With the return of Grey’s Anatomy just eight days away, here are some new pieces of news, gossip and spoilers from TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello.
Question: Does your news of a two-hour finale of Grey’s Anatomy mean two new hours of the show, or is it going to be a recap episode and then the finale?
Ausiello: As I understand it, there’ll be about 80 minutes of show, plus 22 minutes of commercials and 18 minutes of ABC promos. Give or take a few here and there.
Question: Grey’s Anatomy casting two gay service members? Sign me up! I am a former service member that was discharged for being gay.
Ausiello: You’re too late — they’ve already found a few good-looking men: Benny Ciaramello (Friday Night Lights‘ Santiago) and Road Rules’ David Giuntoli have been tapped to play the same-gender-lovin’ soldiers who share a “very romantic kiss.”
Question: Wanna tell us who is gonna be involved in the super-secret, special, surprising kiss in the Grey’s Anatomy season finale?
Ausiello: First, let’s explain to the class what you’re referring to, Mandy. In the current issue of TV Guide, guest columnist Shonda Rhimes offers a first-person preview of the show’s final five episodes — and she saves the best for the last paragraph. “A lot happens in these five episodes,” she writes. “And it all ends with a kiss. A good kiss. A great kiss. A kiss so good it makes you lean into your televisions. A kiss we never saw coming. Oh, it’s a major kiss.” Unfortunately, I come bearing no clues since I honestly have no idea whose lips will be smacking. She kind of threw me for a loop with the whole “kiss we never saw coming” bit.

i think its mark and cristina! if you watch physical attraction chemical reaction episode from s4 they have a couple of great moments and they seem really similar in a certain sense. They have the same attitude or something.

I am not at all trying to be snotty b/c sometimes peopel are in comment things(not here at all). But if you have been reading everything from Shonda and Co.(yes i have a problem i am getting help lol) you can start to desifer stuff and she said that the finally isn’t going to be a MerDer weding( yeah i am crying to) btw this is from a lot of TV Guide things. Anyways she did hint at a ring so it could be a proposal, but who really by know doesn’t see that one coming. Addy isn’t going to be there in the finally(sooooo sad) so you can cross here out. in another Shonda Rhimes interview more recent than this she said that the chief is goign after his wife again and the actress is coming back. There is already going to be some sort of gay/lesbian kiss in the 5 episodes and although i personally have nothing against more or less idk how well abc would roll w/ that. also to make any of the established character suddenly lesbian(cristiana) seems a little unlike Greys( more of an OC move). Izzie Alex is way to predictable.
I think it could be Mark and Cristina b/c Shonda said Mark has to face his man whoring and Cristina faces Burke(a.k.a will need to move on). Then it would be so fun if MerDer and Mark and Cristina were toghether (agian like summer, seth, ryan, marissa OC)

I want George and Izzie to kiss like they did in the elevator, that was the hottest, most tender and loving kiss I have ever seen, it touched me straight to my soul. I am hooked on that kiss, I keep rewatching it over and over again on Youtube.
Episode 4.2 this season left me so hot and bothered when they almost kissed twice. When they were in the hall and they wanted so badly to kiss and they were leaning in to each other so close, Izzie looking down at his lips and the look of pure desire on his face when she left. He, and we at my home, needed a cold shower after that.
The guilt and timing ruined all that, but I know they have amazing chemistry, they even had it when they were dancing after they broke up, they loioked so much like a couple in love.
So I want Shonda to fix the no chemistry bs (it is clear as day they have amazing chemistry) and have them get together the right way this time, without the taint of adultery.
“What’s going to happen for Callie is really good, really interesting, fairly juicy and I can’t tell you a bit of it,” teases Rhimes. I was watching the ABC previews- They have one where Rose AKA “the plant” telling someone that she loves Derek! GAG! Merder is a rat race and tired of it already. Same old, same old for how many episodes already? Mer’s inability to cope sucks and Derek deserves more out of life than with a wimp who can’t make up her mind. Time to move on folks as it’s old already.
Sloan and Hahn is going to happen as she already stated what she thinks of him at the end of 4-11. Something I don’t think she would say if Callie were really a consideration. That would be a juicy kissing scene and I am sure, will take many by surprise.
So would George and Izzie. It’s too bad their super chemistry and developing relationship was squashed because of public opinion (some, anyway). This goes on in daytime soaps all the time and nobody complains, so why with Gizzie?

I agree Horace, and the Gizzie thing happened in When Harry met sally. They were friends for years and years without any physical attraction then they slept together and fell in love and got married. Everyone thought it was amazing, and George IMHO is much more attractive than Billy Cystal, LOL.
The thing is Gizzie does have a big fanbase both on and off the net, most of my friends do not post on the Net but they adore Gizzie and watch mainly for them.
But they would never vote in polls or post on the Net.
And even on the Net, on sites like Fanforum, BuddyTV, Tv-com, Gizzie have a whole lot of fans

people have been talking about merder getting toghether by end 3rd/ begining of 4th a lot. from wat i can tell it is put toghether by facts and wat would make sense. Shonda said we would know by the end it won’t be a season 2 like finally were they just kiss at the end. they will really be toghether, so probs it will happen at the end of the 3rd or 4th. ABC understands everyone hates rose so probably they will hav merder toghether as fast as they can with out seeming ridiculous. so merder will get back toghether and then 1 or 2 episodes were rose is sad( mainly they signed a contract, so she has to stay)

As much as I Love Izzie and George, I don’t like them together. It’s too much drama, first the Callie Issue, then because they dont have chemestry, and so on.. They work so much better just being friends.

I have read through all these comments– there are so many rooting for George & Izzie! I totally agree. George & Izzie are HOT TOGETHER!!! The elevator kiss was amazing & even the scene in the last epi when they dance– they agreed that their timing sucked, NOT their chemistry— and it is so true! The Callie thing just pissed everyone off– b/c he was married, and that was so wrong, but take a look at what happened AFTER George’s Dad died– who REALLY loved George? IZZIE! She let him go. She let him go to find happiness and heal. Callie didn’t really love him– she just needed him to love her. She should have seen that he was grieving so badly that his proposal was way out there. She should have taken care of him. But instead she just took what she needed. Miranda totally pointed that out in her “it takes two” speech to George. Just look at Gizzie’s history. See the unconditional love. And totally enjoy the chemistry in the moments when they just have been unable to hold it back.
GIZZIE– Shonda PLEASE let it be a GIZZIE kiss!!
Gizzie was drama because of the affair. We know they can be cute and flirty and wonderful as a couple. We saw it in Desire when they fed each other cake, which was HOT and sweet and fun, and we saw it in episode 2 where they were so flirty and happy with each other. I almost died from the sexual tension when they almost kissed in the hall, and from episodes 5 and 6 where they had fun and were giggly and happy and teasing each other.
The guilt and tension, the adultery and why they happened is what choke them up, but if they get together the right way next time, without the drama or the adultery, I know they will be gold.
Their chemistry is undeniable, they are MAGIC together and I intend on fighting for them till the end.

Greysaddiction, I agree, George and Izzie have unconditional love and they even had chemistry breaking up, when he kissed her shoulder so tenderly, squee, that is such a couple thing to do.
They got together the wrong way, hence the drama, but this time if Callie moves on and he is not married anymore and nobody gets hurt, they can start things right.
They can kiss like they did in the elevator but without the fear of hurting Callie this time, without the guilt that tripped them up.
They can be the fun couple the patient thought was a married couple in 4.6, the one where George told Izzie she was hardcore and made her laugh and light up, the one where they flirted so cutely.

MCDUMSI– I agree that if it’s going to be a totally unexpected kiss, that it probably won’t be MerDer, b/c we are now all expecting them to get back together. That being said, we are all just basking in the glow of the MerDer reunion promise we have been given– we obviously can’t stop talking about it b/c we’re just way too excited!! MerDer together is just the heart and soul of the show. I think all the talk about them kissing is b/c we simply can’t wait! And we are all SO relieved that Shonda has finally realized that MerDer TOGETHER is ESSENTIAL to the show!
Chief4ever- I certainly can respect your opinion (and thanks for presenting it in a respectful way– not all posters have been respectful with their negative comments), however I simply don’t understand it. I really think what is old about MerDer is that they are always getting broken up. I think the majority of the fan base is ready to have MerDer finally really be together. As for Derek deserving better– I think Mer has a heart of gold. I think Derek has a heart of gold, too. I think they’ve both messed up with each other. I think Der broke Mer’s trust a long time ago when he did not tell her he was married. I think that most of Mer’s issue with not fully committing to him is that breach of trust. Yes, she has Thatcher issues, but I think they are not the biggest issues keeping them apart– the breach of trust is.
Anyway, unexpected surprise or no unexpected surprise– I WANT A MERDER KISS!!!

I have two people in mind. One is the whole Hahn/Callie thing, which would be awesome, but I think too many people expect it now after the Addison episode. So George and Lexi? They’re getting pretty close and that just may shake things up between him and Meridith. Besides, it’s not completely out of left field like let’s say Bailey and the Chief or Christina with the Cheif.
Izze and Alex I think we’ve all been expecting since Alex carried her off of Dennie’s bedside. So that wouldn’t really be the most unexpected.

I think it will have Erica either kissing Cristina or Callie. With the whole Mer/Der thing I saw a photo from a spoiler page for the season finale and it had Meredith holding a bottle of champagne talking to Derek. So I think that the clinical trial suceeds and how the clinical trial is sorta like a metaphor or soemting for their relationship so that’s when they get back together. I was watching the 1st season the other day and it would be cool if it did go the way that I say becuase when they first get togehtre for a date MEredith is wating for him with a bottle of wine by his car. It’s like they’re starting from scratch, only this time MERedith won’t be broken
I absolutly hate George and Izzie,(sorry people) they are best friends and should stay that way,anything else is just weird for them.. buttt i think George and Lexie is very interesting. But i would love it if it was Meredith and Derek, like if he proposes and she says YES (as she would) it would be the best. I cant wait till they become stable because i dont like the back and forth back and forth with them, it kills me i love them together…AAHHHHH I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!

I hope it’s gonna involve Christina, she was a bit neglected this season until the last episode. Though I’m not so much for a Erica/Christina one, they just don’t have chemistry . Maybe a McSteamy/ Christina, that is if McSteamy decides to evolve a bit. Or Erica/ Mc Steamy..
i think its merder because it is sooooooooo predictible, shonda is going to want us to think outside of the box. but, the truth is, with what she told us, about them getting back together, it makes most sense.
