Grey's Anatomy Photo Gallery: "Piece of My Heart"

Below are some promotional photos from tomorrow night's episode of Grey's Anatomy, entitled "Piece of My Heart." Maybe you've heard - the episode revolves around the return of Dr. Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh)!

From Oceanside to SGH

Addison has been summoned to Seattle Grace from L.A. because of her surgical skills - but let's face it, it's her interactions with the rest of the characters that we really want to see. Will she talk some sense into Meredith Grey, please?

We'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, here are some more photos from "Piece of My Heart," featuring Addison and a seriously awkward elevator scene.

Ah, McDreamy and his many complex relationships...

Patrick Dempsey's Keys to Relationship Success

The man known as Dr. McDreamy may not know how to make a marriage last on Grey's Anatomy â€" but the man known as Patrick Dempsey sure does!

"Love, humor, communication. To me those are the bedrocks of a good relationship," the Versace-clad Dempsey, 42, said Monday at the New York City premiere of his wedding-themed romantic comedy, Made of Honor.

Dempsey at the Premiere

The Grey's Anatomy star plays a compulsive womanizer in the comedy, but says the Made of Honor character's "nothing like me at all â€" I'm married and have kids!"

Of his wife, Jillian Dempsey, the appreciative father-of-three said:

"She's immensely supportive. Without her, I wouldn't be here."

They have a six-year-old daughter and one-year-old twin sons.

So does Patrick Dempsey â€" who was recently featured in USA Today among other publications â€" have any funny memories from their 1999 nuptials?

"The photographers were drunk and never got a good picture!" he joked.

Izzie: I ordered unnecessary tests on a patient and I lost the contest.
George: This is the world's smallest violin playing just for you.

Round Table: "Where The Wild Things Are"

While fans gather in our forum to discuss each character, couple and plot twist, the Grey's Anatomy Insider staff comes together to talk about the key moments and share their opinions regarding the latest episode of our favorite drama.

Round Table topics for "Where The Wild Things Are" include George and Lexie living together, Izzie's blunder, and the hotness of Alex and Derek...

1. Is Izzie the worst doctor in history?

McCritic: Doc Ock was responsible for hundreds of deaths in Spider-Man 2. And Dr. Kevorkian was licensed in assisted suicide. But neither killed his fiance, nor did either man accomplish the seemingly impossible task of causing Cheech Marin to be anything but laid back and happy. Makes this an Izzie choice.

iheartizzie: I heart Izzie, but she's in the running. If she hadn't funded the free clinic, or she weren't signed to a six-year contract, she'd be out the door.

missingBurke: No. That's gotta be Sydney Heron. No one is that perky.

2. George and Lexie: Cute, boring or annoying?

iheartizzie: A little annoying, if only because of the living situation. It doesn't make sense. Surgical interns don't rake in big bucks, but they generally receive paychecks. Big enough paychecks so as to expand one's housing options beyond Fight Club style dumps. We know George O'Malley is impulsive, but no way does he go in there, look around and sign a lease. Did anyone see that fridge?

McCritic: Cute. Please don't mess up this burgeoning friendship by sleeping with Lexie, George. You've really gotta stop doing that with your roommates.

missingBurke: Lexie was kind of annoying me last night, but redeemed herself by yoinking Rose's flowers. Way to go girl!

Younger Dr. Grey

3. How long could you look into McDreamy's eyes without sleeping with him?

missingBurke: ... wait, sorry ... what? I was too mesmerized by McDreamy for a moment there to notice the third question.

McCritic: That's none of your business. Let's focus on Rose instead: Honey, Shonda Rhimes has admitted that you're nothing but a stop gap before Derek and Meredith end up together. Being alone with McDreamy for 2.5 seconds without getting him McNaked is just embarrassing. You gotta get yours while you can.

iheartizzie: A good couple of minutes. I pride myself on my will power.

4. Addison's return next week: Cheap plot device or HOT plot device?

McCritic: Can't it be both? Lindsay Lohan is.

iheartizzie: Maybe a tad unrealistic, but who cares!? Addison was much better on Grey's Anatomy than the ill-conceived Private Practice. Maybe she'll decide to stick around Seattle Grace for good. Wishful thinking...

missingBurke: Cheap. No, hot... maybe a little of both! Shonda, can you give us a little Mark Sloan-Addison on-call room action for old times' sake next week? PLEASE!!

5. Do you prefer Alex Karev with or without the facial hair?

missingBurke: Alex Karev is hot either way, but the new look suits him. At least he went all-in instead of just the dumb goatee.

McCritic: I prefer him involved in more significant story lines than the peripheral scenes he's stuck in week after week. But let's go with the facial hair. It accentuates his tough exterior.

iheartizzie: With. Somehow it adds to his "scrappy" persona.

Cuts Like a Knife...

Grey's Anatomy Writer on "Where The Wild Things Are"

The head writer of last night's episode, Zoanne Clack, talks about it in great detail on the show's official writers' blog. It's funny and insightful!

Here's what she has to say about "Where The Wild Things Are," which marked the first new episode of Grey's Anatomy in more than 100 days ...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay, before I start the blog, I wanted to mix this up a little in the spirit of the episode. Let's have a contest. 10 points for whomever tells me why Bailey's carrying her baby around all the time. 25 points if you can tell me the name of the crazy tumor that Phillip ends up having (no cheating by going back and looking!!! We're on the honor system here!). 40 points for the guesser of the theme of this episode.
And here's the motherload, the "medical mystery" if you will: there are lyrics to a song referenced within this blog (which also gives another clue to the theme). 80 points for the person who can name the song (and an extra 20 for the artist).
Did I mention I'm SO GLAD WE'RE BACK????!!! So glad prime-time network TV is back and can fill my TIVO with sweet, yummy non-rerun fictional candy again.
Morose Mer
So what's been going on in the 6 weeks (tv time) since we've been gone? I've heard a lot of speculation out there, but Meredith is absolutely. Not. Pregnant. Not even close.
Hasn't even had sex. Meredith Grey. Our beloved, "have-sex-instead-of-problems" / "meet-your-soul-mate-and-sleep-with-him-after-picking-him-up-in-a-bar" Meredith.
She's traded sex for ... therapy? Therapy? Our Meredith? She senses there's something wrong, something really wrong. But she can't put her finger on it. Or can't admit what she's already put her finger on. Therapy is interesting because it's the one place you get to talk about yourself incessantly and someone actually LISTENS.
They're actually paid to listen to your drivel. And occasionally give you mind-blowing assessments of your behavior. But Mer's not quite taking full advantage of that. But it looks like there's some movement at the end… we'll see what she does with that. Maybe it'll help her actually start acting like a human being around Derek. They haven't spoken in the entire six-week interim. Mer's been totally avoiding him and he's been avoiding her. But they can't keep that up. They can't handle that.
Shonda Rhimes Previews Return of Grey's Anatomy
Grey's Anatomy returns tonight with "Where The Wild Things Are."
To mark the occasion, a woman who needs no introduction - Grey's Anatomy creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes - has some words for all of you regarding the show's return tonight in her guest column for TV Guide ...
I like to call these five upcoming episodes Grey's Anatomy, Season 4, Part 2. Because for us, for the stories, it really does feel like a whole separate season. I came back to work after the strike with a whole new purpose, a new dedication. And a sense of hope.
My best friend, Oprah... OK, in my head she's my best friend, but in reality she barely knows me. But, secretly, I like to pretend I'm Gayle King because Gayle is the person who makes Oprah laugh, and who doesn't want to be the one to do that?
Also, I secretly wanna be Angelina Jolie. Because of the babies and the Brad and the fabulousness, but I don't have the legs. I lost my point. My point is that Oprah would say I have renewed my spirit. For me, that means I'm starting to enjoy this again.
Really enjoy this. Feel the rich possibilities.
So this season - Grey's Anatomy, Season 4, Part 2 - is the season of hope. For Meredith and Derek. For Izzie. For George. For Bailey. For Callie.
Shonda
Shonda Rhimes previews Grey's Anatomy "Season 4, Part 2."
Hopeful things are happening. Meredith and Derek are going to get together for good. That's right. For good. Now, if you think I'm going to tell you how it will happen, you're crazy. 'Cause it is yummy stuff. It is special. I spent a lot of nights lying in bed awake thinking about this.
These characters are my friends. They are people I know well who happen to live inside my head. I worry about their shortcomings and I celebrate their victories and I so, so want them to be happy. But more than happy, I want them to be brave. These Grey's Anatomy episodes are about bravery.
Patrick Dempsey Featured in USA Today
During his writers'-strike-induced hiatus from Grey's Anatomy, Patrick Dempsey whisked his wife, Jillian Dempsey, away for a romantic Italian getaway.
No kids. No cameras. And no reporters.
The couple took in a fashion show in Milan; then, in Lake Como, they were among many marveling at the estate of a famous resident: George Clooney.
"He's larger than life," Patrick Dempsey told USA Today. "I've met him a few times now, and he has always been very funny and charming. I like him."
Although he'd perhaps prefer comparisons with his idol, Cary Grant, it is Clooney with whom Patrick Dempsey has been compared since he rejuvenated a stalled teeny-bopper career by hitting it big on a prime-time medical series.
With his comedy Made of Honor hitting theaters May 2 and potentially solidifying his movie stardom for the first time since his late '80s hits â€" Can't Buy Me Love (as a dorky kid who hires a cheerleader to be his girlfriend) and Loverboy (as a pizza delivery boy who delivered a little something extra) â€" Clooney comparisons are back.
The Great Patrick Dempsey
Patrick Dempsey has plenty to smile about these days.
Dempsey, 42, got an early jump on his leading-man status last year by wooing princess Amy Adams away from the charming James Marsden in Enchanted. Its $128 million take has producers dreaming up a sequel. But Enchanted was an ensemble.
"This is the first time I've carried a movie in a long time," Dempsey says over drinks at a corner table in the Four Seasons Hotel bar. As a result, he has been asking himself, "Can I pull this off? Will people come see it?"
"This is a very big film for him," says Made of Honor director Paul Weiland. "Patrick grew up in the (Hollywood) system, but I'm not sure he wants to stay in it forever."
Dempsey concedes that he "wasn't sure if Enchanted was going to work." So he sought a project that would be "light and different from Grey's Anatomy. With a broad-based appeal. Something that would do well commercially to allow me to cross over."
