Meredith Grey: Working on Her Issues
We've read the Grey's Anatomy spoilers and heard the whispers (even from head honcho Shonda Rhimes) that Derek and Meredith may reunite for good this spring.
But how, exactly, is that going to come about? TV Guide's Michael Ausiello sheds some light on that subject in his weekly Q&A session.
Interestingly, the answer may be guest star Amy Madigan.

Question: Do you know for sure if Amy Madigan will be playing the psychiatrist of Meredith Grey on Grey's Anatomy?
Ausiello: Yes, she's definitely playing her shrink and, presumably, the catalyst that will bring Mer-Der back together by the finale.

I figured that the psychiatrist would be what helped Mer/Der get back on track! I hope Der also sees the doc, not just Mer. Them together would be even better! I know he is going to be so excited that she is doing this for herself. I don't know about you guys, but April 24th CAN'T get here fast enough for me! I have a feeling that these next 5 episodes are going to be GREAT!! And, again I have to say that I am SO THRILLED that Mer/Der are going to be together and I can't wait to see their journey together unfold!

PLEASE MAKE UP YOUR MINDS ABOUT christina And preston.. Get him back , to finish the story. I believe they are meant to be as much as MER/DER are meant to be.. Mer actually was quite disappointed her pal did not have ''the happy ending''.. said that they all needed it. a reply would be much appreciated!! ps I want all of them together again... <3 <3

i think her going to a shrink will be great and maybe a little comical. its going to be so different hearing meredith actually talk about her issues instead of just saying she is fine. I am so excited about this. but honestly derek needs a shrink too. I mean what guy in his right mind shows a girl house plans one day after getting back together???? then asks a nurse out the same day? He is so up and down. i think he needs to face the fact the meredith died. it all went down hill for him from there.

It's so surprising to me that Shonda Rhimes, who once called Grey's Anatomy a show of "female empowerment" would continue to make her lead the one with all the problems while dismissing anything that her counterpart, the good Doctor McDreamy does. In Rhimes world, it is the very women she mainly writes about who do the most horrible things while the men in their lives are written as stand up men no matter what they do. It's my hope that Meredith seeks therapy for herself only and it has no other meaning behind it as I don't know if I could handle the message of seeking therapy to get a guy like Derek back. Although I doubt it will ever happen being that Rhimes loves her "McDreamy" so, it would be so refreshing to have him admit to all the wrongs he has done as well and put the effort into correcting them for Meredith, but it's the quick and sadly, not very creative way of this show to heap it all on Meredith. So while Rhimes claims to be the champion of female empowerment, in the end, for her at least, it will always be "a man's world."

Ok so I'm not trying to blow a gasket or anything but... Are you kidding me?! Of course she needs a psychiatrist. She's got a million daddy issues, mommy issues, and commitment issues. This will be the healthiest thing her character has ever done and the writers ought to be applauded for dealing with this issue in a real world and healthy manner! For heaven's sake people... why is it when people (or in this case a character) do responsible things they are ridiculed for it? "Oh you need a shrink! Ha Ha Ha!" No wonder so many people in the real world are afraid to get help. Geez!

Stupid shrink...hey does that mean Addie's not gonna come back?? even for one episode?? cuz didnt they say that she'll be back for one episode to knock some sense into Derek?? grr.......

I'm almost definatly sure Addison is still coming back, and the shrink isn't throwing a wrench in that.
I'm SOOO happy that Mer will be seeing a shrink. But I'm pretty sure somthing will happen with Derek too...or maybe thats just me..........

i am excited about this. this story line sounds great. it will be interesting to watch how derek goes from i cant do this anymore to i love you again. and he has to be the one to grovel, meredith is always begging him to take her its his turn to beg. BEG MCDREAMY LOL

OK, the psychiatrist makes sense as to how they are going to dig out of this divide and the Rose/Derek thing. Now, do I really have to see that they've been dating in the beginning of the new epis? Can't we just skip that part? Uck! Well, if it is definitely going to lead to Mer and Der back together, I will endure a little Rose torture for the greater good! I really can not wait. I think Mer growing (w/ or w/o psychiatric help) is going to be fantastic to see! We need some growing on Der's part. For someone who was going to wait, he jumped on the Rose bus way too fast. So, Shonda and writers, please show us some Der growing too. This is going to be great!! Really the next 2 weeks are going to feel long b/c I am so looking forward to it!!! Do you think Addie's going to come back to kick Der's behind? She'll be his "shrink" in the matter-- she's going to remind him of how she told him he better not hurt Mer again!!

Ellen Pompeo as Meredith doing scenes with Amy Madigan should be AMAZING!! I'm glad for that and even happier Shonda finally got it together during the strike and realized what fans have known all along, that the characters Meredith and Derek deserve a long term stable relationship. Should have started more than a season ago, but I'm happy it's starting now, and I can (gag) handle the plot device nurse for now because I know Mer/Der will have a chance at an interesting relationship in S5!!
