Patrick Dempsey: A Designing Man

The face of Versace's spring/summer mens' line, Patrick Dempsey mingles with the woman of the hour, Donatella Versace, before her design house's runway show on Thursday as part of Milan Fashion Week. So very handsome ...

Confirmed: Grey's Anatomy to Return April 24

ABC announced today that Grey's Anatomy will return Thursday, April 24, at 9 p.m. EST, with the first of five original episodes.

Let the countdown begin! Five new episodes makes 16 for this fourth season, which leaves us short of the usual 20-plus, but at least it's something.

Tell us what you think will - or should - take place in these new episodes of Grey's Anatomy. We welcome your best guesses, hopes and dreams.

Patrick Dempsey Waiting to Take Off

Relax, Grey's Anatomy fans. We're not talking about him leaving the cast of the show or anything. Just LAX airport in this photo from earlier in the week. Armed with carry-on, Patrick Dempsey waits for a flight with wife Jillian Dempsey on Monday...

Patrick Dempsey is the only guy we know who looks good at the airport.

Katherine Heigl, T.R. Knight in Paris

Here's a cute picture we were sent of a pair of Grey's Anatomy stars and real-life best friends, Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight - along with Katherine's mom Nancy Heigl - in Paris, France this week, where she was promoting her new movie...

Chandra Wilson Makes the Most of Time Off

During her unexpected wintertime hiatus, the award-winning Chandra Wilson wrapped up her tax returns, cleaned house, attended parent-teacher conferences, picked up an award and even visited her old high school.

Wilson, understandably, would have preferred to be at work, wrapping up Season Four as Dr. Miranda Bailey in the ABC drama Grey's Anatomy.

But the chance for the actress to return to her alma mater, Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, was one of the brighter spots of her forced time off during the Writers Guild of America strike.

According to her hometown Houston Chronicle, Wilson returned to the school bearing gifts â€" the promise to fund a pair of $2,000 annual college scholarships for HSPVA's theater graduates â€" and in just minutes, produced more genuine, heartfelt laughter than the stern, no-nonsense Miranda Bailey has provided viewers in four years of serious, on-screen hospital corridor stare-downs.

"There's a whole lot of my mom, a whole lot of Wilma (referring to her mother, Wilma Allen) in Dr. Bailey," Chandra Wilson said, laughing.

"You know mothers. Everything is justified from their point of view. I may see it differently, but she's completely justified with every reaction and suggestion."

Listening to her mom has served Wilson well thus far. Chandra Wilson had acted since age five in Theatre Under The Stars productions, but only applied for the performing arts high school in 1983 at her mother's suggestion - her urging.

"Within two weeks, I knew that was the best decision my mother ever made," she said. "I didn't have professional aspirations. My mom didn't want me to be idle."

Shonda Rhimes: New Episodes to Begin in Late April

Just a quick note to let you know that the Grey's Anatomy official Writers' Blog has been updated - mostly talking about the "Good Medicine" special show at UCLA February 29. Here are excerpts of what executive producer / creator Shonda Rhimes writes ... follow the link to the official blog for the unabridged version.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh my God, WE ARE BACK!
We are. Really. SERIOUSLY. Writers are writing away and we're all very excited about getting back to our Mer and Der and our Izz and our...  well, EVERYBODY.
Here's the thing: We have to write the episodes and the actors and crew have to shoot the episodes and the editors have to edit the episodes.
My point is, it's going to take a while to get from my typing fingers to your TV screen. Our first new episode will air at the end of April.
Rhimes
What will you do until then to get your Grey's Anatomy on? If only you could see the actors in person. If only you could go see them on stage, in person, talking and laughing and yes, SINGING for charity ...
YOU CAN!!!
For one night only, the casts of Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice are coming together for a live performance! An unforgettable evening of laughter and song to benefit crew members affected by the strike.
February 29, 2008 at UCLA's Royce Hall in Los Angeles, CA we are presenting "Good Medicine." A little singing, a little funny, a lot of raising money.
Come on out and join the casts of Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. See T.R. Knight SING! Hear Tony Winners Audra MacDonald and Sara Ramirez! See Katie and Kate! See Ellen and Sandra!
SEE THEM ALL! CAUSE THEY WANNA SEE YOU! And help raise some money to help others! Tickets are $85. You can buy them on Ticketmaster.com or call the UCLA Central Ticket Office at 310-825-2101. I hope to see you there!
I'll be the one in the too-sparkly dress (I love sparkly to the point of tacky), looking pleased and proud of my kickass casts as they work to entertain you...
Patrick Dempsey on Romance, Grey's Anatomy, Movies
Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey plays a single guy looking to win over his bridal best friend in Made of Honor, which hits theaters May 2.
"I love romance, absolutely," the self-confessed serial monogamist tells Mary. But the Grey's Anatomy leading man, who has been married for eight years, admits that the marriage proposal to his wife, Jillian Dempsey, was done "poorly."
"We just bought this house and we were in the middle of remodeling it and the kitchen was a mess," the man we love as McDreamy told Entertainment Tonight.
"I kept giving her this line where I had to find the right ring. I finally found it while she was gone and I couldn't wait ... so I popped the question in the kitchen."
McDreamy Jokes
In Made of Honor, Patrick Dempsey plays a serial dater who decides he wants to settle down just as his best platonic friend, played by Michelle Monaghan, decides to tie the knot. Patrick's character then accepts her invitation to be her "maid" of honor as part of his master plan to woo her for himself.
Dempsey also talked about his three children, and how he is excited to go back to work on the 4-5 new episodes of Grey's Anatomy to air this spring. He's been in touch with Ellen Pompeo a few times since production shut down late last year.
Eric Dane: The Pinnacle of Style
Eric Dane's morning checklist... Aviator shades? Check. Straw hat? Check. Wife-beater? Check. Hawaiian shirt? Check. Warm-up pants? Check!
The Grey's Anatomy actor, 35, may not win any sort of fashion awards for this choice of outfit, but he still manages, somehow, to look kind of cool as he makes a coffee / breakfast run in Los Angeles on Saturday morning.
An Interesting Look
Dane and the rest of the Grey's Anatomy cast will be appearing at a benefit called "Good Medicine" on February 29 to support crew members hampered by the three-month work stoppage during the writers' strike.
We're pleased to repeat that Eric Dane does not have skin cancer, as was erroneously reported by a celebrity gossip magazine earlier this month.
