.

We were putting together a story about a woman who was lonely and sad, and because of her tumor, crazy, and the crazy manifested itself in her fabricating a man to be in love with. She'd have this whole big happy love affair with a man who didn't exist.

Then Shonda Rhimes walked right in the writer's room and said, "Okay, fine, she can be in love with a guy who doesn't exist, as long as he shows up at the hospital after she falls into an irreversible coma."

That's when I become filled with self-loathing.
